Im tired of a coach playing god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a joke, todays game was just that. Thanks McD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He doesnt want players to win, he wants players to kiss his rings. What a joke. Bench Sceff, that was a good idea, he would of caught all the passes the ex-patriot dropped. He is going to run Bmarsh out of town, OUR BEAST player. If I was Doom i would go also. Its going to be a while before we get a chance to play in the playoffs with god coatching. I tried my hardest to give McGod a chance, but he has done enough damage to OUr team!!!!!!!!!! I will always be a die hard BRONCO fan, but this kid is screwing everything up.

Name calling the coach (in a bad way) is generally avoided by MHR
It has already been posted that the Team Captains wanted McD to make the players accountable. That is what coach tried to do. If you want, I can locate the specific post if you are interested.

I'm a little confused at this post.
Are you trying to make a point about McD or is this a post about how bad your grammar is?

Sources: Marshall late for therapy
I don’t know if this is story true or not, but if it is, Brandon Marshall is responsible for his own benching and his teammates had finally grown tired of his antics.

Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels decided to bench wide receiver Brandon Marshall for the regular-season finale after he was late to a scheduled therapy session with the Denver medical staff for treatment of a hamstring injury the team already believed he was exaggerating, according to multiple team sources.
Both Marshall and tight end Tony Scheffler have been advised they will not be permitted on the sideline or in the locker room when the Broncos play the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday in a game with playoff implications. It is the team’s policy not to allow inactive players on the sideline or in the locker room.

The Broncos sent Marshall for an MRI on his hamstring after he complained of the injury during Wednesday’s practice. According to team sources, the test indicated that Marshall’s hamstring was healthy.
The latest showdown between the head coach and the Pro Bowl receiver actually began the week before when Marshall excused himself from practice, complaining the cold weather was making it difficult for him to breathe.
Then, as the team reviewed tape of its loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, in which Marshall dropped several passes, McDaniels mentioned that certain plays had to be made. Marshall apparently felt he was being unfairly singled out for criticism.
According to Broncos sources, the problems with Marshall and Scheffler came after team leaders including Brian Dawkins, Champ Bailey, Kyle Orton, D.J. Williams and Daniel Graham all met with McDaniels on Monday and encouraged him to take a hardline approach in preparing the team to finish the season against the Chiefs.
That development, combined with a home loss to the Raiders, compelled McDaniels to emphasize the need for accountability in a full team meeting Wednesday. It was later that day when Marshall complained about his hamstring.
Scheffler was presumably demoted to the scout team after he was overheard telling teammates that he couldn’t wait for Denver’s season to end.
The Broncos do not think it’s a coincidence that Marshall became a distraction almost immediately after achieving several personal goals, including having another 100-catch season and making the Pro Bowl. McDaniels has been implementing a team-first mentality similar to that he experienced while part of Bill Belichick’s staff with the three-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
It’s possible Marshall has played his last game with the Broncos, sources close to the situation told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Marshall is scheduled to be a free agent this offseason, and will be a restricted free agent if next season is uncapped, as is expected.
In an uncapped year, the Broncos would be expected to tender Marshall at the highest level possible - one worth a first and third-round draft choice. If another team signed Marshall to an offer sheet, Denver would have seven days to match it. If Denver opted not to match the offer — and the Broncos have shown little inclination of signing him to a long-term deal - then Marshall would become the other teams’ property and Denver would get back first and third-round draft choices.
Because Marshall would be a free agent, Denver could not trade Marshall without his signing an offer sheet with another team.

Thanks for adding the team leader information to the comments

Oh wait, I understand this post now.
You’re tired of the head coach making head coach type decisions because you don’t like them.
Got it.

