Horse Tracks - 2/16/10; Darrell Reid had knee surgery, could miss Training Camp
Good Morning Broncos Country! A light news days, especially regarding the Broncos. One piece of news that did come out yesterday was the knee injury, and surgery, to Broncos LB Darrell Reid. Reid had initially injured the knee against the Steelers, keeping it quiet until after the Broncos lost to the Colts. Reid played through the injury, however, waiting until the off-season to get the injury fixed. According to Reid, recovery time is 6-8 months. Ouch.

What Goodell’s contract extension means | National Football Post
Over the next year in the NFL, there will be a lot of discussion about contracts. There will be player contracts to discuss, dissect, analyze and declare to be good or bad for the player or team. And there will be the most important contract of all, the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the contract that NFL owners opted out of two years before its original expiration date. It now needs to be renegotiated between the NFL and its most important (and expensive) partner, the NFL Players Association. We, of course, will be analyzing all issues of that contract negotiation, starting with this week’s Webinar.

The San Francisco 49ers will place the tag on defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin if they cannot work out a longterm contract with him between now and the deadline to play tag – Feb. 25. That is the report of ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who notes that Franklin could be just one of a couple players at the position who are tagged. He reports that soon you could add New England’s Vince Wilfork and/or Pittsburgh’s Casey Hampton to that list.

Bears fire pro personnel director DePaul, who pulled off Cutler deal
Hired out of the Philadelphia Eagles' front office in June 2001, DePaul helped build the Bears team which won three division titles and the 2006 NFC championship. He played a big role in the trade that brought quarterback Jay Cutler from the Denver Broncos and sent optimism soaring in Chicago entering this past season. However, the Bears stumbled to a 7-9 record while missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year.

Thanks for the tracks John!
Let’s see 6 – 8 months…. Even if it’s eight, that should be alright, just in time for regular season…. I’m not sure how crucial OTA’s and Training Camp are to a bad a$$ like Darrell, I hope he can jump right back into the swing of things.
Always appreciate MHR and those who contribute! Thanks again Mr. Bena
First team to three consecutive SB wins!!!! and then some, right? I think four and someone else oughtta have a 'fair' shot ( =

Thanks John
Just hope Reid doesn’t push too hard to get back. Trying to come back too fast can lead to other injuries.
Man, that's a tough blow.
6 to 8 months? If we are looking at closer to 8 months, that’s not just training camp, that’s getting into september which is when the season starts. I sure hope he gets on the fast track to recovery. In the meantime, we might be looking at more OLB depth this offseason. Add another position to the growing list of team needs….
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Thanks John.
How come people keep getting fired after cutler arrives? He is widely respected too. Seems like their problems start at the organizational level and trickle down.
Shame to hear Reid will take some time. I hope for a full recovery. He’s a human wrecking ball

This is exactly why McDaniels will probably draft a OLB/DE.
Darrell played well last season and his services would be missed, especially on STs
that hit against Philly was awesome!
I can’t remember being so excited to watch special teams as I was last year when both Larsen and Reid were both running downfield. I’d have to scream at my tv, zoom out I want to see Newton’s third law in full scale.

Seems like teams are not bitting off their "NOSE" despite themselves...
Recognizing that Nose Tackles don’t actually grow on trees teams like the 49ers, Steelers and New England will probably set the price high for them. You really can’t blame them now could we?
