Former Broncos in the UFL
I checked out the site for the new league and the first thing I noticed... well... you have no choice but to notice the gaudy color scheme. They're a cross between day-glo and pastel. And all of the teams use colors from that weird category.
I don't want to go on too much about the colors, but in a Periodic Table where hydrogen is red, and helium blue, these colors are lanthanoids.
Not to say they're ugly, but to cure yourself of maritial infidelity, dress your mistress in UFL-branded lingerie.
I also noted some former Broncos on the rosters:
Florida Tuskers: Tatum Bell, Patrick Chukwurah
New York Sentinels: Cecil Sapp
Las Vegas Locomotives: Jim Fassel, David Kirkus
California Redwoods: Nobody I remember.

Redwoods...
denver had Paul Carrington. he was with the broncs for about 17.5 hours, not counting his lunchtime. …okay, it was probably longer that that but it’s just good to know that the broncos represent.
i still think it’s weird to have 4 teams. i mean, i didn’t bother looking at the schedule (my guess is it’s pretty easy to figure out unless there’s divisions :-) ), but it’s gotta suck if you don’t make the playoffs, right?
It initially had more teams, dunno what happened
It’s gonna be hard for it to work with only 4 teams, kinda hard to develop a fan base when it’s that limited.

I think the league plans to expand soon
I also seem to remember that there might be a championship game between the top two teams, but that kind of seems redundant. I’ll be interested just because there will be a team nearby to pay attention to. We’ll see if they have the leadership to survive more than a season.

And the finances
I went back over the leagues that have been started over the decades. The only real threat to the NFL came from the AFL. The reason was simple – they were well financed. They were immediately able to bid on players (sparking a bidding war that increased player salaries) and the two had to merge to stay viable. The ones that have faded haven’t had the financial stability to remain players in the marketplace.

Man, Jim Fassel has been pimping himself for years trying to get back into the game
He must be happy to have some part in football again, I wish him well. Does anyone remember that letter he sent to Al Davis two years ago, practically begging to be hired as the Raiders new HC? I felt sorry for him.

Egad
I never heard of it. And you’re right about the colors. Looks like the Seattle Seasquawks partied too hard and puked up a salmonella ridden gull. Why didn’t they name gulls after the bay? Because then they would have been bagels…bada boom.
So is this the only alternative to the NFL? No more European league? No more Arena Leagues?
