Josh McDaniels and Tom Brandstater

Does Josh make Tom #2 is the question. Did TB get enough coaching in 2009 or was all that time spent on KO due to the fact that the coach was new and the system was new.

If the answer is no then the Broncos need to prepare a plan for a veteran for 2010. A 2010 pick is unreasonable.

NFL draft boards only have two 2010 QB’s rated high, Clausen and Bradford. Neither will fall to #10/11 and trading up is ridiculous considering the positions that need filled. A 2011 pick like Ryan (love that name) Mallett of Arkansas or Jake Locker of Washington may be the answer?

NOW if the answer is yes then the fan base starts to smile again.

NFL overview: Tom Brandstater is a big (6’5” 225lbs), strong (25 225’s) quarterback. He's a good football player who has good speed (4.85 40) and athleticism for his size. Brandstater possesses the range and arm strength that National Football League teams look for in a pro style quarterback. His intelligence on the field is evident, but academically it is even more impressive, having graduated before his junior campaign and is finishing up work on his Master's degree.

He already has his Masters

He finished it last year. This article is a pretty good analysis – it also shows the progression from year to year. It might not mention that he had 4 OCs in 4 years at Fresno State, but that’s also true, and certainly slowed his progress. If Orton learned more in 4 months from McD than he did in 4 years in Chicago, I’m pretty sure that McD will be teaching TB all that he can learn.

Throwing out another crazy idea...

I think TB looks like agreat prospect for our future, but I’m not sure if he is ready to be the #2 yet. We need a veteran to back up KO in case of injury. I haven’t seen this name mentioned anywhere yet, but what would be your thoughts on Marc Bulger. he has a ton of starting experience. will probably be cut, so no compensation would be required. I know he has been beat up recently, but Denver has a much better( or will have) O-Line. What do you think ?

Interesting thought as a backup

I have to admit – the Rams have been so bad for so long that I don’t even know what offensive and defensive schemes they run. It makes it hard to estimate him as a backup, but I don’t’ see him starting anywhere soon. That might not be his fault, either – look at the team. Still – QBs and HCs get the credit and the blame.. In the Ram’s case, it reminds me of the Indian Chief who drew his tribe together to speak to them.

He looked at them solemly. “I have good new,” he told them, "and I have bad news. The bad news is, there’s nothing left to eat but buffalo chips. And, the good news is – there’s lots. "

I think that’s the Rams in short.

lol

that reminds me even more of jon gruden’s quarterback philosophy…

but if they bring in a vet then TB goes to #3 with little to no reps just like 2009 and gets no experience.
IMO this will get them nowhere.

TommyTSlice..

have you been watching the Senior Bowl work outs? Tebow is the worst QB there. He can not take a snap from center, never did in Florida in four years.
Mechanics are really bad, one pro scout figures 3 years to teach him.
IMO, no to Tebow

Ready or not, Tom Brandstater is a better option than Simms (IMO, of course)

I’d like to see him take over the backup spot so that he can develop further. Nevermind us, the team and the coaches themselves can never really know what he is truly capable of until he gets more attention and reps during the season.

Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

IMO TB is better prepared for the NFL than anyone coming out.

Brandstater is a better option at #2 than Simms,

but last I checked Simms is still with the Broncos, and until he ins’t will probably be listed as the #2 QB agree or not. If he stays I believe Brandstater gets the opportunity to play for the #2 spot in camp, and if he wins out then Simms will be gone…Just my opinion.

I completely agree with you.

I think I’d rather have Air Bud out there as our number 2 than Simms. He’d be able to avoid the rush a little better and his ball security would be second to none.

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.
Why has nobody made a live-action game of Chutes and Ladders? I'd be first in line.

LOL,

maybe we sign Air Bud and his moves to replace Jordan then…….

I'm cool with that. I bet his 40 time is half of Jordan's, too.
