Stedtfeld's Broncos Mock Draft 12.0

Brandon Marshall. Does he really want to stay, or is he just saying the right things to keep his value high? I really am starting to wonder what to do with the guy. If he is being truthful, and he can just keep quiet and just play football I am all for keeping him. But, it is hard to believe a guy who has repetitively said he's fine, then turned around and did something stupid. If McDaniels just thinks he's not changed, that he is just saying things to keep his value up, then trade the man. I realize how good of a player he is, but I think we can survive without him. In this mock, I will keep him, just to try it out.

Another thing, let me explain what mock drafts (mine at least) really are at this point in the reloading season. They are not really meant or expected to be accurate, just interesting and entertaining. We simply don't know enough to make a mock that we actually think could happen. One of the biggest for us is: Will Marshall be with the Denver Broncos in 2010? Also, no one knows what is going to happen in free agency, or even if the CBA deal will be reached. What if the Broncos end up getting a great center they like, in either FA or through a trade? What if McDaniels sees McKinley as a good deep threat? We have no idea what is going to happen or what players McD likes/dislikes. Maybe McDaniels and Xanders see McClain as a major bust, or maybe they see Dez Bryant as the next Jerry Rice, or maybe they see Jimmy Clausen as the next Joe Montana, so want to trade up...You just never know. Mock drafts are purely for fun at this point. Once free agency is over and we know who will be in Denver and who won't, I'll make a mock I actually hope to be accurate.

With the 23rd pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Mike Pouncey, C, Florida

This is the perfect pick for Denver. They need to get a center, and here they get one that could play for them for the next decade or more. Pouncey is by far the best center in the draft, and he could possibly play some guard if need be.

With the 45th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Wide receiver Jordan Shipley #8 of the Texas Longhorns scores a 60-yard touchdown against the Rice Owls on a flea-flicker in the second quarter on September 20, 2007 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.

Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas

I like this pick whether Marshall is here or not. Shipley is a very talented receiver. He is pretty fast, runs crisp routes, and has great hands.

With the 56th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Dan LeFevour, QB, Central Michigan

I've never had a QB in a mock (this early, at least), but LeFevour could be very good with McDaniels. He has great size at 6'3" 238 lbs. He is very accurate, and with McDaniels' help, I think he could be a great QB.

With the 80th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Jon Asamoah, OG, Illinois

Asamoah is a good guard to get if we can't get Iupati. We absolutely NEED to get at least one pretty good guard this offseason.

With the 84th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

LeGarrette Blount, RB, Oregon

Blount is a very talented running back, although he did make a mistake. I think he can stay away from those kind of incidents. He would be an awesome compliment to Moreno and Buck. He's such a tough, strong runner that would look good in orange and blue.

4th Round, Pick A

Alterraun Verner, CB, UCLA

Verner just seems like he could make an impact in the NFL after being taught by Champ for a year or so.

4th Round, Pick B

Micah Johnson, ILB, Kentucky

Micah is probably my favorite alternative to McClain, relative to where he'll be taken.

5th Round

Arthur Moats, OLB, James Madison

Great pass rusher who could be something like Dumervil. He could come in on plays where we want a great pass rush, with Doom and him.

6th Round

Kurt Coleman, FS, Ohio State

I honestly don't think we need a safety, as I like who we have now. But Coleman is a good player and could join Bruton as the future at our strong safety position.

7th Round

Dennis Landolt, OT, Penn State

Depth at offensive tackle. The interior line is of much more importance, but some depth at OT would be a good idea as well.
