I know one thing about Scheff.
The reason he won’t be here next year is not because of his attitude, but because he doesn’t fit in McD’s system. It’s interesting how Scheff said, “Him taking that away doesn’t sit very well with me or some of my teammates.” I wonder who else, besides Marshall, that he could be talking about? It’s kinda concerning.

Let me translate Bus Cook into ENGLISH. Here is what he just said:
“Bus Cook called me this morning and we thought I better put out a statement. Bus told me that if I don’t give a statement that gives the implication that I’m out there fighting for my teammates, I might get labelled as a troublemaker like my BFF Jay Cutler. So I’m putting this out there now. Bus told me to act very passionately in my statement so that other teams will see me as a team guy and I can maximize my next deal…and soon. I’m glad Bus is looking out for me. His previous experience in trying to screw the Denver Broncos could pay dividends.”

+1 TJ.... lol!!!
the Broncos should impliment an organization policy that all players represented by Bus Cook, will be given 1 week to find a new agent, or be traded to the Raiders.

Sounds like Bus has given you this talk before. hahaha

McG, do you think they'll let me sit at the big kids table, too?
#$#$! it, Dude, let’s go bowling.
McG, you’re still in my heart, man. Nothing you can say will change that. You had me at, “McDaniels is an idiot.”

TJ made a statement of belief (and did it in a humorous way) that Scheffler made his statement after Cook told him to. Judging by the number of rec’s, many of us agreed that this is likely what happened.

We went through this with J-man. We don’t write for this site. We just react.
I say praise bus cook
He played up cutler to mythical impressions for which the broncos received a bounty for. Rumor was we couldn’t get a 5th for scheff last year. If cook could be a doll and get a fourth for him I would be most appreciative.
I'm glad we had this talk.

Scheffler is complaining to teammates after the Philadelphia game about not being used enough, when he had several pass attempts in the game. Then after he is benched, he tries to stir things up even more. I was on the fence about Scheffler before I saw this quote, now I’m glad he’s benched.
So the real question is this....
which of his concerned teammates told McDaniels about his complaining? It had to get to the coach somehow… so his complaining must have been pretty loud. Just sayin…

I get the feeling this is the problem.
There is a whole bunch of ME talk it seems when it comes to the players of the Denver Broncos.
This would definitely explain the inability for them to get over the hump when playing good TEAMS.
I actually don't think that play-offs are the main agenda of this team.
Right now, it has to be extirpating all the “bad seeds” on this team, or trying to get them to buy into the system. I agree with McDaniel’s decision to bench these two 100%.
And if this doesn’t make you feel any better, we still have Moreno to throw the ball to.

worth noting the rest of the article:

“To be honest, I haven’t even heard from Josh,” Scheffler said.

sounds like sheff is trying to rally troops to his side
misery loves company and it sounds like sheff wants some. Maybe this will draw out the me first players that haven’t bought into the regime yet and McD will see who they are so that he can clean house next year. I am glad they are benched. I love them both on a talent level but support the coach on this. A house divided against itself cannot stand… or win football games.
Bowlen went through ALOT getting rid of the Shan-man,
might as well get rid of all the players that “HIS” coach thinks so little of and get this over with. We’re gunna see what kind of “groceries” (“Parcells”) our young head coach can bring in to his system. I really hope he knows what he’s doing.
dawkins, goodman, hill
those three have been high points this season and it gives me faith for the future… not to mention bringing in nolan (who shanny didn’t want) and nunnely (sp?)
What about Graham.
If there was ever a Shanahan guy, it’d be Graham and his well above market contract. The same Graham that has struggled at times this year. The same Graham that NE, when McD was O coordinator, didn’t want? Why doesn’t the Great McDaniels Pogrom extend to him…or Wiegmann…D.J. Williams…Elvis Dumervile…Marcuas Thomas…my fingers are getting tired….

Wiegmann threated to retire if he didn’t get a new deal. He got one and pulled a little bit of a Gerrard Warren. Team 1st all the way with him.
Wiegmann
had every right to retire if he wanted to, especially at his age. And I think he gives 100% every play – even though he isn’t the best center in the league.

