Guru and Friends Predict....Week 1 in the NFL
John and various members of the staff here are once again competing in the annual MHR Pick'em challenge. We were all humbled last year when Guru's Wife dominated us all, winning the season by four games. Hopefully this year will be different!
You will notice the Denver Bronco game is not included. We'll just say everyone roots for the Broncos each week! Guru's wife is a Patriots fan, so her pick will be of the Bronco game. Just so homerism doesn't affect the outcome again this year.

I'd have to go with Zappa...

Zappa....funny you....
I still can’t believe that you took Washington over the Giants………
I guess we’ll see.
I’ll quit saying, “funny you” if you are right….
funny you…

I like Zappa’s picks. He’s got some bold picks which could get him some separation right off the bat. The question is will it be good or bad separation?
"C" is for Championship...that's good enough for meeeee!!!

Prolly somewhere in the middle. ;-)
Redskins opened up with a 16-13 win over the Gmen in Week 1 last year….I say we repeat it. :)

Actually...
…the Giants beat the Redskins in the home opener in 2008 on TNF 16-7.
A man does what he has to do, and sometimes it’s not what I believe he should do. There’s no reason to use up energy hating him for it. Shoot him if you have to, but don’t hate him.

I’m picking the Toronto Argonauts over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers too. ;)

J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. Less Farvre means more wins. How could all to rest of you miss that one. Come on. Just because we all like old number 8, doesn’t mean his team will win.

Well didn't she win it last year
I would take it she knows something. So here is the question; Will someone dethrown her?

The only pick I am uncertain about is the Jets-Texans game...I am second guessing myself, but its too late for that!

Yes he did! at the end of Tuesdays show on account od the thurs night game.
He did but I think that the Way the Ohio State game went he may not have been in the mood. Just pure speculation on my part, my mom is a buckeye and well…. let’s just say it’s gonna be a long night here! I don’t know what’s worse 35-3 or being so close 18-15? Hopefully he’ll have a show tomorrow after the game! GO BRONCOS! and WAR EAGLE!

zappa & guru's wife are the only team with any real underdogs???
come on guys…..at least a couple dogs are gonna slip through. Its the beginning of the season, so tons of perceptions are way off on teams…..as you are aware of this on Den, I’m surprised very few went out on a limb and picked a couple other dogs……Kudos to Zappa and Guru’s wife….I like your style!!! I like Cle & SF, but think Was and NYJ are good picks….good luck.

thanks!
I’ve been picking since I was kid back in the 90’s…my family was real into it. One thing I know from those years is that Week 1 is usually a cluster****. lol It can’t hurt to go against the grain…of course I could be dead wrong and I’ll have to play catch up.
I am SO glad football season has arrived!

I'm pretty juiced about FB season myself
One of my favorite parts is seeing the teams that were missed as winners. There is no telling what teams will surprise, although based on how much we know about the Broncs I feel pretty good. The other teams its just kinda a guess. The one thing I totally agree with is that especially in WK 1 there will be a few surprises. I think you’re picks are as good as any. I’ve been looking for dogs so hard I started believing Oak and KC could win….lol. I won’t be surprised if it does happen though…….What a great year for surprises!!
Enjoy the games!

WHO picked Denver in the NE v. Buffalo tilt.
I believe the 'push off' cost us 'our' SuperBowl...
