Knowshon Moreno, Spencer Larsen Out Sunday Against Ravens
The Broncos running game will continue to be short-handed this week with RBs Knowshon Moreno and Spencer Larsen being ruled out of Sunday's game in Baltimore. Josh McDaniels made the announcement this morning.
Will this be the time we see what Andre Brown can do?

Why did they activate Brown in favor of Ball?
I liked what I saw with Ball in the pre-season. I don’t know what Brown can do.
Agreed
Ball has some speed behind him, and looked good coming out of the backfield.

Brown is better than Ball
trust me. I just want the team to trust him and themselves for signing him and give him a chance.

Have you read the comments
on facebook when the Denver Broncos posted this? I have never seen fans like that its insane
You can tune a piano but you cant tune a fish
I am dumbfounded on those myself.
I will sometimes see comments by someone who can at least see the whole picture. It just enforces why this site is just THAT GOOD.

I had to “get rid” of several friends on Facebook, “un-like” Denver Post Sports, and refuse to read any more comments on updates from the Denver Broncos. People with no knowledge of the game, the Broncos, or reality for that matter. This is the place to be…MHR all the way.
"What can Brown do for us"
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll ever see Andre Brown in the game on Sunday. He is new to McD’s system and I don’t think the couch will trust Brown enough at this point to give him actual reps.
I think it’ll be the same as last week. Slo-mo for 1st and 2nd downs and Buck in for 3rd….
One more Maroney fumble or dropped pass and I bet we are closer to Brown time than you think.
Josh McDaniel's Broncos are 10 - 10. He holds a .500 winning percentage. Updated weekly.
I wouldn't be surprised at all.
Especially since he seemed to get yanked halfway through last week (still got some carries but they were drastically diminished).

The Couch
New nickname for McDaniels? Cause that’s where he’s not afraid to put your butt if you screw up on the field.
Did they activate Brown last week and just not use him? I never heard what happened.
I agree with the sentiment that LoMo better start making progress + no mistakes or it could very well be time to see what Brown can do. If nothing changes in the running game or if it gets worse (CAN it even get worse!….), why not?

yeah he is activated
He was inactive week 1, went through the whole switcheroo thingie, came back and was activated week 3 (with #29 instead of #26), and was active again last week.
He probably isn’t ready for blitz pickup and was activated in case either Maroney or Buck got hurt in the game. McD said there is a lot to the scheme and Brown is at a disadvantage with no trainingcamp to help him get on the same page with the offense. I think we will see him only if Maroney or Buck get hurt or do something awful (like multiple turnovers or something).

Thanks for the info, bro.
Well I hope Buck can stay healthy but I have this nagging feeling that with all of the miles he has on his body combined with his injury history…..I’ll be surprised if he makes it through the season without an injury. So I bet we’ll see what Brown can do sooner than probably most would want.
….that is, until we package Champ in a trade for Peyton Hillis. Voila! Running game problem solved. LOL! J/K!

I am a huge Buck fan
but history says that when (if) a running back hits the wall of his career, he hits it hard. Buck has low mileage, but two major reconstructions, so it is hard to say how close or far he is from that wall… but yeah, it is a nagging feeling…

Orton had 11 yards on 3 carries.
Our running backs had 17 carries for 8 total yards last week. Less than half a yard per carry. I literally don’t think it can get any worse.
The good news is McD should be less tempted to run this week.
Could we perhaps throw on 85% of our plays? We threw on 74% of our plays last week. I’d like to see that pass to run ratio be at least 10% points higher this week. Maybe 15%.
Josh McDaniel's Broncos are 10 - 10. He holds a .500 winning percentage. Updated weekly.
Yes it probably is with guys like Daniels on the line. But if we threw it 74% of the plays last week, is 85% really all that much different.

Even Clady is playing poorly
I realize he’s coming off an injury, but he’s getting beat a lot. Link

Agreed, screens don't work against a fast DL like Indy
But we saw success with screens against Tennessee.

I have to agree....max protect and dissect their secondary.
Hopefully Brown has learned more on the blocking end of things, but we need to be prepared to just say NO to the run.

