If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Great interview...
Thanks man!

That was informative.
Two irrelevant observations:
Xanders sounds like he’s nervous, or he took speaking lessons from the George W. Bush school of Rhetoric and Public Speaking.
Why is the last wisp of Bronco mane in Comcast’s Bronco logo lacking the orange? The rest of the mane is orange… Did the graphic designer get up for a twinkie and forget to finish coloring?

I like what he said about approaching the interview process
from the issues angle. It sounds like it’s working, too. Out of 19 players, 4 or 5 may not be a good fit. That means they are doing good research, interviewing the right guys with 80 percent accuracy. That suggests they are not wasting these interviews, since they only have 60 out of 330. If they get a good read on 45 guys that they would like, that’s a good, deep pool from which to draft, right?

Question
Does anyone have a list of players Denver interviewed?

IDK
I searched but couldn’t find it. I think that would be a greater telltale sign as to what Denver would do than the gazillion mock drafts.

He is not a very good speaker
he was obviously nervous

and now i think we know exactly why McDaniels takes the heat for everything. Because he is a much better speaker and they probably have both decided that because of that he should be the team’s voice

I find McDaniels' speaking style rambling, loquacious, and purposefully vague.
But, I guess that purposefully vague part is just coachspeak.

I was surprised about that
I guess as long as he does his job and gets the players that will help us in 2010, I won’t worry too much about his public speaking. However, he is probably the first GM or anybody high up on an organization that sounded nervous when being interviewed.

I could care less
how nervous he is, just bring home the bacon.
Take my advice, I'm not using it !!!
Right. It's not Xanders' OR McD's job
REALLY, to be the press agent for the franchise, so I accept that these guys are not Demosthenes. A good GM and Coach is all I need from them.

He's also been put in the position of talking about what the Broncos are doing
without giving away any of the specifics that could undermine their draft/free agency plans.

he did very well. Came off honest. Made me comfortable as a fan without really giving anything up.

I liked it
Character may be manifested in the great moments but it is made in the small ones -- Philip Brooks
What I took from it
Was that they’re very explicit on what they want. There has already been commentary on how small their draft board is in the past year. This partially explains why.
Given this, it explains the trade happy nature of their drafting process. They want to pop up in the limited places that they see value.
Be very interesting how it plays out.

there is a lot of talent in this draft so trading down would be a good idea
It will be interesting to see what happens though
Wow, How'd this guy get to be the General Manager of the Denver Broncos?!!
This is no politician, the is not a good ol boy. We’ll see if this McXanders experiment works. This guy seemed as excited about the whole process as he was uncomfortable in front of the camera.
So young though. I hope McX gets the team behind them and keeps it. Otherwise this experiment will fail before it gets an honest chance to work.
Loved the bit about how they come at the issues “from the side”, they’ve already got the guys who’s game they like, now they see if they can handle the pressure from other angles, what’s their personality like? How’s their mental toughness? I wonder if they pissed anybody off? Sounds like they pissed off a few …or caught em being shady.
I love it.
Here we go Bronco Nation, everybody on the same page? This is a HUGE year for us. Make or break really.
Go Broncos.
We come from the MF SIDE to TAKE IT!

Xanders did look nervous
but it’s difficult to not be nervous when you’re in the spotlight, until you get used to it. Also, he looks like he’s been working hard and is tired – note the bags under his eyes.

He mentioned social maturity being important...
I think that is the core issue with the Marshall situation right now…
BMarsh is at the age where he is getting that under control. I think we’re lucky not to have any other issues with this (that we know of)..
Nervous or not, he brought some good information. I’m glad they have the entire prep time for the draft this year….can’t imagine the cramming they had to do last year. :)
