Star-divide

1.    As a team representative, you will be required to submit to me (via e-mail) an ordered target list for your team at least 48 hours prior to the start of the mock draft.  Any lists received after said time will not be binding and may not be used.  The lists should cover all of your draft picks throughout the stated length of the mock drafting session.

2.    If a team’s representative is not available to make a selection in the allotted time AND they did not submit an ordered target list or said list is no longer applicable, I will then make the pick for them by simply selecting the best player available from a CBS Sports NFL Draft Scout's overall rankings.  At my discretion, however, I may deviate slightly from the strict definition of BPA in order to accommodate for need; that said, I will guarantee that all picks will be made in a timely fashion.

3.    When commenting in the mock draft post, please DO NOT use the "subject" line in the comments for anything other than to announce an official pick.  Limiting the usage of said space will make the picks, as well as the announcements that I will make, stand out and therefore make the draft itself easier to follow.

4.    When I announce that THE [LOCATION] [TEAM NAME] ARE NOW ON THE CLOCK, the respective representative(s) will have five minutes to make the pick.  Once the selection is recorded, I will then move things along by making the pertinent announcement; that process will continue until we conclude the mock drafting session, with possible breaks therein to gather our collective bearings if necessary.

5.    When you make an official pick, you will announce it in the exact format that follows: WITH THE [X] PICK IN THE DRAFT, THE [LOCATION] [TEAM NAME] SELECT: [PLAYER NAME], [POSITION], [SCHOOL].  Once again, you will do so in the "subject" line of the comment box and you will leave the message space blank.  You or others may feel free and are, in fact, encouraged to comment on a pick by replying to that official announcement so long as you observe the general rules of conduct that govern this site when doing so.

6.    As soon as possible after a selection is made, you are to e-mail a brief explanation of sorts to me.  I suggest that you write them as though you are an actual member of your chosen team’s management being asked about the pick in an interview, but you may do so in whatever way you wish so long as it gets done.  Since I will compile all of these and post them alongside the respective picks, I ask that you keep them short.

The rules for this mock are still up for discussion, so if you feel that they can be improved, please do share your thoughts below.  By the way, I will be providing examples for some of the procedural ones in the comments below, just to clarify how they work in practice before we get to the main event.  Thanks again to everyone involved and I look forward to working with you all in what should be a fun endeavor.  I also encourage the rest of our community to chime in freely throughout the process.  Cheers and go Broncos!

for representing the Washington Redskins. I’ve already sent you an email relating to their needs. Let me know if you need additional clarification. Oh, and I must’ve missed what time this is set for??

Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

I’m thinking of noon for the start time, but that’s not set in stone.

Ach! I picked for the Browns last year...uhg.

I thought I requested the Seahawks man. :P lol

j/k of course

I’m going to pick Tim Tebow just to mess up Sayre’s mock…better yet, I’ll pick McClain just to screw up everyone else’s mock. lol

Wait, John really dislikes the Browns…so maybe I’ll draft Sam Bradford, so he’ll have to listen to everyone gloat over in Cleveland about their new great QB just like they did when they picked Brady Quinn.

Fun Times In Cleveland Again!

You did eventually ask for the Seahawks, but it worked out better for the mock if I gave Seattle to someone else and revert you back to “anyone” as you so generously volunteered in the first place! ;) I happen to think that Cleveland could be a fun team to rep, because they could go all sorts of different directions…

Trading back

As Mike Shanahan for the week – and knowing that my team only has five picks throught the entire draft – I am interested in trading back from the #4 pick. If anybody is looking to draft a Sam Bradford, Haden, perhaps even Berry is still available, please contact me in private (email) so that we can set up a trade scenario.

I’m thinking something like this: Nothing will be locked until you see whether your player is there on draft day, at which time we would would both need to openly agree to the trade (see below). But time will be of the essence, while a pick is under the gun, so we should have the terms worked out prior to draft day (substantially using the “Trade Value Chart”).

Agreement would be considered binding by both parties after I use the subject line to state that "Washington Redskins trade the fourth overall pick to ________, for their _ overall pick, and their ________ overall pick. At which point, the receiving party would use the subject line to make their pick. Perhaps a one minute clock extension?

