Just don't get the haters...

I rarely get angry at sports. It is, if you think about it, a very silly thing to conjure up an emotion like anger. But listening to a lot of day after "reviews" on Tim Tebow I actually got angry. There is some huge double standard when it comes to Tim and I have never seen a person that so many people seem to truly want to fail. It is driving me bonkers. Tim came in a played admirably, especially when he obviously wasn't given leeway to do anything. Even Brandon Lloyd came to Tebow's defense after the game (most receiver's don't speak ill of a QB but he could of just not said anything)

"That loss had nothing to do with Tim Tebow throwing or anything with the ball. I had confidence in him going into the game that he was going to be able to lead us to victory, and that was a coach's decision to do that (running) with the ball. Even when it was tough out there, he kept us in the game." - Brandon Lloyd

"It's that Tebow factor. He showed that whatever he has to do, he'll do it. He really kept his composure and played real well with what they let him do." - Jabar Gaffney

Not to mention what even Raider's were saying about him.

Yet today, I get to hear on various radio shows how he's not ready at all. He can't throw. He doesn't have enough "other stuff" for his intangibles to matter. These EXACT same people were talking how the Cardinals might have found something in John Skelton after he went (see below) AT HOME:

ATT    COM   PER     YRD TD INT Y/A     RA RY TD
15      37       40.5% 146   0   0      3.90   3    9     0

So I guess I am confused. If the Cardinals "may have found something" in John Skelton after doing nothing and beating a terrible Broncos team how was Tebow's VERY FIRST START not that great against a decent Oakland team (in playoff contention) that sports the 7th rated passing defense. Nothing against the Fordham rookie but come on now. It was a real game for the first half and Tebow got NO HELP from anyone other than Brandon Lloyd. The line was bad as usual and the running game came in at a whopping 1.1 avg with Lance Ball. Hell, he should of had at least 2 TD tosses. That throw to Lance was PERFECT. Exactly where it had to be and he dropped it. Let's not even start on the defense. Except they allowed two 70+ yard plays. It's cool though... I suppose all the "experts" are right. He can't play. Waste of a pick. Might as well send him packing to Miami. (!!!)

I know people are critical but sh*t let's give him a chance either way. I was truly impressed with how he played while basically handcuffed. I can't wait to see if they let Tim loose. I am not saying he will be the GOAT, or even one the GOATS, or even average. All I am saying is people are real quick to judge him poorly on a good first start for no reason, while saying other rooks look good with no substance. People shouldn't be quick to judge in EITHER direction but at least give the kid some credit. He passed the eye test, and made the game fun. I felt like the Broncos had a chance, and they did for a while.

Just for fun I've thrown down the stats of a few greats first time starts. Good thing Elway and Manning weren't hung out to dry right after they just became pro.
