Rules
1. When commenting in this post, please DO NOT use the "subject" line for anything other than to announce official picks. Limiting the use of that space will make the picks - and my announcement - stand out and therefore make the draft itself easier to follow.
2. Representatives were asked to submit to me (via e-mail) an ordered target list for their respective teams at least 48 hours prior to the start of this mock draft. Any lists received after that time may still be used, but will not be binding.
3. If a team's representative is not available to make a selection and they either did not submit an ordered target list or said list is no longer applicable, I will then make the pick for them by simply selecting the best player available from NFL Draft Scout’s overall prospect rankings. At my discretion, however, I may deviate slightly from strictly selecting BPA in order to accommodate for need; that said, I guarantee that all picks will be made in a timely fashion.
4. When I announce that THE [LOCATION] [TEAM NAME] ARE NOW ON THE CLOCK, the respective representative will have five minutes to make their pick. Once the selection is recorded, I will then move things along by making the pertinent announcement; that process will continue until we conclude the mock drafting session, with possible breaks therein only if necessary.
5. When an official pick is made, it will be announced in the exact format that follows: WITH THE [X] PICK IN THE DRAFT, THE [LOCATION] [TEAM NAME] SELECT: [PLAYER NAME], [POSITION], [SCHOOL]. Once again, this will be done in the "subject" line of the comment box and the message space will be left blank. Comments on a pick should be made by replying to that official announcement, so long as you observe the general rules of conduct that govern this site when doing so.
6. As soon as possible after making a selection, team representatives are required to e-mail a brief explanation of sorts to me. I suggest that it is writen in the first person as an actual member of your chosen team’s management being asked about the pick in an interview. Since I will compile these and post them alongside the respective picks, I ask that they be kept short.
7. If the volume of comments in this post negatively affects our ability to use it, then I will publish an updated fresh one. If that becomes necessary, I will announce the decision when I begin working on the new one and when it is posted.

Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

They’ve been drafting top-five for like a century. They got the flashy RB, TE, QB, LT. Not sure what they need but a coach to start putting the lesser pieces together.
Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

Seriously, they had some bad drafts leading up to 2008, but they have been making solid choices since. Promoting Devaney to GM really helped.

Washington’s current roster contains no true & secure starters for the O’ Line, with the exception of Derrick Dockery, who, at 326lbs, is probably too big to work out long term in the ZB scheme. Veteran OC Casey Rabach is likely walking as an UFA.
I’m operating under the assumption that Mike Shanahan will bring over both Hamilton and Weigmann to start in the middle, leaving Dockery at the other guard position, and bringing in a new high-round bookend on both sides of the line.
Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!
Also not so sure how often he selected linemen this early (other than Clady) much less with his first two picks. Though, defense is clearly a strength of the Skins.
by Sayre Bedinger on Feb 28, 2010 1:04 PM MST up reply actions
yes indeed but Ducasse is not an ideal zone blocker. He does not have the speed or athleticism to get to the next level. Horrible pick, sorry elvis
"Vegetarians are cool. All I eat are vegetarians - except for the occasional mountain lion steak "
Ted Nugent
That’s at least partly true. Should’ve picked Jahvid Best. I didn’t realize how big Ducasse was. I was busy and just grabbed the highest ranked OT. I’m sure he’ll still do fine. Should get quite a run block, all 330lbs
Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

I’m starting to just hope Tebow gets drafted so I don’t have to see his name all the time in comments.
Bronco Learning Curve
"I don’t want to lose any time... I don’t want the team thinking I’m a money-first guy. I’m here to play football and to win. Money is secondary." Robert Ayers
"I’m still around .... I might just do it for my own well-being. I don’t get no bonuses for it, I’m just doing it because this is what I do." Doom
"He can throw a fastball, he can throw a touch ball, he throws an awesome deep ball" Brandon Lloyd on K.O.
but does great combine numbers lead to a great career? Do college wins lead to NFL greatness too? I though Vince Young got alot of hype when alot of people said the same sort of things about his college career and abilities as an athete. Its nothing against him personally, but the hype is over the top

Yeah, you are right. However, the Bills need a QB (along with about 50 other things), so they might as well pull the trigger on the best college QB, ever.

Ouch, an F?
Well, for the Bills, I think it makes sense. They have a serious need at the QB position, Edwards isn’t the answer at QB and Brian Brohm was a wasted pick (as a U of L student, I’ve seen him play and he isn’t an NFL QB).
My motivation for this pick was based on value, really. I was torn between OT and QB. At this point in the draft, I didn’t feel that any OTs were left that I would want to pick here, so QB was next. I value Tebow over McCoy for the Bills, so I went Tebow.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

1/27/10: One player who really shined at Senior Bowl Monday practice was Devin McCourty. Details available in the 2010 Senior Bowl section.
1/9/10: A member of the All-Big East First Team, thanks to 80 tackles, 7.5 TFL and 10 passes broken up. McCourty also averaged 25.4 yards on kickoff returns, scoring a touchdown in the process.
3/7/09: Broke up seven passes and notched 57 tackles as a junior. Also blocked a kick, the fourth of his collegiate career.
8/5/08: Will get some consideration as a special-teamer. He blocked three kicks in 2007. Devin McCourty also had seven pass break-ups and two interceptions.

In my defense
Just got home from church and didnt get the players I wanted.I targeted McClain with Bryant in the first round and would settle for Iupati though I agree that 11 was too high for him,but overall I am happy with the pick.If that scenario unfolds such as that I see the Broncos trading down, and if Iupati is not available after the trade down, they can get an interior defensive lineman.
As for the Pike pick,I was sure that Pouncey would still be available and I had Kyle Wilson as a backup pick.I did have Pike as my number one third round pick assuming that McCoy,Claussen,Bradford had already been drafted. But I am not unhappy with the pick.It gives McDaniels a project to stake his career on,much like Shanny did with Cutler
by Charlie Kirkpatrick on Feb 28, 2010 2:24 PM MST reply actions
Pouncey will not be available when we pick, probably no matter what. Even if he got out of the first, EJ would have probably picked him for someone with the NFLDS reference list.

Well, since Raheem Brock is partially worthless and there’s no depth behind Freeney and Mathis, plus with Freeney’s injury concerns I think a first-round talent, albeit with durability issues, is a good pickup.
i don’t think he is worthless at all. But for the most part I agree with your assesment and do like the pick where it is at. Just saying i don’t know who else was available but I saw you took Brown so i love that.

I did my homework :)
And as far as who was available at this pick, Corey Woolton was taken 4 picks before mine, I was hoping he would fall. Hardy is a beast and very similar to Freeney, so it would be nice.
I was surprised when Brown fell to my spot, so I snatched him up!
Curious, with Brown at LT, where would you move Charlie Johnson? To Right Tackle and then let Diem replace De Van at RG?
yes we would move CJ to RT. then Diem and Devan could fight it out for RG.
