Horse Tracks 9/13/09 - Are YOU ready for some DENVER BRONCOS FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!
Good MORNING, MHR Friends!! Today's the day. It's no longer about playing mistake-free football and staying healthy. I mean, those things matter. But really, it's finally here, and all that matters is getting a 'W'. That's it. Get the win; anyway, anyhow. GO BRONCOS!!!! To those in NYC, I'll hopefully see you at Sidebar (15th and Irving) at the back bar - there should be a pretty big group of Denver fans watching our boys on the big screen with sound. I'll be the token Asian guy...obviously, please introduce yourselves and I look forward to meeting you!

Great job NYC....and now, one of my pet peeves....
Someone as respected as Dan Reeves floast out that nugget to Armstrong and he does not even dig into it further??? What gives with these idiot journalists.
This is finally someone saying what a lot of us here have been saying about the whole Chinese Phonebook incident…..its is not like McD, Xanders and Bowlen did not know what they had in Cutler….they are not idiots….yet this is glossed over by all these experts.
DRIVES ME NUTS!!!!

Amen
What people forget is that for better or worse the weakest coach in the NFL still has ten times the football smarts of the average fan. And McD is no dummy. This is a guy who doesn’t brush his teeth without a chart, so I am sure that while he’d probably have preferred to coach Cutler he did what was necessary, knowing the risks. This is a team first locker room and you can’t have divas in that setting no matter the talent.
McD has already surprised the h8ters…the best is yet to come. Call me Kool Aid if you want, but while I was originally angry I am utterly convinced this thing is eventually going to work out. I’ll pour in the pixie sticks now if it makes people feel better. LOL

Pressure
The pressure is entirely on the Bungles’ shoulders. Fan loyalty is at an all-time low (as it is here in Denver). The ‘sellout’ only happened because sponsoring partners bought up the remaining tickets.
The entire coaching staff is on the hot seat. Marvin Lewis made going undefeated at home a priority this year, and killing that goal after week 1 would be demoralizing.
Assuming Palmer’s ankle is truly 100%, the edge offensively has to go to Cincy given our best player is rusty. Chris Henry has looked great this summer. I’d almost rather Champ key on him than Ocho. McDaniels’ said Champ will move around. That is good. I’d be curious to see how Henry has favored against Andre’ Goodman in the past.
Overall defensively, I’m drooling to see our scheme in real action. With a limited amount of plays, this defense looked dominant. Edge there goes to Denver. Cincy has a decent enough front 7, but that secondary is downright embarrassing save Leon Hall who will be wasted on a not-yet-integrated Marshall. Eddie should go off.
This doesn’t seem like a game the football Gods are mean enough to let Cincinnati lose, but as long as there are no special teams blunders – I see Denver winning going away. Up big after 3 quarters and Cincy makes it look closer than it really was.
Good post EL Gee...
Remembering that Palmer aint that fast even with 2 good ankles!!!

Yeah, he’s a statue regardless.. and their O-Line is kind of patchwork right now. I was thinking more in terms of people at his feet getting in his head. If that ankle is still tender, he might force some throws.
Good points for sure....
Expect Nolan to bring early pressure….if we can get some early turnovers and get a lead going to be tough sledding for Bengals!

I voted other
for Clady! But I think Marshall, Royal, and Hillis will all have great games. Hopefully the Chef will catch a TD too because he is on my fantasy team.

The Hanging Curve
Yahoo's projection for Scheffler...
…skyrocketed all of a sudden the other day. Wonder what brought that on.
How much will Marsh play?
I have a decision to make wheher to start him or Percy? What do you guys think?
HILLIS
I doubt Favre is too comfortable with Harvin yet. He dropped some balls in the preseason. Not to say Marshall is going to go off.. but he has more upside today.
I don't know
but I have a feeling that he won’t be THAT limited. He probably doesn’t know every play he needs to, but on the other hand as Cutler showed it’s generally not too hard to get the ball to Marshall.

oh yeah
before the season starts I’m going to make it official—I believe the Broncos will be 8-8 or better this season, which is to say surprise the crap out of the pundits
Jason
The Hanging Curve
Bill Simmons...
…predicted 10-6. 8-8 is kind of a copout. Baltimore/Miami/Atlanta. All exceeded 8-8 last year with inferior coaching staffs and rosters, and in much tougher divisions than the AFC-W. Flacco and Pennington are inferior QBs to Orton. The Baltimore defense was a shell of it’s former self. Etc.
The schedule looks tough on paper, but that’s why predictions are kind of pointless. Tough teams now could be decimated by the time we play them, or the Broncs might just prove to be as tough or tougher week to week.
Agreed
Sounds like a safe pick but until I see what this team can do I say 8-8

Thorough
It’s good to see what’s out there. We don’t have to agree with it, but at least we know about it and can digest it (even if it does give heartburn).

You may mock, but I have no problem with naysayers, as long as they have actual reasoning – same for the Kool-Aid crew…

Let the games begin!
Good morning all and this is the dawn of a new era for the Denver Broncos. I believe it will be an era we will eventually be very proud of, I know I’m proud as a pert rutting buck in a herd of beautiful does already. 13-3 Baby!!! Until we ain’t. 3 and out Baby!!!
