McNicknames

I'm here to call for a little sanity in the midst of the in (-sanity). Anger, frustration, bitter disappointment and otherwise are all understandable, given the current state of the franchise. Like many have stated here, I've been a fan since 1977 when, as a seven-year old, I walked in to a friends' family's Orange Crush party, was instantly hooked and never looked back.

When the Broncos and Elway finally got over the hump, I have no problem admitting I cried. It was incredible. The only problem was it took what were regularly high expectations for the team and sent them into the stratosphere. That, I think, leads to at least some of the frustration the fanbase (myself included) feels today. We expect the Broncos to win. 8-8 is a bad year for us (with my sister as a Raiders fan, let me tell you, she knows bad seasons).

As a fan who, as of 2000, had never lived in Denver, regular information about the Broncos was one thing I always craved. When the Denver Post became available online, it was incredible! To get the "inside" scoop was amazing. Then started the boards, where I figured I would be able to monologue back and forth with other passionate Broncos fans -- only, as many of you have seen, that turned to crap with name-calling and negative diatribes.

Then came MHR -- an unabashed Bronco fansite. I loved even more when the mods came on and said this is our team, win or lose -- so cut it with the McDaniels nicknames (among other positive ground rules). Which is where I'm at now. I'm not happy with the latest allegations and certainly frustrated with the 3-7 record this year. But this is not the Denver Post. I'm asking the mods to please put a muzzle on or ban those who can't behave with a little more homerism. That's what I want from this site -- it's not supposed to be unbiased. It's supposed to be for fans -- and the type of fans I want around here are ultra-quick, reactionary, knee jerk "fire Mc(gradeschool taunt)" any time the wind blows. It's just taken what's good and unique out of this site. And for those who don't like it, there are plenty of other places to go and gripe. Where else is there for fans who want a little more patience and less of the other overtly available stuff?

Difficult as this may sound, please know I don't point this request  personally toward anyone. I'm just sad to see a site that I enjoy be filled with this much negativity.
