Before the split, Miami sent in a request for permission to interview Nolan, sources close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The parting was friendly and gave Nolan a chance to move on and talk to the Dolphins, the source told Clayton.

So, what everyone seemed to think...
(that this was another example of an ego run wild) turns out to be something else. Miami contacted Nolan before any of this happened. Nolan was interested, maybe more than just interested, and asked Josh if he could go for the interview, which meant that they had to part ways. I’ll admit that I thought this was McD’s doing, and was really upset about it. Now with this little tidbit it totally puts a new spin on things.
That guy on Foxsports should let all the facts come in before leaping to conclusions. But, I guess, when you have an axe to grind you want to grind it.
It takes neither courage nor intelligence to cheer for a team only when that team wins. The true test of a fan's mettle is the same as it is for a player: Were you there when you were needed?

I though that too at first
when I heard that idiot Clayton talking about it breifly on that 4-letter network. I was like WTF, then realized that there had to me more to it. With that said it still sucks to lose Nolan. Hopefully the transition to the new DC will go smoothly.

I thought this was what happened
and I still think that Pees is really retiring for his health.
Character may be manifested in the great moments but it is made in the small ones -- Philip Brooks
and sometimes they move on because the
situation is untenable. We’ll never know because everyone is too classy to really get into it. Personally, I don’t see this as a positive, perhaps neutral at best. If we lose Nunnley (sp?) and Donatell as well, I don’t think I’m any happier. I’m really beginning to wonder about about this regime . . .
