"What's For Chow"?
I have a 'Hot Wings' recipe for the game tomorrow and I'd like to share it with you. I make several different things during the year such as Cajun Gumbo, New England Clam Chowder, BBQ Ribs and Beer Can Chicken. The recipe is as follows:
2 1/2 LBS of wingettes and drumettes
1 Lg bottle of Frank's Hot Sauce
1/2 bottle of Chili Sauce (Heinz)
1/2 cube of butter
1 lemon (juiced)
1/4 cup of honey
I brine the wings for 8 hours in cold water and Kosher salt (optional) then I boil them for 20 minutes. While they are boiling in a sauce pan I put in the remaining ingredients and bring it to a simmer. After the wings have boiled for 20 minutes I drain them in a strainer to remove all the water and place them on a baking pan and put them in the oven for 15 minutes at preheated 350 degrees. After 15 minutes in the oven take them out and drizzle the sauce to coat all and place back in the oven for 5 minutes. Take them out and serve with celery sticks and ranch dressing. Umm good. They will practically fall off the bone. Enjoy the game with Hot Wings and a cold brew. Hope we win.

tomorrow is the first day of a major sailing class for me so I’m going to be getting updates on my cell phone & watching it via NFL rewind after the fact. :(

Whoa… What ingredients are the wings boiling with? I assume you boil in water, so that leaves a lot to the imagination….
I need an answer on this, and you get a strike against you for being vague… I want to try this tomorrow morning! If this works out well, I could be persuaded to share some secrets of my own…
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok.

OK, after reading your recipe again a couple times, I edited it to what made sense…. let me know if this is what you do.

After 15 minutes in the oven take them out and drizzle the sauce (from the saucepan) to coat all and place back in the oven for 5 minutes. Take them out and serve with celery sticks and ranch dressing. Umm good. They will practically fall off the bone. Enjoy the game with Hot Wings and a cold brew. Hope we win.
I love wings, but for some odd reason have never made them. Hope to fix that tomorrow (later today actually) thanks to you = )
Go Broncos!

celery sticks sound good
but i’m guessing it just won’t taste the same if i substitute chik’n for the real thing.
as long as you're paying attention
The nice thing about your recipe
is that you can substantially de-fat and clean the wings up by boiling them.
When I went to school in Buffalo in the seventies, and ate wings at the Anchor Bar where they originated, they used Maries chunky blue cheese dressing all the way!

I grew up in NM and had never even hears of Buffalo Wings until I visited a friend in Springville, NY. (Buffalo area) We were at a bar and they couldn’t believe I had never had wings before, so they of course ordered me a plate of Atomic, or Hellish, or whatever the inedible equivalent was. They were floored, and I was hooked = ) Never developed a taste for real bleu cheese though… that moldy cheese defeated me every time I tried it.

I will stick with some chicken garlic pizza with the white sauce… maybe some cheese bread.
Oh yeah, the important part, rum and coke. After my night last night [daughter puking all over the car on the way back from Estes, spending half an hour on the side of the road trying to take care of it, daughter getting up at 2am needing to pee, dog howling at 3 am for seemingly no reason, daughter needing to pee again at 4 am, and then finally wanting up at 8..] I am surprised I haven’t made a drink yet.

at least I get to wear my new broncos hoodie [I have a bunch of hoodies just never had a broncos one] — it is chilly enough to warrant it, at least in my mind. Of course my wife has our fireplace on… ha. Broomfield isn’t that cold =)

I will share my recipe later on in the season. This should be a weekly post. Maybe put out on a Wednesday or Thursday in case others need time to prepare a new recipe. Thanks again bfree for another excellent idea. Bon Appetit!
