I was once "Three Rings He Probably Knows Something" but I changed my email and forgot my PW, so now I'm BroadwayBronco. :) I've been quiet for a while now, just watching the season unfold, waving the trolls goodbye for six weeks, nodding to them again as they appeared, shrank, grew, reshrank, and then erupted as the season ended. I've just got a few thoughts, thought I'd put them down on paper. (Although, really, I don't know what I'm putting them down on. I mean, I know it's the internet, but what's tangible here that I can put something down on at all? "I just wanted to put some thoughts down on a server that's sitting in a box full of servers in some warehouse in Nebraska" just doesn't have the same ring to it.)
Most here(from what I have perceived) are either expecting or hoping for a BMarsh trade. Not only do I not want this, but I honestly don't think it's going to happen. I think the media has turned the entire situation from a molehill into a mountain. I am the naive type, so I'm taking Brandon's words with a little less salt than most, and I'm really not so positive we're going to get the kind of offers we're expecting for him. I just pray that BMarsh doesn't buy into the media hype, because he can do great things here and might not somewhere else(kinda like that last big name we traded, I can't remember his name but I think he was a body builder).
Hillis might not be gone, we don't know, but Scheff certainly has to go. Whether you love him or not(and he is skilled) we simply can't have that type of attitude in the locker room. This was year one of an arduous learning experience for our offense, and it's possible that not everyone could get involved fully because the playbook hasn't completely opened up. Next year might have used his skill set more, but we'll most likely never know, because when you openly piss and moan about the company you work for, you usually don't work for that company very long. And even if most the of team didn't listen or care, all it takes is one special teams guy overhearing his remark, thinking "yeah, I guess he's right," and then missing a tackle because he's not 100% committed anymore. So I say fare thee well Scheffler, I hope every team you play for makes the playoffs every year so you won't be waiting for the season to end. (That's a lie. I kind of hope he gets traded to the Rams.)
As far as Mc(Zomgwhatfunnynamecanithinkoftoputhere?)Daniels is concerned, I'm still on the bandwagon. In two more years, I might take off my seat belt. But this stuff takes time. It seems like some expected him to win Super Bowls right out of the chute like other greats, such as Cowher and Holmgren and Dungy and Belichick and...wait a second. They all made the conference championships their first year, right? Super Bowl in three? Well, the Browns fired Belichick before he could really get rolling, but that's because he was a BeliDoofus!!! Right guys? BeliDOOFUS! BWA HA HA HA. Oh man, that is so funny...
But seriously, let's have some patience. Just like trolls feed off fish guts and the tears of children, great teams feed off patience and great leadership. And that's Josh's numero uno, he surrounds himself with it. And in two more years, if we still aren't a playoff team then some of you can gladly say you told me so, but whatever happens, just keep in mind: At least we're not the Raiders!!