you're right,
8-8 would have been much better with Shanny running the team and Bob Slowik running our dead last ranked defense and players who quit at the end of games instead of staying in it. Sheesh, some people are never satisfied.
Jerry 251 over the top but ...
Did the players who talked to the coach about accountability have Marshall and Scheffler in mind? Did the suspensions by the coach McDaniel make the team more or less motivated or more or less accountable today? Were there as many teammates that might have been offended by the suspensions?
There is much we don’t and can’t know but let me advance some hypotheses. First, after 6 wins, the dropping of our punter Kern sent a message, that the team and comraderie the players had built up really didn’t matter. One of them was summarily fired? It was about the coach’s view of business. That decision did not work out on the field and it may have had an impact on team chemistry.
Second, whatever teammates may think of Marshall, both he and many of them realize that at the end of the day this is a business. It IS for the owner, management and coaches. The business for players is getting a payday and if a player perceives he can’t play because of injury or doesn’t want to risk his payday, that is their interest. After all this is a society that lives by and celebrates self-interest. Why should the Denver Broncos be any different?
The “team comes first” mentality is seen differently by fans, those of us who risk nothing but want to win and have a near mythical view of the “team”; by coaches and owners, who want to win whether or it leaves their players physically scared for life or costs them big payday; and by players who really do put it on the line whenever they step on the field. The fact that McDaniels questioned Marshall’s commitment publicly probably rubbed some teammates the wrong way. We should not assume 53 + 8 players all see anything the same way especially the issue of pain and injury at the end of a season.
Today’s performance said a lot about this team from a performance and from a team chemistry perspective. However one pours the cool-aid, losing 8 of 10 to end the season says that we were what we feared we were at the start of the season and not what those 6 wins seduced us to imagine we might be.
There is much I’ve come to admire about McDaniels. But the Broncos fan base has become as divided as the the U.S. as a whole. That is sad. On this site, there is a kind of collective authoritarian personality operating. If it comes from the authority, the coach, it must be right. To put it in labor-management terms, it is interesting how predominantly management-oriented this site is. That is strange, because most of us are probably employees who have to deal with non-rational and stupid authority on a day-to-day basis. Outside of this site, many can barely hide their hatred of McDaniels. He is flawed but he still may lead us to the Superbowl although it may take a lot longer than we were hoping for.

Problem is:
I spent some time in the military, so my view of teamwork is different than most. What I do know is this: a team will fail if the person in charge takes a backseat to the people he is in charge of. I’ve seen it happen many times, and when bullets are flying no less. I’ve been in the same situation as McD too. I was a Sgt in charge of a crew deployed to Iraq. We had a couple people who thought they knew best, and would complain to the others and generally cause rifts. Well, I had them sent home. Our team functioned 100% better, and personal relationships with everybody in the team improved.
It’s hard to understand team chemistry if you’ve never really been involved in one. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, I just know that I haven’t been a part of a real team in my life except in the military. Civilian jobs are nothing close.
But....
in a similar team setting, I’ve learned again and again that a team will fail if the person in charge puts his interests ahead of those in his command. not saying that’s McD, just a general response to your point.
When I think of a leader, I immediatly think of Dick Winters as depicted in Band of Brothers. To this day, the men under his command in WWII obviously revere the man, as evidenced in books and interviews.

I think McD is doing things right.
“According to Broncos sources, the problems with Marshall and Scheffler came after team leaders including Brian Dawkins, Champ Bailey, Kyle Orton, D.J. Williams and Daniel Graham all met with McDaniels on Monday and encouraged him to take a hardline approach in preparing the team to finish the season against the Chiefs.”
That’s all I need to know. If guys like that were fed up with Marshall and Scheff, and they have bought into what is going on in Denver, than I am behind it 100%.
"Some guys got drafted and they ain't played football in 15 years and I'm still waiting to get drafted. I'm still waiting to hear my name." -Rod Smith
I understand your frustration
I was wondering about the Marshall decision to. However, I understand
that Marshall contended he was too hurt to start. So the decision by McD was
just to not suit him up for back up use.
I also feel angry and frustrated by Orton’s pathetic interceptions, and the total lack
of run defense.
I think McD was trying to do what Belichick did to Randy Moss to motivate the team.
I am watching the Jets wax the Bengals, and the Ravens already clinched. The Broncos
already blew the playoffs during the Raider game, so today’s loss is academic.
I will probably enjoy watching some good teams in the playoffs, and not wannabees like
the Broncos, Texans, and the Steelers.
He probably was hurt
And it shows what kind of a “leader” he is. Here’s a couple other leaders to compare. Big Ben-played with a separated shoulder and lead his team to a win. Tom Brady-played with 3 broken ribs in a game that wasn’t massively important.
If I’m on a team when one of our best players won’t play the biggest game of the season because he tweaked a hamstring, I would lose all respect for that “leader”.
This is like the secret servise taking a bullet for the president
It sounds all good and noble and you have to do it, but in the end you’re going to get hurt, or killed. That’s how I view the McD vs B-marsh & Scheff. He did the right thing, but if we lose both these guys, our offense is almost dead. Orton throws short……. Marsh creates after the catch. Now what…….. 3 picks that’s what.
KINGS WILL BE 09-10 CHAMPIONS
Orton throws short...
strange because I didn’t see a whole lot of dump off plays today. In fact, I think he spread it out quite a bit without Marshall there.