Even if Brown isn't that great we should give him a shot
Guys like that with limited opportunities tend to play hard and fight and claw for every inch trying to make an impression. They DON’T dance around in the backfield.
I read somewhere that last Sunday our RB’s had 17" per carry. That’s hilarious (only because we won)
Not unless he can pick up the blitz....don't want to get KO killed ;)

dont be to be a downer its just really tough to see the broncos come away with a W. They cant run the ball at all period. Playing @ Baltimore u have to be mistake free pretty much to win this game. Need to score in the red zone need at least 21 points. But hey theres nothing more in the world id love then to get proven wrong
Go Broncos
"ITS PARTAAY TIME BAABY"
Hopefully our D is better than the browns.....
That is the only game that the ravens scored over 20. The other games were 10, 10, 17. I think that is do-able.
Brown has the speed and size combined to be a good surprise challenge for the Ravens
I really want to see them give him a shot on Sunday. Maroney and Buckhalter are not going to get much done vs the Ravens.
i do miss KnoMo, hope he’s back for the Jets game!

Brown
will make an appearance at one time and once he makes a play, Maroney will be picking splinters out of his rear end on the bench

Also
Buck isn’t dead weight, (he did score the winning touchdown!) but I want to see more out of him in the running game.

I like Buck
He seems like he’s getting back to last seasons form, he’s making some good catches and working for YAC. Of the backs we have who can catch, he’s the best.

better than Knowshon?

Did I say better?
Nah, but he’s equal or about the same. Last season he was actually better in the pass, and despite missing time caught more passes and had more receiving yards then Moreno. I’m excited for Moreno’s return, but Buck’s pretty good at catching the ball, minus a bad week in Seattle.

You are right
And I looked it up, Buck is our best running back who can catch, better then Moreno. He did more in less time and with less snaps last season and this season catching the ball.

This is like the stock market to me.
When everyone has finally bailed, that is the time that I’m buying. It was certainly a good strategy for me in life. So I for one, think we will run the ball well enough to keep the Ravens off balance. Men can only be criticized and thrown under the bus for so long before they dig in their heels and say enough is enough.

Sounds Good
running on the Ravens would be a noteworthy accomplishment but I believe Denver and Baltimore will be among the AFC’s elite once the dust settles. Now’s a good time for us to show it!

In one of his press conferences McD was asked about Brown getting a chance to make the run game better
and McD responded that putting Brown in would imply that only one person was responsible for the crappy run game. He has a great point. Moreno could get it done, Buck can’t get it done and Maroney for sure can’t get it done. Why will Brown be able to? McD knows that the line is playing crappy in the run game and he knows a single player isn’t going to fix it.
I for one say that since he knows that why not put him in and see if he has any talent in the pass game. Of course it will be a bad and unfair evaluation of his running abilities if the line doesn’t get it together quick.
Moreno couldn't get it done actually
He average 2.9 YPC, which is better then Buck or Maroney, but isn’t “getting it done” by any means. Unless it was a typo, then my mistake. I say Buck should be starting over Maroney because he is a better blocker and is much better in the passing game. As for Brown, I wouldn’t mind he stepping in for Maroney, a wasted trade, but to eliminate our “best” back in Buck isn’t a good idea.
I am a bear of very little brains and big words bother me.
I feel Moreno could get it done with a good line
hes crafty, speedy, elusive and seems to know how to go down getting the most yardage.
He’ll always try to fight buckle his way out of a tackle, like a wild bronco. Thats what I like

Yea, we say that last season
But we also say Buck do the same thing. We are allowed to have two solid backs on the team. This season neither Moreno or Buck is playing well behind that line.

Sorry, didn't mean to misunderstand you
My bad. Darn no “edit” feature.

Would love to see Brown get some carries
Maroney is Lamont Jordan, except with dreads, guy lacks any burst or vision, and has limited pass catching ability.

Seriously bummed about this one.
We need to be prepared to just play a max protect scheme, and rely on our WR’s to get open. I really don’t want to see any more -5 yard runs.
If Brown has learned enough in blitz pickup, then go ahead and see what he has….but against the Ravens D, I wouldn’t want to just throw him out there if he doesn’t have KO’s backside covered.
KO can continue his great play, and put the Ravens secondary in their place, if he has enough time to work!
