Whatever happens today...
I am a Bronco fan, through and through. I have a feeling that whether they win or lose, there will be a backlash from the sharp divide of fans ("Kool Aid" v. "Cutler"). I know not everyone (including myself) is this strongly divided, but this has been, without a doubt, the most chaotic Bronco offseason I can remember since becoming a fan in '77.
What I'm hoping for (beyond a win, first and foremost!), is reasonable discourse after the game. If they win, it doesn't make McDaniels the Messiah. If they lose it doesn't mean we're suffering the curse of Cutler. It's one game and I plan to enjoy the heck out of it, then take some deep breaths and see what I can glean about my favorite team going forward.
I think six-to-eight games is enough to get a solid idea of where this team is headed. That will be the point where I, for one, will be ready to engage in more conversation about how the regime change is working. Even then, worst-case scenario (0-6), I'm still a Bronco fan. Sure, a very disappointed Bronco fan, but it's the tradition, the colors, the city -- everything that just makes my heart pump. I do like what I've seen so far out of this team. I'm not much for predictions, but I am "cautiously optimistic" about the product we're seeing this year -- especially because I've lived my life as a team guy and I do believe that's the culture being instilled.
One other note to my Bronco Bretheren, please welcome a brand new Bronco fan into the world as he watches his first game ever, my two month old son Giuseppe (joo-SEH-pay). He'll be donning his colors and sitting next to daddy as we kick off the '09 season (I'll post a picture later).
Now let's kick some Bengal butt!

Great post man!!! Awesome...
WE need to look at this game as coaches and REAL fans.
We need to see some incremental improvement on D and ST, and see if our O can take steps.
We may lose, but if our guys keep it close and play a full 60 minutes, we are already ahead of where we were last year.
Rec’d!
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
All I want is 53 Rod Smiths. Is that asking too much????

That’s how I feel… but no matter what: I’m a Broncos fan and will be a Broncos fan!! The team doesn’t need a divided fanbase, but they need support, and thats what I’ll give them!
