ESPN Schlereth, Dukies, Clayton - Broncos 2-0

Mark Schlereth, the 'garbage front seven' and Broncos are top ten defense. What's up? Great pressure, bunch of sacks, many turnovers, and little scoring. Hum maybe you do not know defensive talent.

Jamie Dukes, Kyle Orton has a passer rating above 100%, your franchise QB Cutler, 61%. WOW a QB that does not turn the ball over or put your defense in terrible positions.

John Clayton, the Broncos ALREADY have two of the three wins you predicted. You REALLY do know football huh!

Amasing how the pundits put their foot in their mouths

They can all suck a lime man. :)

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

Is that similar

to a lemon man? I personally try to stay away from sucking men…..but whatever…. maybe they deserve it :-P rofl

Diet

I see Dukes is on a diet and has lost over a 100 lbs!! Let’s hope he is able to eat crow because it looks like he is gonna be DEAD WRONG ABOUT OUR BOYS!!

I have FAITH in what McDaniels is doing, and how he goes about it!

I think we gave Quinn too much time to throw

…on too many occasions. And we’re still a bit soft over the middle in pass defense.

But beyond that, the defense has shown it can get pressure at key moments, and we aren’t letting teams get big plays on us. The goal early on seems to be to take away the run and the deep pass, get pressure on the QB, and work for turnovers.

If we manage a win next week, Clayton is going to have to pray for an 0-13 finish — with two games left against the Chiefs and a game at home against the Raiders.

It’s hardly worth calling yourself “the Professor” when what you are is the “Professor of Fail.”

by JeffG on Sep 20, 2009 7:26 PM MDT reply actions

I think so too

Quinn had time to throw on a couple possessions, but I’ll chalk that up to the cleveland line…well, at least the left side. we do need to work on getting consistent pressure. When that happens, we will be a very dangerous defense. Hopefully Ayers can be that guy. I saw him matched up against Joe Thomas when Doom was terrorizing Quinn, and he actually had a decent bull rush vs Thomas

by milehighnation on Sep 20, 2009 9:12 PM MDT up reply actions

agree- sometimes way too much time

Those Cleveland guys as big up fropnt as they looked? I haven’t looked up their size, but they visibly looked huge to me. Maybe the white uni’s.

Hey Jeff- Loved the “Professor of Fail”. We could probably do a bunch of titles for his profession!

I keep reading where people say....

Well it is only Cincy and Cleveland but look what Cincy did to Green Bay today!
Best part is this defense should just get better (barring injury)
Did the Broncos have any major injuries today?

by Bronco Bob on Sep 20, 2009 8:32 PM MDT reply actions

I don’t believe so.

Throw Eric Allen under a bus while you're at it

He predicted Denver would have the #1 pick in the 2010 draft a couple of months ago!

by xandervan on Sep 20, 2009 9:04 PM MDT reply actions

I think he’d take that back now. The Bears probably won’t go 1-15.

Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?

I think Clayton believes we will go 0-13 if we win the first three

We just can’t beat the Giants, Dallas, San Diego, New England, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh or any of the other teams we face the rest of this season. That’s according to Clayton.

I think the Patriots are ripe for the picking, they’re rebuilding. Hopefully they won’t be rebuilt when we face them. Brady is scary good though. Boys scored a ton of points against the Giants, so they may be harder to shut down than I thought. Perhaps the Giant’s D isn’t as good as I thought. There is still a lot of football to play, and none of those games, IMHO, are unwinnable (I know, not a word)

Anyways, right now, we have a better record than the Pats, Steelers, Giants and CHARGERS. We’re in first, baby! Woot!!

This is our team, let's have fun with it! - dmitchell624

The Cowboys played their 1.2 billion home opener

…against a Giants team that was missing Canty and its entire secondary.

And they lost.

Their offensive line stood up well, though. Tough to say with them.

by JeffG on Sep 21, 2009 7:33 AM MDT up reply actions

Was that a good run offense

or a terrible Giants run defense, it was hard to tell. The holes looked big enough to drive a truck through. I’d hate to think that the Dallas O-line is so good that they just blow defenders completely out of sight.

