Simms Questionable/Orton Probable
Safe to say the starting QB is more or less named?
by pshin8670 on Sep 11, 2009 3:58 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
Orton was named
as starter earlier today (as per Denver Post). They said that would only change if he had last minute stitches issue or something.

Shayne Graham
Interesting that Cincy’s kicker, who has not played all pre-season, was not listed.

According to this, he'll play
Kicker Shayne Graham missed the final three exhibition games because of a groin injury but practiced throughout the week and will play Sunday. “Shayne had a good week,” coach Marvin Lewis said.

Andre Smith's absence sucks for Cincy...
He wasn’t really around in TC, but still that’s unfortunate.

Cincy's Strongside
I know Cincy was really looking forward to Smith shoring up their strongside OT position. Haggan is going to have a field day!

So
The Raiders put Seymour on their list as “reserve/left team.” What does this mean?
Tis better not to throw it to the deep receiver but the open receiver.

I think he's going to be suspended for the season
I honestly don’t understand why they didn’t talk to him directly FIRST before making that trade, to make sure he was cool with it. They’ll have rights to him next year, and he can’t play anywhere else but Oakland unless they trade those rights, but still, seems like they basically wasted a draft pick.

If they Suspend him
he doesn’t become a free agent, correct.

Wouldn't it be funny if he retires?
Oakland loses that draft pick and the player they traded. lmao
Can that happen? Has that happened? Oh yeah…Tampa Bay traded for Jake Plummer and he retired. opps! We got a 6th or 7th rounder right?

Funny...
It would rule. So, here’s what I said to Raider Fan on the way out of the office yesterday.
“Hey Raider Fan, did you hear they finally said why the Bay Bridge was closed?”
He thought I was serious. “No, why?”
“Richard Seymour was up there threatening to jump off.”
The laughter from everyone around drowned out the predictable Raider Fan complaints. Yes, I nailed him good. The advance smack talk for Raider Week has already begun.

I am a lonely Bronco fan amongst a sea of fader nation, speckled with goldie locks of fairy niner fans...
I only talk smack during fader week…otherwise I’d have no working relationships, family relationships, or any sort of friends to speak of. lol
Nice one though…I’d be royally pissed if I were Seymour too. I just might retire also rather than moving my family from the nice parts of the Northeast to the “nice” parts of Oakland or the Bay Area….

My condolences...
Stay strong Brother. See, Faders Fan lives here in Denver and doesn’t care how nutty he looks claiming his 5-11 team is Super Bowl bound. Our fans have class. Theirs throw batteries.

I would retire for one reason:
He’s probably got kids, and those kids are in school—in BOSTON.
He’d have to pack his family up and move from Boston, which is one of the most educated cities in the country, to Oakland, a city where less than half of all kids in high school actually graduate.
I’d retire and stay in Boston for those kids’ sake.

Brett Favre and join a team he wants to then?

Retire for a year and then "come back" in 2010? Is that legal? lol

Won't work
The team retains rights to his services should he return. Jets renounced their rights to Favre thus opening up the window for his return to the Vikings. But they didn’t have to do that.

Financial consequences
Jake was willing to give up his salary and part of his signing bonus to retire. I don’t know that Seymour is willing to do that. He, like BMarsh, does not have much leverage.

"doubtful", "questionable", "probable"
Does anybody know the definition of these categories? Are they purely subjective, or are there objective standards for each?
If purely subjective, what’s the incentive for teams to be accurate in classifying the players? Are there consequences for players in each category? For example, can all the players be listed as “doubtful” and then all dress up and play come game time to the surprise of the other team?
by BuckarooBanzai on Sep 11, 2009 5:29 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
Good Question
I, too, would be curious about these definitions (especially as they tend to mess with my fantasy teams)…

This may help
The league’s system is pretty straightforward – “probable” means there’s a 75 percent chance of a player being ready to go on Sunday, “questionable” means 50 percent chance of playing, “doubtful” means 25 percent chance of playing, and “out” means out. Prior to the 2004 season, Commissioner Paul Tagliabue sent a memo to each team outlining tightened requirements on reporting injuries. He stated that teams needed to be more specific in their diagnosis, and
issued a warning about the repercussions of falsifying information.

probable = there were rumors (which we won’t confirm) that the player might have been injured but we’re not telling you how badly or how fully he may be healed. He will suit up for the game.
questionable = worse than probable but we’re still not telling
doubtful = worse than questionable and we meant business when we said we weren’t telling.

Can't we just go to playoff hockey injury listings?
Maybe they’re the reason I don’t have any problem with the Patriot method of listing (although, Shanahan used to play those games as well…)
Shoulder Injury: Player tore his groin into three pieces
Back Injury: Player’s wrist was shattered into more pieces than a jigsaw puzzle
Leg Injury: Player’s arm was torn off
Foot Injury: Player just lost 6 teeth and is having emergency surgery to keep his nose on.

Dnver will win
I will be at the game, they better win. The bungles wont be able to run the ball. Benson is a good back but nobody to block for him. A Smith is a joke. It was a tipical Bungle draft pick. He was in trouble and out of shape. In his contract he will be fined everytime he weighs over 350lbs. Guess what after he signed his contract he wieght 363. Thats just funny
