Mock Draft

Not much to say, except, Denver is now officially not going to be in the playoffs this year (once again). I guess it's time to move on...

I don't want to make any trades of players, because with four games left, anything can happen, so I will just make trades within the draft.

1st Round:

- Trade down to #9 spot for 2nd Round pick; trade down to #13 spot for 2nd Round pick.

- Stephen Paea DT Oregon State 6-1 312

I like Paea's size for a 3-4 DE. The dude has tremendous strength (44 reps of 225 on the bench press).

2nd Round:

- D.J. Williams TE Arkansas 6-2 251

One of the best TE in college football; I think he could make a big impact on offense. He could be a good target for Tebow if he starts next year.

2nd Round (from Miami):

- Davon House CB New Mexico State 6-0 184 4.46-40

Very fast corner. I think he could be a good nickel CB until Champ or Andre leave. He could add instant speed to our defense.

2nd Round:

- Trade for 4th & 5th.

2nd Round:

- Kenrick Ellis DT Hampton 6-5 340

Ellis has a big frame and could be good in a rotation (kind of like what SD has with Cam Thomas). He would be our NT of the future.

3rd Round:

Danny Watkins OT Baylor 6-4 310

This guy is the "anchor" of Baylor's offensive line (according to cbssports.com) and I think he would fit in well with former teammate, J.D. Walton. He would either back RT Ryan Harris up or would start if Denver trades Harris.

4th Round:

Rashad Carmichael CB Virginia Tech 5-10 186 4.38-40

From what I have read about Carmichael, he is just what McDaniels and co. are looking for (assuming he is still the HC up to this point):

Overview

A fearless competitor who really elevated his game last season … Just keeps working and working … Understands his position and what offenses are doing … Fast and aggressive … Opened the 2009 season as the starting field corner … Was moved to the boundary spot for the Marshall game and remained there until playing the field spot in the bowl game … Led the team in interceptions with six and was named honorable mention on the All-ACC team … Voted the team's top defensive back … Was honored for putting the team first during spring workouts … Will be looked to for leadership.

5th Round:

- Derrick Locke RB Kentucky 5-9 190 4.36-40

Who needs Darren Sproles. This guy can return kicks and is fast. His size will allow him to get leverage and will make him extremely tough to tackle.

6th Round:

- Brooks Reed OLB Arizona 6-3 262

Reed's hair reminds me of Clay Matthews, so there is one check. He would back up Dumervil or Ayers but could possibly make his way up. Reed would make sure that nothing like this year happens again (the number of LBs we lost this year is similar to the number of RBs we lost in 2008...that was dreadful).

7th Round:

- Chris Conte FS California 6-3 212

Conte would be a back-up to either McBath or Bruton if Dawkins and Hill leave. If Dawkins and Hill do stay, he could be a practice squad player, but you never know.

To recap:

1. Stephen Paea DT Oregon State 6-1 312

2. D.J. Williams TE Arkansas 6-2 251

2. Davon House CB New Mexico State 6-0 184 4.46-40

2. Kenrick Ellis DT Hampton 6-5 340

3. Danny Watkins OT Baylor 6-4 310

4. Rashad Carmichael CB Virginia Tech 5-10 186 4.38-40

5. Derrick Locke RB Kentucky 5-9 190 4.36-40

6. Brooks Reed OLB Arizona 6-3 262

7. Chris Conte FS California 6-3 212