Woody Paige deserves the woodshed as well

Don’t forget that tool at the DP predicting 4 wins. Remember that “Run for the hills” article he wrote after the first pre-season game.

This is a well-coached lunch-pail team. They’ll do fine. And so far no significant injuries.

I don't quite share this great vendetta

But, the MSM (bandwagoners by nature) are starting to hop on. Not that it means anything if and when they do. 75% of this board is more knowledgeable than these pundits as has always been the case. Again, given what MSM is, you had to expect anti-Bronco sentiment from the last 6 months.

I think it’s actually good for the team and has expedited the culture change.

by rururuland784 on Sep 21, 2009 3:15 AM MDT reply actions

I am

cautiously optimistic, but I like our chances this year. The Raider game scares me, but I think that we can take Dallas and New England the next two weeks. The Cowboys are a bunch of chokers and losers. I think that we have a better D than they do. And, New England is going downhill. They should be staring 0-3 in the face against Gonzo and Matty Ice this sunday. I also think that we can beat the Steelers and Giants at home. The games that will scare me the most are the Chargers(because we have trouble with their O) and Baltimore. I was so happy that the Ravens beat SD yesterday. Right now, Baltimore is my SB team in the AFC, and Atlanta in the NFC.

by PABroncofan on Sep 21, 2009 4:57 AM MDT reply actions

I'll take a road loss to Baltimore

if it means we get home wins against the Steelers and Giants, any day.

And as far as SD goes, this is not that Broncos team — we had trouble with their O, but we don’t know yet if this team will. Sproles is dangerous, as is Rivers, but we might be surprised with this new D.

by BroncosBassist on Sep 21, 2009 8:49 AM MDT up reply actions

I know that

Forte is no Sproles…..but….isn’t he supposed to be up there? and we held him to what 3.5 ypc? I could be wrong but SD does not scare me in the slightest, and Oakland looks good only because KC and SD are….well…..in the weakest division of football that I’m aware of. Yes that lumps us in, but we have gotten our wins outside the West…….Next week we put an AFC West W under our belts and move on with the rest of the league again…….
And after watching cinci Harp on GB….even if we won with a “Miracle” (or my IMO heads up football) We still stopped them a lot harder than GB did. so I think we don’t have a single un-winnable game this season after everything I’ve seen. No I don’t think 16-0 is realistic……but the fact that, after what I’ve seen, its possible. That, to me, says 13-3 is on the Horizon as plausible.

If this defense stays on the same track this year it will be hard for anybody to beat us.

The same for the 49ers they looked pretty good Sunday as well. Is the East taking a back seat this year? Hmm…we’ll see.

by bfree2bronc on Sep 21, 2009 4:33 PM MDT reply actions

Happy

to be 2—0 and I think we will beat the Raiders to go to 3-0 but I still don’t see us being a playoff team but I will be happy to be wrong about that. Offense is going to have to start stepping up like it did in the 2nd half because I don’t think the defense can keep their current pace up. Defense should have another great week against the Raiders though before seeing a complete offense in the Cowboys.

by broncorob on Sep 21, 2009 8:21 PM MDT reply actions

if we throw Clayton under the bus.......

make room for Colin CowTURD!!!! He said we would win only one game this year. Clayton said we were a “PAPER TIGER” and that if we won next week, we would lose the next eight or nine straight.

by newby on Sep 21, 2009 9:10 PM MDT reply actions

Ya know,

I’ve been scouring over the net and watching SC and what not, and not once, ONCE, have I even seen a highlight from this game and I DAMN SURE haven’t heard any of these so called experts giving ANY credit what so ever to our team. That’s fine, to hell with them. I knew that’s how it would be anyways. Keep on truckin’ guys and gals. I know it’s a marathon but it sure feels good to be 2-0. GO BRONCOS!

Take my advice, I'm not using it !!!
