Stuck in San Francisco
So I live in San Francisco, or more importantly on Sunday, within 75 miles of the Oakland Coliseum. That means that game is blacked out for me, the local bar, my buddy with the Sunday Ticket package... and my gameday plan of sitting on the couch with my wife, chatting with you all and watching the Broncs own the Coliseum is foiled.
This is not a question of whether the blackout is good or bad, just how to deal with it. If you wanna discuss the merits of the blackout, our friend BChiper just put up a post here on just that issue.
As I see it I have a number of options, and I want the MHR faithful's opinion.
I could:- Fold to the pressure of the almighty league, get tickets to the game on Craigslist, and risk my life wearing my MHR shirt and bright orange Broncos puffy vest to the Coliseum. Yell loud and proud, avoid the bathroom - and keep the eyes open!
- Fold to the pressure of the almighty league and the crazy faider fans, get tickets on Craigslist but go to the game incognito in a random old hoody. Pretend to root for Javon Walker if he gets in the game.
- Road trip! Get in the car and drive to Sacramento, Monterey or Fresno. Some bar will be showing the game. Nurse 2 beers and drive home.
- Listen to the game on the radio and gets some errands done. Papa and Flores do an alright job, even if they are homers.
- Screw the league! Someone will stream this game online - just work around their $&#*% blackout and watch the game already! (I am not advocating breaking the law here, though it is an obvious option. MHR does not condone illegal streaming of games.)
- Skip the game altogether. Go sit in Golden Gate park, read the Times and catch some highlights on the news later. NFL.com will stream it, too - on Monday.
What do you all think? Vote below!
This is a Fan-Created Comment on MileHighReport.com. The opinion here is not necessarily shared by the editorial staff of MHR

No Question
Drive to Monterey, grab a bite on Fisherman’s Wharf and find a bar to watch the game with the gulls in the background. A beautiful drive. Just do it.
A man does what he has to do, and sometimes it’s not what I believe he should do. There’s no reason to use up energy hating him for it. Shoot him if you have to, but don’t hate him.

Yeah
I suggested that to my wife initially. She wasn’t as thrilled. Maybe it is the Jeep Wrangler’s herky jerky ride. Anyone wanna join me on a trip to lovely Monterey Bay?
Added bonus is I could stop by the aquarium and see the leafy sea dragons (coolest creature in the sea, hands down!)

I’d love to, but I’m stuck in Colorado. Listen, abduct your wife if you have to. Tie her up and throw her in the Jeep. By the time you get to Half Moon Bay, she’ll be thanking you. On to Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay. After the Broncos trounce the Raiders, on the way back, stop in Santa Cruz for coffee and maybe a liqueur. You might get a beautiful sunset over the ocean.

Quality concerns
my experience here in Idaho and with catching the games on my computer has not been that satisfactory. Hard to watch the game with all the jerky footage coming through. Used to be better.

It really, really stinks,
Although, when the Raiders blackout and they aren’t playing the Broncos, it increases our chances of getting a Broncos game to watch…………

How to survive the black hole
I, too, live in the bay area. Or, I should say I did until my company sent me to Germany a year ago. Anyway, this is not about where I live. I have gone to many Bronco’s/Raiders games in Oakland, and lived to tell about it!
The key is to wear really dark blue (to stay true), ray bans (all the convicts will steer clear of you), and cheer for EVERY big play. After a while the people around you just think you are a drunk idiot, but at least you really get to cheer loudly for the Bronco’s good plays.
On the down side, you have to cheer a bit for the Raiders. I am not saying you try to disturb Orton and offense, just when a big play happens.
That is my advice – it works. An alternative, is to buy Club level seats and wear a jacket for getting in and out of the game.
Colorado native living in Germany. Go Broncos!

Kinda like turning to one convict when the raiders put a bit hit on Orton and say;
Yeahhhh…. did you see that SOB slam him? Then when the Broncos slam Russell three or 4 times, turn to the convict on your left and shove him and say what the hell was that??? Confusion…these people can’t deal with confusion. LMAO….They’ll be looking at each wondering what went wrong. Awesome. Oh, PS take a peace keeper too just in case.

Another Option
Wear the blue and orange proudly, cheer as loud and as long as the fans will let you. Get beat up. Sue the team for millions of dollars for not having enough security in place to protect you. Ok sure, its going to hurt for a while when you are healing and the surgeries might not be fun, but the upside is when you do heal, you take your millions of dollars, buy a house outright in Denver, and never miss another game.
Ok might not be a good one, just saying its an option.
There is no charge for awesomeness, or attractiveness!!

going to the game
I’m going to the game. I haven’t seen the Broncos in years, and I wimped out last year on Monday night to miss one of the biggest Broncos smackdowns in recent memory. I still think the best plan is to go in gray (not silver and black) and just boo Jamarcus Russell. I’m sure I won’t be the only one doing that.

In the Same Boat
I have been weighing all the same options…and I found it interesting that “streaming on the internet” seems to be the leader (at least when I wrote this it was)…and that is what I was going to try to do, but I never have had any luck doing that in the past (when the game was simply not televised here because the tRaiders were playing an away game.)
Now that “Watch YOur Broncos” is shut down, I am not even sure where to look for info about where/how to watch…so I’ll probably get some yard work done and listen to Papa….is there anything more satisfying than listening to him when the tRaiders are getting hammered…he sounds like he wants to cry! Maybe he is crying…he has had ample opportunity to do so over the last few seasons…hadn’t thought about Monterey….I was thinking Sacramento might be OK…anyone know in “Bronco Bars” in SacTown….

I live in Virginia
I’ve worn my Elway Jersey to Buffalo, Indy, Pittsburg, Cincy and Cleveland. I’ve been cussed at, had beers thrown on me, punched and insulted.
I did it all for the love of the game and you should too!

You could
Ask one of your fellow Bronco fans on here that has the superfan package if you can ‘borrow’ their sign-on to watch online and stream the game since they will be watching it on their tv. If I had one I would hook you up with it, but I have a huge mountain in between my house and the satellite.

I have a question...
Is streaming the games illegal or is watching the streamed games illegal, or both?
"When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back." - "Miracle".
"Winning means you're willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else." - Vince Lombardi.

Good question
Presumably both are illegal. One is illegally reproducing copyrighted material. One is consuming illegal copyrighted material.
Kinda like with DVD’s – it is illegal to pirate DVD’s and sell ’em on the street but also illegal to buy and possess them (they will get confiscated at a border, for example). Thing is enforcement is generally on the former side, excepting the RIAA and their ridiculous crusade against consumers.
Don’t get me started on copyright law. I can go on about it all day!

Jonah, this post is really funny, rec'd
Here’s what I do the many times they don’t air games here.
Open at least three windows on the net.
One for CBS scoreboard game-tracker, One to stream a Denver radio station, and One to shoot the breeze in MHR’s gametime thread.
Doesn’t beat watching—but it is tolerable.
I know you probably know this, but here are the links I use.
For radio:
http://www.freefootballradio.com/
for CBS game tracker:
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/scoreboard
I keep gametracker open even when the game is televised, just to watch the stats.

Thanks Mike
My inner geek knows that I have plenty of info at my fingertips to make it work that way. But I sure do like watching the game!
Thanks for the links, they may come in handy today! And for the rec – I didn’t expect a single rec for this silliness so that’s icing on the cake.

I'm going to be on the water in Newport Bay
sailing a 30’ boat; so I have to settle for text updates via my cell phone, then watching the game in the evening on NFL Rewind. :(
