DJ's Last Tweet
before (Ed: might be right after - unclear...) he was nabbed for DUI. It reads:
Sad, but honest truth, I'll never be able to give it up
Draw your own conclusions.
(For contrast, check out a tweet from the same time by former practice squadder Braxton Kelley, who was also at the Nuggets game)

Just saw that too
I don’t want to make assumptions, but if that was about alcohol and partying then we need a new MLB and a new captain
Who is Braxton Kelly? He isn’t on our team…right?

According to Denver Broncos website:
Jeff Byers, Britt Davis, John Nalbone, Eron Riley, Lee Robinson, Jeff Stehle, and Mitch Unrain are our practice squadders.

Braxton is a former UDFA
LB from University of Kentucky, like Wesley Woodyard. He graduated a year later, though.
He was on and off the PS last year, but was waived/injured in camp this year. According to this he was then moved to IR after he cleared waivers.
I actually hope we hear more from him…. looks like we could use some LB help. :-/
Hm interesting
Denver’s website only showed Doom, White, and Willis as the only IR people, but whatevs. We can certainly use the depth. Especially if DJ is gone after this year.

Actually
I am wondering if that site is just dumb. Not sure an injured/waived player can be IR’ed. Kirk might be the only one around here who would know that.
His Twitter page is still all Bronc’ed up, and it I am guessing his Nuggs game visit came with other players… so it makes me think he is hoping to catch on again.
Get him out
8 games, and he’s done as a Bronco.

Well according to the tweet someone made to him after that one, he apparently is talking about alcohol.
Sad, but honest truth, I’ll never be able to give it up
Spoken like a true alcoholic.
It will be interesting to see if he really is with the team next year. It could go either way. Will McD adhere to the “solid citizen” mantra and trade him off? Or will he keep DJ knowing that although a solid LB – though not a superstar – he can’t keep letting talented players go?

If you go back in his timeline to after the London game
DJ tweets about partying in London and then some fans tweeted at them they thought he shouldn’t be out partying and trying to win games. DJ got real defensive.
@DjWilliam55: My 1st party in ever in the UK, I’m out here like the American Werwolf in London!
@DjWilliam55: Anyone that has a prob wit my going out needs not 2 I give my all ecerysunday, im allowed to do wht I want wot my free time
I agree, he can do what he wants with his free time. I just present this as further evidence that DJ likes to party.
who tweets that??
like seriously??

someone who has an alcohol issue...
question is…what does the team do about it…Do they keep him on with restrictions? Didn’t the Texas Rangers have the same issue with Josh Hamilton? They didn’t throw him out on his butt did they? I understand it is his 2nd time, but I’m curious if there were any changes to his contract after the first one to hold him more accountable. He needs help.
"They are who we thought they were!"
Good Point
I suppose a lot of it depends on how that meeting with Coach went today. If he seems willing to seek help, I sure hope they support him in it.
Josh Hamilton’s situation is/was really quite different. He couldn’t even get to the field when he was the Rays. By the time Hamilton got to the Rangers and became a star, he had a real handle on his substance abuse issues and had been clean for several years.
DJ, on the other hand, seems to be pretty functional – he is playing at a very high level out there this year. But clearly his drinking is causing him some problems, and he and the team are going to have to deal with that.
Right?!
That’s what I thought. Who DOES that? But then again, he’d been drinking.
I think drunk Tweeting is the new drunk dialing, and the implications are way worse. You are calling the whole world, not just your old flame! Sheesh. :-/
Tweeting for professional atheletes.
In this day and age, with instantaneous access to information, tweeting by professional atheletes could possibly be the dumbest thing they can do. They are already under the microscopes of the media…this just invites more attention and intrusiveness.
