Kyle Orton, Denver
Analysis: Won as a young player (21-12 starting record) … strong arm … personality and work ethic endear him to teammates … has not shown a consistent ability to change trajectory and ball speed on various throws

Thanks, very interesting
It kind of blends in with my belief that its not KO being unable to throw long as much as it is that he either is not being asked to do so, or that he has an aversion to risk which causes him to check down regularly. Although it could be argued either way, at present I think he is taking his cue from the coach, and the coach chose him because he had already shown he would take the cue. I would take either option (coach oversight or nartural aversion to the risk) over having the gunslinger mentality replace a good scheme.
However, its pretty obvious (at least to my thinking) that the best of all worlds would be a great mix of strength, natural ability, and intelligent use of scheme on each play, and then taking a reasonable risk to try to make something happen if the overall situation in the game demands it. However, my leanings are a bit conservative unless you have somebody with just that mixture, like…….Elway, for example. Don’t see it often, though.
Not sure how much weight--if any--to put in Trent Dilfer's opinion...but, "...strong arm..."!!!
“…strong arm…”!!! That got my attention. I hope it is based on actual film watching and experience, not just something he heard somewhere. If so, it would suggest that we might see the long ball every so often to keep defenses honest.
