D.J. Williams is happy with his new role within the D, despite all of the fear mongers who told him he'd hate the switch to a 3-4/5-2.

Despite being too short to play in the NFL (and that the trade to acquire him was obviously a move rooted in stupidity), Alphonso Smith had quite an impact on Sunday's game.

NFP - Tavern talk: Learning from experience - Mike Lombardi
Lombardi thinks the Bungles should have run more time off the clock at the end of their TD drive. I'm not so sure about that; when you NEED a touchdown, you've gotta just get it; there's no sense in running the clock out on yourself. It's different if a FG is okay. The problem was letting Stokley get behind the defense.

Good Morning nyc, Thank You for all you do on Horse Tracks...

Vic Carucci's article is very good
And not just the part about the Broncos. Thanks, nyc.

thanks heaps
I still haven’t been able to get the game and here is the only place i can get good info from
I haven't seen the game either
and this site is really good because there are several members who have seen the game so you will know what happens here. That is another reason why this site is the best. I am really contemplating getting game rewind so I can watch any game on my computer.

Do it, weasel
If you can put together the scratch, it’s one of the nicest tools you can have. You can scout the opposition, rerun plays that were of interest and never have to deal with commercials. One of the members turned me on to it and I’ve been grateful ever since

Well I had to do it.
The clarity of the video is really good. I see what you mean, I am going to love this. Now I will be able to watch the games I am not able to see and know what everyone else is talking about.

I can watch that play a billion times and it’s still awesome and makes me smile.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
Me Too!
I replayed it over and over last night while I was waiting for some sauce to reduce on the stove. LOVE IT!

Stupid San Diego
The Dolts lost Gartrell Johnson? Their arrogance didn’t pay off with this move. I’m sure they wanted him on their practice squad. Whoops. Why look to the future if you can hang out to relics of the past like LTD and Michael Bennett. AJ Smith excellence ended in 2006.
Me thinks the same thing would have/will happen if Denver tries to sneak McKinley or Brandstater on the practice squad.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
Pretty surprised
I agree, what a dumb move by the dolts. All we heard from San Diego’s camp this training camp was how well Johnson was doing and how impressed the coaches were with him. I was pretty excited when I saw they lost him.
As was I
hated rooting for the kid as a Dolt…now I don’t feel so dirty cheering for him! :-)

As much as I think A.J. Smith is a blowhard, I can’t figure he really expected Johnson to pass through waivers. Seems to me the Giants are the new running back factory, having surpassed the Broncos in that category…

I would have been thrilled if Denver cut Jordan and signed Gartrell Johnson.

Darius Walker?
Darius Watts was a WR from Marshall we drafted a few years back.

Darius Watts: #34 in the list of Shanny's "Special" players
Two things I don’t miss about the old admin:
1) Talking up K.C. Jones, Trey Teague, Darius Watts, etc. as future stars
2) Floating stories about near-draft misses — at various times, we’ve heard how the Broncos almost drafted Ed Reed, almost drafted Steve McNair. Brian Urlacher. Justin Tuck. Etc., etc.
You've got me CB
Who the heck is K.C. Jones?
by Douglas A. Lee on Sep 16, 2009 12:49 PM MDT up reply actions
Backup center in the late 1990s. Shanny pushed him as the heir to Zimmerman and Tony Jones. You know: He’s “special.” Him, Trey Teague and Lennie Friedman: The dominant O-line of the future.
OH YEAH
Wow, CB. I didn’t think I could get stumped on someone so recent; very nice…

He’s what, the 4th string RB anyways? I don’t think we should be expecting too much production from #4 on the depth chart

Watts and Walker are both scrubs.
IMO, Gartrell Johnson has much more NFL impact potential.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
I agree
Wish we’d grabbed Gartrell and cut Walker

Not possible; Walker is on the practice squad, not the active roster
by Douglas A. Lee on Sep 16, 2009 11:01 AM MDT up reply actions
Bolts better keep their mitts off Walker lemmetellya
I guess they couldn’t sign him away to their practice squad, though, only to their active roster.
Just a momentary alarmist conjecture.

One thing I am not surprised about
is that with LT hurt last year and looks like he will be dinged up this season as well is the fact that they haven’t used Bennett yet. They have only used him a handful of times since they got him.

really? Way to be a downer, Carucci.

I liked this quote from that article
“I think we actually have a bigger advantage of having (McDaniels) being such a good offensive coach and coming from the Patriots and having a lot of (offensive) success,” said Woodyard, who had an interception against Cincinnati. “He relays a lot of stuff to us that we, as defensive players, probably would never even pick up — certain schemes, certain plays. The biggest thing is how most quarterbacks think. If you allow a defense to get a good insight on that, you’ll have some success.”

I'm hoping for the best for McDaniels
If he succeeds… we’re good for a long long long time.

Leodis McKelvin
Anyone else as disgusted by that as I am? They guy was trying to make a play, whether you think he should have taken the touchback or not. He covered up the ball the way he should have and just took a good licking by some heads up defenders. These things happen. But for cowards like that to take that sort of action just blows me away. Let’s see YOU take that hit. Besides, its not like it ruined your life. All you did was sit on the couch and watch. You still have to go to work in the morning win lose or draw.
You don’t mess with a man’s property or his family. I highly doubt they’d have been that gutsy if he’d been standing there watching them.
Some people’s children. Disgraceful.
"Kicker Dean Prater followed a 7-for-7 preseason with two field goals in Cincinnati, one from 50 yards. "
add that to the 0-line comment.

the CPD said
our offensive line is a problem, citing the Orton and Simms injuries as the evidence. OK, Simms was playing with the second team and got illegally speared (for which the player was fined) when he was injured. Orton had a freak, smash-your hand into the helmet accident (just like Cutler did last year against the Patriots). Doesn’t jive for me.

Thanks NYC
Grossi said some good things, but the O-Line comment and Prater’s name just continues to show the ignorance of MSM. You’d think if that was your job you’d; I don’t know, try a little harder to be accurate. Afterall, none of us are paided and we generally do a much better and accurate job when composing pieces.
Carruci’s article was definitely a good read all around. I look forward to many more similar articles on the Broncos in the coming weeks. :-)

Banks SI story
was good to read. And besides the Chargers/AFC West bit, I’m sure everyone saw his bit on Jay Cutler but here’s a sampling:
Don’t believe the Jay Cutler hype. There were crowds of folks rushing to the conclusion that Cutler made the Bears instant Super Bowl contenders in the NFC, but why, given that Cutler had a losing record as a starter in his Denver career (17-20), and had never taken the Broncos to the playoffs? We got to see right away Sunday night in Green Bay what Denver fans already knew, namely that Cutler can hurt his team in some games much more than he helps it.
