Guru and Friends Predict....Week 2 in the NFL
John and various members of the staff here are once again competing in the annual MHR Pick'em challenge. You will notice the Denver Broncos game is not included. We'll just say everyone roots for the Broncos each week! Guru's wife is a Patriots fan, so her pick will be of the Broncos game. Just so homerism doesn't affect the outcome again this year.
Please use this as the early game thread.

I'm excited for the game
None of you gave any love at all to Carolina, I’m expecting them to bounce back, they aren’t a bad team. And secondly sorry if this doesn’t belong here but…
I’m hoping to find any Bronco fans in Pittsburgh area that might want to try to find a bar that will put the game on during the Steeler game, or for future games, bars love when you come in numbers.
Some bold picks there… but ya gotta wonder if Guru’s Wife’s success is going to her head…. or if the kool-aid is just spiked. I mean, Ted reached picking Detroit, but Guru’s Wife has the Broncs winning twice in the same day…. = )
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok.
Shaquille O'Neal
Gurus' Wife is a Patriots fan...
so we Bronco fans pick the Patriots game and she doesnt, while she picks the Broncos game and we dont. ;-)r

Some interesting picks there
While the OAK/KC game can be a toss up, I think KC will take that and NE will rebound and start better today. The PHI/NO game just got more interesting since Kevin Kolb is going to be starting in place of McNabb. I wonder should things start to go south, will you see Garcia before games’ end. Oh and that DET pick is a bit of a stretch.

Week 1: DEN 12 CIN 7
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
The Detroit pick is a little odd based on the fact that they gave up 50 points
or something like that. I think Philly “upsets” NO. I don’t think they’ll lose at home. It’s sad how a lot of people turn on the SB runner-ups after they lose to the niners.

Welker out for NE
Along with Mayo. I picked NE, but I’ll be sweating that one. And here’s hoping the Giants can get to Romo, given the depleted secondary they’ll be going to battle with.
I had to do a last minute fantasy switch when I heard that.
Week 1: DEN 12 CIN 7
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
Javon Walker sighting in the OAK/KC game
I was surprised because I just haven’t heard anything about him for quite some time.
Week 1: DEN 12 CIN 7
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
Wow, Russell's accuracy is really bad
I mean there are some throws in this game that I just can’t understand why he can’t hit a guy 5-10 yds away from him…….sad.
Week 1: DEN 12 CIN 7
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
he's a $66 million dollar man, man. Cut him some slack! :P
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.
It is only 5 yards away with no pass rush
and the throw was high. I hope he throws like that next week.
Week 2: vs CLE
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
God, I hate being stuck watching the Chiefs and raiders.
But it is nice to see that both of them are still completely inept.

is it just you and me bro? lol slow day on MHR

I guess so.
Quite surprised. More company will arrive soon. Fortunalty I will be at the Bronco bar for the game though. :)
Week 2: vs CLE
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
Hey guys
I just turned on the KC/Oak game – is it the kind of struggle for mediocrity that the score and those three plays tends to indicate?
Hillis/Moreno in '09
How did he miss that pick-6?
Week 2: vs CLE

It would be so awesome if the Lions would beat Brett Favre...

Chargers
They moved a guy named Andre Coleman from the PS to the roster to fill the DE slot. Lo, how the mighty have fallen……
Hillis/Moreno in '09
Now with Williams out
I wonder if they will play some 4-3?
Week 2: vs CLE
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
Enough players?
Yes, that’s come up a lot. Right now, they’ve got
DE Jacques Cesaire, Andre Coleman
DT Ogemdi Nwagbuo
DE Luis Castillo, Vaughn Martin
I guess that they could try a 4-3, but they’ve only got 5 DL players. A single injury and no one can leave the game. It’s going to be a tough time for them.
Hillis/Moreno in '09
Tough indeed, especially since
Flacco looked good last week and better than last season. Baltimore’s running game has a chance to have a good day.
Week 2: vs CLE
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
The Bengals are making the Broncos Defense look spectacular and our offense look pedestrian.

I followed the link from the AFC West blog, but they listed w/o including the Broncs. Man, no respect at all….

he probably wasn't willing to part with a first rounder
for good reason, Seymour’s gonna want big $$$ after this season.

He'll be a UFA after this year.
I’m sure McD will take a long look at him.

I hope so. I would want to break the bank for a guy that old…but if we can get him for a relatively reasonable price then I’m all for it.

Alright, so the Chefs and raidaz are beating each up bad...
3 points a piece for them, and moving up and down the field for nothing. do the raidaz struggle to score against everyone?

Yes, pretty much
Russell has shown improvement, but he’s still erratic. The O line looked better last week, but the Chargers DL injury list is wild and that might have something to do with it. McFadden has 7 carries for 21 yards – great average, there. OAK is better, no doubt, but they’re still vulnerable.
Hillis/Moreno in '09
He’s overthrown like ten guys today.

LJ no question
why? Because he can go more than 3 carries without getting hurt.
"FLAG! Fail on the field. Re-do." -Disco_Stu
I don’t know. He’s not hurt as much…but he doesn’t really seem to make many big plays anymore. It could be because his line sucks.

28-21 bengals
Ocho just scored a TD and did the Lambeau leap. He found some bengals fans in the front row and jumped there. There were GB fans next to them and Ocho was promptly given the finger on national tv. I’m not sure you’ll see the highlight of it because of the massive number of middle fingers in the viscinity of Ocho, but it was spectacular, nonetheless.

lol, it was funny
He tried going directly behind the goalpost but the GB fans said nay nay. He put his hands together as if to say “PLEASE…………….” but they had none of it. So he ran along to the side of the end zone and found like three bengals fans and jumped there. There were GB fans on either side of them and held their fingers high……………
Classic. On live CBS, it was within full view. No blurs, but if it was on a highlight I guess they could blur it.
