Do These Guys Really Measure Up?

In todays NFL with bigger faster defensive linemen the quarterback position is a position of height and weight to go along with all of the other fundamentals. Some of these prospects have been hyped-up with more than their on field abilities. Just maybe to give the illusion of one's grandeur. Not only don't some of these guys measure up, but a few have opted out of the passing drills and this could send up the red flag of competency.

The weigh-in for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers has finished at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Measureables for these skill positions are very important because coaches and scouts want to know if a receiver is tall enough, or a quarterback has enough bulk on his frame to take a pounding when getting sacked by NFL lineman, or if a running back is solid rock and can take the punishment of running the ball 20-plus times each game.

Bradford shocked many with the 236 pounds since his playing weight was closer to 225 pounds.

He carried the weight well and it was reported that the added weight was all muscle and no fat.

Clausen came in at exactly the same playing weight he was at in 2009, but his official height was actually one-half inch shorter then previously reported.

McCoy's height is almost a full inch shorter than originally thought and this could hurt his draft stock, but he did pack on six more pounds to his frame.

His height may now be an issue with McCoy.

Snead is four pounds heavier than his normal playing weight, but it suits his height much better.

Tebow's playing weight was a much heavier 245 pounds and he has indeed tightened up his body and become leaner, which still should not be a knock against him at all.

The only one that measures up to Mcdaniels' liking (6'4-6'5) is Sam Bradford. There are taller quarterbacks in the draft that are projected to go in the latter rounds and they will have a chance to showcase their talents in front of the world. Maybe some of them will jump passed some of these mentioned. I think it's a big mistake for quarterbacks to try and hide flaws, it's almost impossible with the keen eye...