Sure… He’s been a real hog for us this year. I expected that fresh off this 2008 Pro Bowl appearance.
Are you saying
that you don’t think Wiegmann gives 100% effort all the time?
War is behavior with its roots in the primal sea - eat whatever you touch, or it will eat you. John Fowles
Dude, he's 36 years old.
I have a theory about his crummy performance that, amazingly, has nothing to do with the new coaching regime. True story.
The O-line is the season’s single biggest disappointment. Using two blocking schemes that don’t fit the players… Please, by all means, please don’t criticize the coaching for our O-line troubles. When guys like Clady regress, it’s clearly 100% on the players. I get it. And Weigmann was 35 last season. Not a spring chicken on his way to the Pro Bowl.
Do careers end at 36. I didn’t know that.
Lots or reasons for the O line problems
Broncos were 6-0 until Harris went out, for one. Polumbus isn’t half as good. I think Hamilton and Wiegmann did wear down some. And yes, I too think McD made a big mistake by shifting from zone to power blocking without the right personnel for it. But I don’t know if that was a mistake.
War is behavior with its roots in the primal sea - eat whatever you touch, or it will eat you. John Fowles
I came to these comments whilst hopping about through the thread so for a minute I wasn’t sure of the context (serious vs. context) … guess I should read everything in order. But anyway, I completely agree with your assertion (I think?) that the O-line is in big trouble right now, and that it seems mainly to be a bad mix of scheme, players, and coaching. All three are culpable when it doesn’t come together as designed. Would have been brilliant had it worked, but it didn’t so it’s clearly [the opposite of brilliant].

Effort is the best place to find malingerers, and malingerers can speak to coaching revolt. There isn’t a coaching revolt problem on this team, but rather personnel problems.

absolutely
I mean, even if Schef has a point, and even if we can understand how he feels, you don’t cry to the media about a choice your coach is making that the coach believes is good for the team.
I mean, it’s so short-sighted. Schef knows ahead of time that he is being called out as having an attitude that goes against the team. He knows that he’s being painted that way, BEFORE he opens his mouth. And he responds by commenting to the press in a way that tries to cause even more division, confirming what McDaniels is saying.

McD and Xanders never do business with a Bus Cook client again. This dude is garbage as an agent. All his big name clients have a history of being malcontents and generally aren’t very good people. The best thing McX could do, in my opinion, is avoid this cancer at all costs.

Love the adult-land comment. I completely agree here. It seems our “professional” athletes have a very skewed vision of reality.
A point of perspective here: I’m 29, and in the last two years have seen my role “transitioned” elsewhere 3 times. I guess that’s the wonderful world of accounting and finance. Here’s the point though, each time I didn’t pout or complain. The result is a pretty hefty promotion and professional (and personal) growth.

This is
A Bus Cook Op, all the way. It’s no coincidence that Cook spoke up yesterday, and then this comes out. This is how the Bus rolls, and I’d bet that McX have had more than enough of it.
Scheffler you’re OUTTA here pal, and you’ll be taking scumbag Cook and his team-destroying games with ya.
According to Broncos sources, the problems with Marshall and Scheffler came after team leaders including Brian Dawkins, Champ Bailey, Kyle Orton, DJ Williams and Daniel Graham all met with McDaniels on Monday and encouraged him to take a hardline approach in preparing the team to finish the season against the Chiefs.
That development, combined with a home loss to the Raiders, compelled McDaniels to emphasize the need for accountability in a full team meeting Wednesday. It was later that day when Marshall complained about his hamstring.
Scheffler was presumably demoted to the scout team after he was overheard telling teammates that he couldn’t wait for Denver’s season to end.
The latest showdown between the head coach and the Pro Bowl receiver actually began the week before when Marshall excused himself from practice, complaining the cold weather was making it difficult for him to breathe.
Yeah this is definitely McDaniels fault … /roll eyes
