Broncos Agree to Terms with Defensive Lineman Le Kevin Smith

The Denver Broncos have re-signed defensive end Le Kevin Smith, per the Denver Broncos' Twitter page and Rotoworld.

Smith is a former sixth round pick of the New England Patriots in 2006, and was acquired by the Broncos along with a seventh round pick for the team's fifth round pick in 2010.

After a rocky first season with the Broncos, Denver has decided to at least give Smith a chance to make it out of camp.  He is the fourth defensive lineman signed by the Broncos since free agency began, and after not being tendered by the Broncos, it was rumored he was visiting the Patriots.

Smith appeared in 13 games for the Broncos, starting twice, and he recorded ten tackles over the course of the season.

So i guess that means Holliday isn't coming back?

Tis a shame.

If he has a good camp he might make the final but i would expect one of the drafted rookies to be better than him.. If we do draft DE that is..

I though Peterson was better on 3rd down situations

Mainly I remember Kenny causing the fumble that Ayers scooped up for a touchdown. KP was an ideal 3rd and long NT.

Wow, wasn’t expecting this one….

I would rather have Peterson or Holliday back over LKS, but again, I’m sure the FO knows things we don’t. Age was probably the biggest factor here.

Does this mean we will see another one our bubble D-Linemen sacked?

Surgery

Le Kevan knee surgery may well have played a significant role in his lack of production last year. We could be surprised with a full year to recoop under his belt.

Dra'

I don’t understand why you would cut Dra without having a better player already onboard

yay...........

There possibly is a reason why the Patriots don’t want these people…because they suck. However I am fine for gathering up practice bodies

hmmm

KC was pursuing him so it’s better to have him back here competing than bolstering their lineup.

We’re not going to carry more than 7 – 8 DLs so he’s obviously not guaranteed a spot on the final roster, but he still offers more in the short-term than most draftees.

What some people may have forgotten is that he suffered a meniscus tear shortly around the time we acquired him, and his performance was probably affected by that injury.

no goats, no glory.

His knee injury is something I missed.

It could explain a lot, because his performance, last season, had me feeling that his signing was a real dud.