What say you, ejruiz? Will this setup work for you? Should we submit tennative trades to you 24 hours before draft for approval? Do you think it’s doable, or too complicated?

Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

Don't know yet

I was trying to lay out an idea for ejuiz to approve. I hope so. I’d like to trade back, else I’m taking somebody’s dreams away, like Bradford or Berry =)

Trades.

I would like to incorporate trades into the live mocks at some point down the line, but there will be no trading allowed in this one. I do like your thinking for when we do allow trades, though! If everything works out nicely on Sunday, then we may allow for some degree of trading when the next one comes around!

Forget that, just call Jay Cutler.

Wasn’t he one of the people who had a say in choosing offensive coordinators? Maybe by the time the draft comes, he’ll be in the war room making all the draft decisions, as well.

So, what you should do is call Jay Cutler and ask who he would draft in the third round. There you go. Done. You have the easiest job ever. lol. The toughest part will be finding his number in the phone book……….

Trades

I agree on having trades, nothing too outlandish like the Sticky Ricky trade. Pats have a boatload of potential trade scenarios going on since they just tagged Wilfork plus 3 2nd rounders. Sundays are good for me as well since it’s my only off day

I think it’s fun in theory, but we would probably end up pulling some heavy shananigan’s and ending up with some ridiculous trades.

Sorry...

No trades this time around, but if everything goes well, they may be included on some level in future ones. These things have a tendancy of getting out of hand and I wouldn’t want to bite off more than we can chew right off the bat.

Does anyone know who the best WR available is?

NOTE that there is nothing posted in the “message” area of official comments and the “subject” is left blank for conversational ones! That makes the draft itself easier to keep track of, while allowing for a robust discussion parallel to it…

TARGET LISTS

I’ve gotten a few submissions for the required target lists already and there seems to be some confussion that I’d like to address. First of all, there are no wrong answers! You may provide a list of positions of need, specific targets, seperate groups of targets for each round or any other such thing that may inform my picking for your team in the event that you are unavailable to do so yourself. Ideally, you’d give me a list of prospects long enough to ensure that I have a name from you at every pick to use regardless of the preceding circumstances, but that’s not really plausible, so just do what you can. Remember, if you do not submit a list or it no longer applies at the time of your automated pick, I will make it myself using a mix of my understanding of the team’s needs and the BPA on the CBS list at that spot. I hope this helps…

Jags reporting ready and able

Rather than sending you a list of the positons I’ll be targetting the Jags suck so much I think its probably best to send you a list of the positions that aren’t a need:
1. Running back
that is all.

Careful… you don’t to make such info public!

And I thought I never won anything

Rest easy Broncos fans my pick will make you proud. As a loyal Boise State Broncos fan I will ignore team needs and draft my favorite player in the draft,CB Kyle Wilson and ignore G Mike Iupati from the hated Idaho Vandals(j/k).

Denver deperately needs some interior line help on both sides of the ball, especially a center with the release of Weigmann,a playmaking WR, a stud linebacker and a backup corner because Bailey,Goodman and Law( if the Broncos resign him) arent getting younger and Im not completely sold on Alphonso Smith.
Without naming any names here is how I see the first three rounds unfolding for the Broncos
1.LB/WR
2.Center/Guard
3.CB
I dont see the Broncos taking a QB this year.Orton was effective running the offense for the majority of the season last year and I think with Orton still being young they give him one more year to show what he has and maybe open up the playbook for him now that he has a year under his belt.
BTW I do not think it is a good idea to trade Brandon Marshall. There is a reason that his nickname is the freak and players like that just don come around very often.Marshall has a way of taking over games and I feel that he is an above average blocker(when he doesnt commit holding penalties). The man has issues, but what great receiver in todays game doesnt?

Careful with what info you put out there prior to draft!

DL

Defensie line is another area of concern and just drives homw the point with so many areas of concern that Denver shouldnt use a high draft pick on a QB

probably going to have to drop

I’m assigned to the Saints but it looks like I’ll have to drop. Issues in real life have been eating up my time (also why I didn’t see this thread until just now) and those problems will probably keep me from being able to do this, especially since the Saints aren’t my primary team and I would have to do a bit of research to feel comfortable making their pick.

So sorry guys, but I’m out
