NFL - Carolina Panthers 7 at Dallas Cowboys 21
Felix Jones was productive last night but left with a knee injury. The Cowboys' D took it away three times, including a pick six by Terence Newman. The Dallas offense racked up 449 yards and did not turn it over in dominating the time of possession 37:04 to 22:56. Like the Broncos, Dallas failed in their red zone (1/4) and goal-to-go (1/3) scenarios.

Win Predictions

We have 3 +
High Probability of Victory: KC (2), Oakland, Washington
Favorable Matchups: Dallas, SD (at home), Pittsburgh

That’s 10 and I’m being extremely cautious! This is a 10+ win football team. No doubt about it.

P.S. John Clayton can SU*K IT!

by Future Bronco DC on Sep 29, 2009 6:40 AM MDT reply actions   0 recs

I voted 12 or more

Colts look unbeatable, and Baltimore and Philadelphia will be very difficult, in large part because they are on the east coast. The other games are all very winnable. Broncos haven’t begun to peak yet.

A man does what he has to do, and sometimes it’s not what I believe he should do. There’s no reason to use up energy hating him for it. Shoot him if you have to, but don’t hate him.

Sticking with my prediction of 10-6

that I made after the draft.

However, it’s looking like that might make us contenders for the AFC West. If we end up winning more, I will be extremely happy and elated with being on the low end of the win picks. :)

A proud prognostication of 10-6 in 2009!!!

Good Mornin nyc, Thanks for Tracks, I

voted for 10 – 11, the cowboys last night did’nt look all that
strong until Jones talked to them at half time ( I believe )
and told them not to embarass him again at jerrys world again…

9-7..

That was my prediction (btw my friends told me i was crazy) after watching the pre-season games. If we win more than that then all is good in Broncoland. Got a good feeling for this week. Go Broncos!

by wisco on Sep 29, 2009 7:51 AM MDT reply actions   0 recs

That was my prediction as well wisco,

although now I can see a potential 10th or 11th win.

Thanks Nyc

I voted 10-11, but still believe 13-3.
Chris Tanaka had two nice quotes:

“The Redskins are just awful. Paging Mike Shanahan!”

“The Browns and Raiders will be messing up two of the first five picks in next years draft, like they always do.”

Matt Bowen, congratulations on leading the media charge for the last seats on the Bronco bandwagon.

A voted 10-11

I am an avid cool-aid drinker, unfortunately I’m also a realist, and this causes many many headaches….(kool-aid hangover?)

I will chant 13-3 until the day we are not, but looking at the schedule we are 3-0 now obviously,

Dallas- We should win

New England – We stand a chance here, if we can stop the running game, and shut down moss. Pressure is the name of the game.

San Diego – W

Baltimore -too tough to call

Pittsburgh – TTTC

Washington – W

San Diego – W

New York Giants -probably a loss but TTTC

Kansas City -W

Indianapolis – probably a loss but TTTC

Oakland -W

Philadelphia – TTTC

Kansas City -W

Thanks NYC,

After watching last nights game, I realized how similiar the Cowboys offense is to the Broncos of 08. They have all the tools on offense to put up points quick, but they never finish drives. Carolina should have been blown out with their atrocious defensive play yesterday(missed one armed tackles, over pursuing, blown assignments, etc…) but somehow Dallas managed to keep them in the game through most of the fourth quarter until their defense won the game for them. Dallas played down to the competition the whole game.

They threw 2 incompletions from the 1 yard line, with the biggest OL in the league. Very Jeremy Bates-like.

I guess this is what happens when you have OC’s trying to prove they are geniuses. You don’t look brilliant by running the ball.

McDaniels on Jim Rome

Hey guys, just heard beginning of Jim Rome on the radio, said that Josh McDaniels will be on the show in the 2nd hour. Which is after 10 here on the West Coast, depending on when it airs near you. Should be interesting.

Heh

honestly didn’t think we’d start to get the crow-eating until after we beat the Cowgirls. Maybe it’s now a forgone conclusion and they want to get a head start? lol.
I voted for 8-9 as I’ve always thought, because our O still has a lot of work to gell in this new system and a lot of learning the new schemes and reads. Plus we still need to improve on our ST returns. And injuries here and there could really throw off a game or two. However, if we keep improving at the current rate, and avoid a key injury or two, I will say that I’m leaning toward 11 games and taking the division.

We play them tough and they'll be a change of tune

I worry about that Cowboy running game.

The Cowboys are similar to the Raiders, with the exception that Romo is a whole lot better than JaMarcus Russell. We need to maintain gap discipline, protect the edges, and take away the TE over the middle.

Talk about the bandwagon...