We could have went 15-1
and lost in the Super Bowl and people would wanted to fire McD, draft Bradford, trade Champ, release Marshall, don’t sign Doom, cut Stokely, get rid of DJ, demote Moreno, see what you can get for Royal, cut the entire D-line, etc.
Have some perspective. I know this loss hurts, but don’t be irrational.

Ummm....
Certainly the author of this post is being a bit irrational but for you to say 15-1 would inspire many to call for the firing of all of those people is every bit as irrational….I’m guessing the author is exaggerating to make a point much like I am guessing that you are exaggerating to make a point. I don’t blame anybody for feeling angry and venting right now. How can any fan not be upset with this once again monumental collapse?

Yes I was exaggerating. I too don’t blame people for wanting to vent. Yet the doomsday approach doesn’t appeal to me. I love this sight because it’s not like a blog where it’s random rants.
I don’t think mcdaniel is the only one at fault.
This loss will only be a tip of the iceberg of vents if the marshall situation gets worse.
I for one will stay positive because my ties are to the Broncos. Not a single player or coach or front office member.

Agreed...
McD is not the only one at fault…but he sure is protected on this site, much to my chagrin. I believe he was the right coach for us when we selected him and I am not giving up on him yet. However, he gets too much protection on this site. He is a 33 year old first time coach and he made mistakes like I would expect from a 33 year old first time coach. It is ok to call him out for those and not pretend that the fault is with the players only. He too needs to learn and evolve. To do this, he needs to look in the mirror and truly evaluate himself and not be stubborn. I think he will. I’m not dooms day either, but I am not convinced we are heading in the right direction. I don’t see enough improvement when considering the whole team (not just a unit or parts of a unit) to say we are heading in the right direction…but we are heading in a new direction and I hope it is the right direction.
But I’ll be clear, I am loyal to the Broncos. Many here say it is Bowlen’s team and McD need only be concerned with Bowlen. I disagree. This is my team more than Bowlen. I have loved this team before Bowlen was the owner and I will love this team long after Bowlen is not the owner. The fans like me own this team. I know that is a bit over the top, but that is the way I feel.
"this kid is ruining everything"
they were 24-24 the last three years….they were 8-8 this year…what has been ruined? If anything the worst you could say is it’s been more of the same. For something to be ruined it must be built first. So if the 24-24 teams we’re what you’re afraid of ruining you should check again and be happy because 8-8 is right up your alley.
Not to mention
Bowlen would be quite pleased with his coach “Playing God” He’d save a bundle in concession costs. McD could turn 1 hotdog into 1000 and water into beer. Think of the savings Jerry the savings.
Sheesh
A rookie coach, new DC, OC, GM and a ton of new players on defense and a bunch on offense. New schemes and attitude to boot. Yet few sees the changes for the good.
Tell me, complainers and haters, how good of a record do you HONESTLY think this team would have had with the schedule the team played? How many blowouts like last season do you see happening under those conditions? Think we would have beaten Dallas, NE and SD in SD? Think the defense would have kicked ass with Jarvis Moss, Engelberger and Tim Crowder on the DL and Winborn and Webster at LB? How about Marquand Manuel, Vernon Fox and Dre Bly starting at DB spots? Just think of how many yards our RB’s would get with Tatum Bell, Selvin Young and Hillis at RB. WOW! I see it now, Super Bowl bound, yes, Super Bowl Bound!!!!!LMAO.
