Wow. So now that they're 1-0 on the heels of a miracle ending, he's the "Great McD" and the defense has "magic." How the tune changes after just one week...Actually, it's just the subtitle that's ridiculous. The article is just fine.

HAHA Doug
I know I am losing the red zone point with the greater football-watching world. Maybe, as more and more people read ST&NO, I can get them adopting the term “scoring area.” I actually define it as beginning at reasonable field goal difference. It’s still a good opportunity to score if you have the ball at the 25, and never get inside the 20. Just the way I roll, I guess. :)
Thanks for Horse Tracks as always.

I totally get your point, and it makes sense. I just like busting your chops, TB.

sorry man. Red Zone just has better PR, what can I say.

I entirely agree with you.
I look at field goal range as the real “red zone”, if such a term should exist.

well as good as Prater's leg is...
Ours is pretty long!
Now does it lose it’s pigment with inaccuracy?
Like the 30 to 40 zone gets kind of pink?

What a travesty about Billy Thompson . . .
A discussion regarding G.O.A.T.s in the secondary for the Broncos cannot be justly conducted without involving Billy Thompson. Yet when I scan the 50-year anniversary team, I see his name nowhere in that category.
Absurd.
People have just got to brush up on their Broncos history.
BILLY THOMPSON GOT SHAFTED!!
Yeah AZD, but anytime fans vote, youth and short memory spans will rule the day. It’s a shame to leave out Thompson, but I think they got it mostly right on the 50-year team. The Broncos have had so many great safeties, so was always going to be a tough call. I don’t think D.J., Crockett, Lepsis or Hamilton belong, but that’s just my opinion.

Glad Sharpe is staying involved
But is anyone else amused by the notion of Shannon of all people telling someone to keep his head down and his mouth shut?
Shannon may have had a huge mouth, but he was always the consummate team player and a hard worker. Oh, and he scored lots of touchdowns. Basically, everything that made him great is what BMarsh should be striving for.

Revisionist History
Don’t misunderstand me. I think Shannon was a great player. But he was NOT for the first few years. He could not block to save his soul. His mouth ran constantly and he was a braggard. He is now getting all this press about how great he is, and I don’t like it. He was not a team player, he slacked off constantly, and always seemed more interested in how he appeared in the press than how he played on the field.
harsh, I'm struggling to remember SS the slacker/non-team player
Never did like his loud mouth but I have to fall back on the “if you can walk the walk” saying…

I think that's partially why
Sharpe has taken to Marshall and sees himself in him both good and bad. Meaning, Sharpe really got his act together after the early immature period you mention. So why shouldn’t he be able to talk to Marshall about how he got his act together and changed his outlook, and with that went on to have a hall of fame career? I would think Marshall would rather talk to someone like that, who was similarly brash and got his act together as opposed to someone he can’t relate to, who was perfect from the start.

lol
But he knew when to mouth off (drawing fouls from opponents) and when not to (with your own team).

Breakfast club. GREAT COACHING
From DP Bronco Briefs
Rookie defensive linemen Chris Baker, who is the team’s backup nose tackle, and Everette Pedescleaux, who is on the team’s practice squad, start their days with a meeting with defensive line coach Wayne Nunnely.
The two sit down with the longtime NFL assistant at 7:30 each morning and go over the previous day’s practice video.
“It’s really a great session,” Nunnely said. "I really enjoy it because you get a chance to sit there, and not only do I correct them, but I have them correct themselves because it’s more important that they understand the technique
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also DREAM; not only plan, but also BELIEVE.
God, I wish they'd put Armstrong's useless columns on "Premium"
That way I wouldn’t feel inclined to click on them. I mean, asking about Billy Thompson is great and all, but every Saturday, I click on his article again, and every Saturday, I walk away dazed and confused again.
"You were born to be a player. You were meant to be here. This moment is yours." -- Coach Herb Brooks' pregame speech prior to the Miracle on Ice
I appreciated the writeup on Gaffney
As the rest of the Broncos receivers endured those first difficult days grasping the nuances of the system, Gaffney did everything in his power to reduce the learning curve.
“When he first got here, he was lining us up, doing everything for us, telling us how to run routes,” Eddie Royal said. “He’s been great for us, and it’s good to have him here.”
“He is very tough, one of the toughest players I have ever coached,” McDaniels said. Not only did Gaffney play, but he finished with three catches for 25 yards. Most valuable of those receptions was a two-minute drill 21-yard catch.
A lot of folks had to wonder why Gaffney was brought in – after all, his career numbers aren’t all that impressive and lots of folks consider players by stats and metrics. It’s nice to get to know more about them and their value to the team.