Guy in my office just cannot get OVER the whole ‘Cutler’ thing, and was hating on McDaniels something fierce all through the offseason. Everything McDaniels did was ‘stupid’ and ‘idiotic’ and ‘destructive’.

I tried to point out a lot of the things we talk about in here, that there is a clear strategy developing, the bad players are being let go and better players are brought in. Just look at the defense we put together and anyone could see prior to opening day they HAD to at least be better than last year.

But no, being first in a couple of Fantasy leagues obviously makes you a more qualified football mind than a multiple Super Bowl winning assistant coach. So McDaniels is an idiot. And all of us here at MHR were just drinking the ‘Kool Aid’.

Now, he’s grudgingly changing his tune, as I point out that Denver isn’t doing anything I haven’t been trying to tell him they might do for weeks now. But says he won’t be ready to root for Denver again until they win at least six games.

You know what? This is a free country but you’re either a fan or you’re not. And this person – and a lot of people like him – are not fans, they’re fans of ‘being’ a fan. They just want to root for someone who is already winning so they vicariously bask in someone else’s success.

Are their lives empty? Their souls? Are they just insecure or cowardly? Who knows, but to each their own.

For me at least, part of the joy in being a fan is supporting your team when they’re down. Anybody can root for a winner, but if you REALLY want to feel an indirect thrill from someone else’s victory then I suggest you support them when they really need you – when they’re NOT winning.

I bumped into Champ Bailey at DIA a little over a year ago, and I waited until everyone got their autographs, and he was done politely taking photos with those who wanted them. I approached, held out my hand and he looked at me like he was waiting for me to hand him a pen. I just shook his hand and said:

“Champ, I don’t need an autograph, just wanted to say that I don’t care what anyone says, I am a fan for life. Win or lose.”

He blinked and said thanks. “That’s what I like to hear” he said.

I don’t know how much of an impression that really made but I meant it and it sure seemed like he appreciated it. And that made me feel good. And the fact that they’re turning it around now makes me feel all the better for sticking around.

You’re either a fan or you’re not. Just one man’s opinion, but that’s what it is.

Excellent

I agree with every point you make.

by AllBroncsallday on Sep 29, 2009 11:17 AM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess I should add

That isn’t to say as a fan you can’t question the team’s decisions or take issue with things that they do, but I say you’re either with them or you’re not. There’s no shame in just walking away.

That ‘Jay Cutler’ fellow, whoever he is will gladly accept your cheers up in Chicago. LOL

Poll

I predicted 5-11 before the season started even though I thought a good start was possible. However, because the D is so much better than I had expected, I just voted for 8 or 9. With me, the koolaid still goes down slowly, but it tastes pretty good!

I like this...

“"There’s no vindication because there’s nothing to be vindicated about," McDaniels said.”

I wonder if McD will only feel vindicated by a super bowl win?

by NDbronco on Sep 29, 2009 12:04 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm admitting this now

The Dallas game scares me, but not for reasons you would expect. It scares me because I’m seeing a Broncos team that is more than capable of beating Dallas, with solid play in all phases of the game. I’m not worried about the game plans, execution, and intensity. I’m just not too worried.

So, basically, I’m scared because I’m not scared. What’s wrong with me?!?! :o)

Weird feeling huh,

Kinda got the same feeling in my stomach. I can’t come up with a reason why the Cowboys should beat us, unless we beat ourselves. If McDaniels has showed us anything thus far, is that he will not allow his team to be unprepared for a game. So I guess this uneasy feeling must be leftover from the previous years.

Exactly!

I was just trying to describe this when your post came up. I have been a Bronco fan for as long as I can remember and I just can’t get over the last decade. It just feels like they are due to get gashed on defense (think Cory Dillon and NFL single game record) even though I know logic suggest otherwise. Maybe I need therapy?

by Quietone on Sep 29, 2009 1:29 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

As I think about it, it’s like a low-level, NFL-based version of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. We have been conditioned by fast starts, leading to excitement, which is then dashed by an egg right around game four.

So I’m sitting here, trying to think of ways in which Denver will lose the game (as opposed to Dallas actually winning it), and I can’t think of any. I just don’t believe these players will beat themselves, and as a result, they’ll be in this game. I can’t promise a win, but I need to accept the good feelings that come with a team that always has a chance.

I'm scared too

but it’s not because I’m not scared. I’m like Quietone and Disco, I’m waiting for the crappy Broncos D to show up, or for a better offense to just gash us for innumerable yards. I’m conditioned by the years of starting fast and falling flat. Game 4, it’s when the bottom falls out of this pipe dream. I need this next game. I need to see our defense stifle them before I can take a sip of the Koolaid.
