ok we went from looking pretty good from a health standpoint to now missing a top WR and RB. what the heck. and what’s up with brandon marshall’s status?

BMArsh is not listed, meaning he is good to go.

Interesting
Seymour’s status smells fishy – he’ll be out there. I think Brandon is “well” and he’ll be there too. Some concern with both Stokes and KnoMo – once again, may be “games”.

They will rest them if any doubt...
So they are right to go. Both Stokes and KM will be good to go!
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
All I want is 53 Rod Smiths. Is that asking too much????

LKS
Good to see him on the mend. When he and Spencer are ready to go, it will be like adding two quality free agents to an already above-average defense. We’ll be gaining momentum instead of losing it to cheap hammy pulls like the teams of recent past.

Good news at least
is that Hamilton is okay. Was worried about that one, too. Stokley’s important, really value having him at slot. I guess Jaffney can fill that role?
Was looking forward to seeing Knowshon vs the raiders, hope he’s okay…

Might mean more Kenny Mac?
Gaffney probably stays wide, so maybe McKinley gets some looks in the slot.

the depth chart
makes me believe that we would see Gaffney in the slot before McKinnely. If Marshall is ready for more reps (last week he wasn’t, although the media is crucifying us because they “have no idea why healthy Marshall is sitting”. Uhhhhh could it be ALL THE CRAP YOU’VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT FOR THREE MONTHS? Just watch him play and you’ll see he hasn’t been ready for action yet. Hopefully this week.
If anything I think we see Loyd/Royal out wide with Gaff in the slot and moving back out wide for two-WR looks.

You're probably right
I’m probably just hoping to see more of McKinley.

As far as the Raiders are concerned...
…I’m glad Schilens isn’t ready yet. He’s their best receiver by a wide margin.. funny considering he’s a 7th round pick.
That being said, JLH is back.. so it’s two weeks in a row we have a dynamic returner to worry about.

Seems Knowshon’s made of glass.
Any time I see him get hit, I cringe thinking he’s going to be out.
Seems like he’s limping after every run.
Main concern is Stokely of course…

I’m sure Moreno is still behind in terms of conditioning after holding out for a little while, but he’s by no means an injury-prone player.

Interesting, considering he never missed time due to injury at Georgia.

I bet
what they r doing with moreno is taking it easy on him since a groin is an injury that is easy to re injure. by gametime he should be fine
by Colby on Sep 25, 2009 5:22 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
I think Knowshon will be fine,
probably just being cautious

While we're on the subject..
..what do the different injury classifications even mean? If you knew a guy was going to play, could you list him as Doubtful anyway? Is it just an honor system? Seems stupid unless I’m missing the point. What’s the difference between Questionable and Doubtful?
by ELGee on Sep 25, 2009 6:58 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
I'm pretty sure
Doubtful is defined as < 50% chance to play, questionable about 50% chance to play and probable > 50% chance to play.

How is that even possible to define?
Just seems way too ambiguous to me. You could, in theory, list a completely healthy guy as Doubtful just to mess with the other teams gameplan.. copy listing a hurt guy as Probable. There has to be some kind of ramifications for doing so, though I dunno how on Earth it’d be policed.
by ELGee on Sep 25, 2009 8:50 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I've wondered about that...
The geek in me thinks the league should analyze the statistics of injury reports over the season compared with the actual participation of players. For example, is the actual participation rate of “doubtful” players for team X in the range of 25%. Teams whose reports and actual participations are out of whack would have some ’splaining to do.
Don’t know if they actually do this, but it wouldn’t be hard for them to do so.

doesn't affect our game but..
Gee what a surprise, Tomlinson is hurt and won’t play. I have no doubt though that he’ll have many expressive faces while sitting on the bench.

Most annoying prediction
from the Charlotte Observer:
DENVER* at OAKLAND: The Broncos* have introduced the asterisk to the NFL standings this year. The Broncos* are 2-0 but because they’ve beaten Cleveland and Cincinnati it doesn’t count as an official 2-0. The asterisk will remain if the Broncos* beat the Black Hole this weekend. Not going to happen. Black Hole 31, Broncos* 21.
What kind of garbage is that? Did they cheat? Should they give back their wins because they won handily in one game and beat a pretty solid team on the road on a last second play in the other? And if they win this week they still have an asterisk? What an a**.

He's probably just upset and jealous
because the team he’s supposed to cover has a turnover machine as a QB, and has gone from potential playoff contender to also-ran in the space of two weeks
by djmbluemoon on Sep 26, 2009 12:50 AM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
So the Broncos have no chance to beat the Raiders, but the asterisk will remain if they do? Rrrrriight. The “In My Opinion” title make me think it’s a fan submission. That and the fact it’s so poorly written.
by ELGee on Sep 26, 2009 9:38 AM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'm sure it's been stated some where else but...
As far as I can tell, we will see a continual rotation at WR to keep opposing Ds on their toes. I think each week will feature a different guy. Keep in mind we still haven’t seen a game where we use our TEs a lot (catching the ball that is). I think this also helps keep guys healthy throughout the whole season. Coach really does seem to take a look at what their D will give up and attack that. Don’t over expose your team and let future teams see how you will use guys until you have to. What do you all think?
