Horse Tracks 9/26/09 - Stokley, Moreno questionable; Raiders try to kick Gannon out of their sandbox
DB - Week 3 - Fri: McDaniels - Broncos TV

Robert Ayers is familiar with JaMarcus Russell and Darren McFadden from their college days, while Josh McDaniels knows Richard Seymour quite well. Ben Hamilton is probable for Sunday, while Brandon Stokley and Knowshon Moreno are questionable. Several WRs wore pajama pants for yesterday's practice.
DB - Reaching for High Expectations - Zach Eisendrath
Alphonso Smith says he "lobbied" to get a locker spot in between Champ and BDawk. Smith has impressed his older teammates despite being too short to play in the NFL, not rated as a first-rounder by several draft "experts," and basically being traded for the 5th-overall pick in the 2010 Draft, which is supposed to be the Greatest Draft In History (but that means we'd only want a top-5 pick, not say the 15th or 20th pick).

Can’t believe the Raiders are honestly comparing Gannon to a dog. Ouch. The man only took you to the SuperBowl, losers.

Gannon knows a good time when he see's one
“He’s repeatedly said that they should just blow up the building and start all over again,” senior executive John Herrera said Friday.

Hopefully Asomugha will make his way out of Chokeland someday
I love that guy and it just drives me crazy that he’s a Raider. Dude, you wouldn’t even fit in a police line-up, much less fit the profile of the Raiders!

He could have gotten out if he wanted
But he chose to sign a new deal with Al. He’s a Raider forever.
A man does what he has to do, and sometimes it’s not what I believe he should do. There’s no reason to use up energy hating him for it. Shoot him if you have to, but don’t hate him.

keep in mind
he’s playing for the “home team” (Cal grad) so I think getting to stay in the bay area is part of why he re-signed. Alas.

Yes, I know
I thought about the Cal connection, and I love the Bay area myself. Tough choice for a nice guy. And, alas, I agree with you. Alas. Would have been nice to see him in Dnever. Or at least on the other side of the Bay.

Thanks NYC your work here is invaluable.
Great rant on Phonse. A classic. Made me feel better on an extremely hung over Saturday morning (one of my best friends is getting married today). No better cure for this situation than a tall cup of coffee, some horse tracks, and mellow Neil Young tunes.

9/11
LOL @ Raiders brass calling Gannon’s ‘blow up the building’ comments ‘insensitive in a post-9/11 world’. It’s like when Lois Griffin ran for Mayor of Quahog.

I heard Gannon trained at a terrorist camp in Kansas City
and is actually Shanahan’s secret son and a conspirator in Gruden’s plan to destroy the franchise.

Wonder if Al has hired a writer to help him invent
these conspiracy theories regarding employees and ex-employees?
We should have someone on this website keep track of the various attempts to undermine the Raider Empire. Next year’s excuse; J-Fat Bustell. Was really a spy sent from the Hut home world to destroy the Raiders through poor QB play and misallocation of funds.

The faiders' very existence...
Is insensitive to a post Merger world.
But really, while the faiders since 2002 have been quite tragic I think comparing themselves to 9-11 is a little over the top.
Besides, speaking of dogs Gannon WAS trying to be sensitive. When you see an animal suffering you put it down out of compassion. Jokeland’s last good QB is just suggesting putting an old three legged hound out of its misery. PETA should give him a medal.

This game is a must-win if...
Well actually, it isn’t a must-win. But we should win this to get up 3-0 so that our guys can feel confident going into the hard portion of our schedule.

to be honest
I had fairly low expectations this year anyway, so I haven’t really felt like any game is a must win. Just totally psyched to get those Ws! McDaniels rox.

While it won't prove the Broncos are contenders if they win...
If they lose, it will show that they’re not. I don’t see the Broncos getting to the playoffs without sweeping both Oakland and Kansas City.
by Velveeta on Sep 26, 2009 1:32 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
I think
3 out of 4 of those games would be good enough to stay in contention. Splitting with the Raiders and sweeping the Chiefs is probably enough in that division tho I agree with you that by all intents and purposes they won’t look like a legit contender unless they do that. But winning in Oak and KC is never easy even when those teams are weak.

no way, I agree with the cheese
I really think a game like this… winning a game like this, a game we’re ‘supposed to win’, third win in a row… could be the difference later when we lose a couple and folks in the locker room choose whether or not to stand strong behind their very young coach (who’s already been under the micro-scope). To begin with a three game winning streak when the whole world called you incompetent? Or the “these are the real Broncos” comments we’ll hear from every NFL head, if we lose!
A loss tomorrow could be a huge confidence/momentum killer. HUGE.
More pressure than ever to beat the Raiders!!
Go Broncos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
