The Denver Broncos on Monday signed wide receiver Britt Davis from their practice squad and placed safety Kyle McCarthy on injured reserve, it was announced.
Davis (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) is a first-year player who joined the Broncos during training camp and spent the first 14 weeks of the season on Denver’s practice squad. He began his career with the New York Jets after originally signing with the club as a college free agent from Northern Illinois University.
He finished ranked fifth on the NIU all-time charts with 146 receptions and totaled 1,676 receiving yards and nine touchdowns during his four-year career with the Huskies.
A two-time All-State selection at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Broadview, Ill., Davis was born on April 23, 1986.
McCarthy, a rookie college free agent from the University of Notre Dame, played eight games (0 starts) this season and made two tackles along with two stops on special teams.

Help me understand.....
We need defensive help not WR. Lose a safety why not bring up a DB like Polk?
Or WHY NOT Stehl or Unrein?
Heck even TE Nalbone may show needed talent.
Talent evaluation moves?
I agree
dumbfounded by this move. Maybe they want to get a look like I’ve heard before in situations like this, but it’s doubtful he’s going to beat out the other WRs. Also, so they want to sign a guy to the active roster that likely doesn’t have a chance, but they don’t want to take a look at a 1st round QB already on the roster to see what he has? I don’t get it!
I am guessing ST player only

I just watched Studesville's presser. I had an X Large glass of orange/blue Koolaid by my side....
Either the Koolaid is diluted, or Im just getting burned out? Will I watch this week and next week and the week after….YES! Because Im a fan, I’ll put myself thru this and have done so for many years. However, I don’t ever remember a time in those years where I actually felt like just throwing in the towel. Watching Eric Studesville today, It’s clear he’s more lost than I am. Yeah, some great opportunity Eric? You really believe you’re a candidate for the HC job? Or have you just failed to accept your the scapegoat to appease the Rooney Rule? That’s just sad! Shouldve kept Josh thru end of year. Ok, my personal pity party is now over. Back to our regularly scheduled posting! :)

My ship finally came in, but it was the Kobayashi Maru.
Just wanted to comment while we are talking ST
- Veikune looked good and Decker looked like a real kick returner.
My projections Denver 11-5, San Diego 10-6, Oakland 9-7, Kansas City 7-9
Revised after 9 games. Denver 8-8, San Diego 8-8, Oakland 8-8, Kansas City 8-8
I agree. Decker should move up the depth chart next year ahead of Gafney.
We have such a great luxury at WR. Loyd, Thomas, Royal, Decker, Gafney, and lest we forget Willis on IR. Nice problem to have. Too bad we don’t have that problem at DL and Linebacker.

WR depth is set for next year
I agree, rubencarterrocks! Why wouldn’t we take this opportunity to scavenge the practice squads of the top teams (or all teams for that matter) to find some DT’s or LB’s or DB’s (especially safeties) that we can stash for training camp next year. Adding a WR that would be nothing more than a Practice Squad player next year does nothing for us in the long term.
Along those lines, why isn’t the medical staff more agressive on the walking wounded? I want everyone who is hurt to be put on injured reserve so we can start evaluating talent for next year with our roster slots.
