What have we learned?
Over the past season, we have learned a lot about the Denver Broncos and the NFL. If you have tuned into MHR during the entire time, you probably know all of this, already. So, let's have a review session. What have we learned?
We have learned that Pat Bowlen isn't afraid to pull the trigger and change coaches when there is no sign of improvement. Sorry Shanny.
We have learned that Champ looks like a much better player when he isn't the only guy on defense who wants to make the tackle.
We have learned that Brian Dawkins is the best leader that money can buy and age is just a number.
We have learned why Eagles fans were so upset that Dawkins left Philadelphia.
We have learned who Renaldo Hill and Andre Goodman are. They are darn good football players.
We have learned that just because you went to the pro bowl, doesn't make you the end-all-be-all of an organization.
We have learned that Kyle Orton has flimsy ankles but even if he was blindfolded and handcuffed, he'd still be a better quarterback than Chris Simms.
We have learned that DJ Williams has great tackling numbers, but still takes bad angles that allow large gains on running plays.
We have learned that Josh McDaniels picks cooler hoodies than Bill Belicheck.
We have learned that a fist pump from Josh McDaniels could easily knock out Mike Tyson. (My opinion, anyways)
We have learned that Jabar Gaffney is a great receiver, when made a 1st or 2nd receiving option.
We have learned that David Bruton is the most special player on special teams.
We have learned that Peyton Hillis has twice the fanbase, but half the skill of Spencer Larson. (oh yeah, I went there)
We have learned that Eddie Royal has to work on press coverage, this offseason.
We have learned that Andra Davis isn't your typical Cleveland Brown. You know......terrible.
We have learned that life is so much less stressful when Marquan Manuel and Calvin Lowry aren't your starting safeties.
We have learned that Brandon Stokely is master of the tip drill, but shouldn't swing his arms in frustration when close to a referee.
We have learned that our interior offensive line is aging and needs to be fixed.
We have learned that Mike Nolan prefers sun and beaches over high altitude and orange sunsets.
We have learned that Elvis Dumervil is much better off as an OLB in a 3-4 than a DE in a 4-3.
We have learned that Brandon Marshall is a great player but probably won't be in Denver next season.
We have learned that Shanahan in Washington could become Denver East after this offseason.
We have learned that Daniel Graham is a great mix of blocking and catching.
We have learned that Chris Simms shouldn't be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
We have learned that Tom Brandstater looks great throwing the ball in the preseason.
We have learned that Robert Ayers has one of the best suplex tackles in the NFL. Intimidated yet, Philip Rivers?
We have learned that third and shorts are anything but guaranteed first downs.
We have learned that WR screens are agonizing when they are unsuccessful.
We have learned that Knowshon Moreno has an amazing spin move.
We have learned that, when healthy, Correll Buckhalter is a very good runningback. If only he could stay healthy.
We have learned that stopping the run is priority number 1.
We have learned that Mitch Berger is the king of punting inside the 20 yard line.
We have learned that Mitch Berger is the king of punting less than 20 yards.
We have learned that Matt Prater is still a great kicker down the stretch when he doesn't overwork himself. Why should a kicker "overwork himself" anyways?
We have learned that Ryan Clady is human and is capable of giving up a sack (even though they are few and far between).
We have learned that your big toe is a very important part of your body.
We have learned that some things never change (SD choking in the playoffs) (Al Davis taking the fastest player in the draft instead of the more talented player) (the Chiefs being irrelevant until December).
We have learned that the best Broncos game is the next one.
We have learned that the best way to trash talk an opponent is by writing underhanded limericks.
We have learned that Cutlerception is extremely fun to scream 26 times a year, knowing that each Cutlerception gets you one step closer to a top ten draft pick.
We have learned that sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other Chicago... I mean side.
We have learned that there is no end to football season because Draftivus is on the way.
We have learned that mock drafts before the playoffs begin are cool.
We have learned a multitude of ways to use "Pees".
We have learned the origin of "this".
We have learned that MSM < MHR.
So, what else have we learned from the past season? From my own recall, I am bound to have left out some things. Let's talk it out.
This is a Fan-Created Comment on MileHighReport.com. The opinion here is not necessarily shared by the editorial staff of MHR

Very nice KB and so true
Here are my two favorite ones:
We have learned that Josh McDaniels picks cooler hoodies than Bill Belicheck.
I am still waiting for that throwback one to be available online (the one in the Pats game).
We have learned that MSM < MHR.
Here are some of my own:
1. We learned that we need to be better against the AFC West.
2. We learned that a .500 rebuilding team is better than a 2-14 or 3-13 rebuilding team
2009 NBA Champions L.A Lakers
2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant
Those are good ones.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.
Why has nobody made a live-action game of Chutes and Ladders? I'd be first in line.

Well, he did have quite a game with the absence of Brandon Marshall.
54 receptions for 732 yards and 2 TDs isn’t a bad year, especially when you have a 101 reception guy on the other side and you are splitting the number 2 role with Eddie Royal. Catching for 213 yards in week 17 is no small task, either.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I like him dont get me wrong
But he did do most of his damage against a terrible Chiefs team.
I would be very scared if we went into next year with him, Royal and Stokley as our recievers.

That would mean that Kenny McKinley wouldn't suit up
I like what I’ve seen of him – I look for him to do well for us. After watching a lot of NE film, I came to the conclusion that Gaffney was a much better receiver than folks knew. I still think so. And, Brandon Lloyd may also be circus catching for us (and perhaps even not cringing on catches over the middle?). All of which is before the draft or FA…

Throwback Hoodie
is long gone… I marked that in the paper Bronco Store catalog and gave it to my wife last Aug. She waited until Nov to try and buy it. She checked online & called Dove Valley as well, no joy. I ended up with a plaid sweater vest from Macy’s :-(

Correll Buckhalter can shed 25 lbs. and have a career year on 2 surgically repaired knees, AND look faster than a rookie.

I think this one is debatable...
We have learned that Elvis Dumervil is much better off as an OLB in a 3-4 than a DE in a 4-3.
He did have a dozen sacks two years ago as a 43 DE.
"All by their heads, he places crowns."
Matt Prater, pre-2009 season: Despised, lambasted, Josh McDaniels is derided for not replacing him.
Matt Prater, post-2009 season: Loved, praised, everone forgets the time when they called Josh McDaniels an idiot for not replacing him.

true, but his upside is higher as OLB
Keep in mind he did all this in his first year at the position.

Nice post..
We have learned that respect is not given it is earned, and that if you are not respected you have to TAKE IT…. TAKE IT…. TAAAKE IIIIT…
Unfortunetly we have also learned that if you stupidly decide to give it back then you have LOST IT.. LOST IT…… :-(
We have also learned that none of us can acurately predict who we will draft, ever!
We have learned the real names of the wonderful staff here at MHR!
We have learned to be more realistic in our expectations for next year… …. … nope didn’t learn that one quite yet.. 13-3 here we come!
Lastly, I have learned that i get to see my first friggin live broncos game in London this year.. and for that i am truely thankful!
Yes, we most certainly learned to TAKE IT!!!!!!

would like to get to the bottom of this Hillis thing. I just don’t understand the change. THey guys runs hard. He is a fan favorite because he brought back the Mile High Salute (the classiest TD celebration in history). He just powered through guys last season. He catches well. I REALLY wish I knew the reasons he didn’t get more touches this season. I know he dropped the ball a couple of times at the beginning of the season.
