That is shocking
Looks like big movement at LB too after all the DL/NT action. I’m sorry to see Dre go. He played pretty well downhill last year. Bittersweet I guess because I’m excited to see who they have in mind to shore up his position.
I'm glad we had this talk. -- TJ Johnson
That is unexpected
What was his contract situation? (years left, cap hit, etc.)
one year left

wow
it’s probably good for Andra to get released this early. He can find work easy.
Good luck, Dre.
Wonder if Denver’s targeting anyone in the draft, promoting Larsen, or looking for an ILB FA (restricted or not).
yeah even though it is surprising and kind of shows our hand for draft needs it is a classy move
by the Broncos to allow him to find work before OTA’s

Larsen is currently listed as a LB on the roster and on the depth chart at Denverbroncos.com

I thought
They’d bring in a rookie and slowly train him behind Davis. The brass saw something they didn’t like!

he signed a 2 year deal last year
so Denver is probably freeing up some dough for a rookie or FA ILB
What ILB FA's are out there. Not too much in the way of starting caliber is there?
I know Foote is still available but does he play on the inside?

Maybe? ...
We go out and get MLB D’Qwell Jackson and Brady Quinn in a trade from Cleveland
Moreno 09 and beyond!!!

This was certainly unexpected. I figured we'd keep him for depth, at least.
Maybe we are targeting someone else?
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I think Keith Bulluck is a FA
Not sure if he’s rfa or ufa but either way, he’d be awesome!

UFA
I do believe Bulluck is unrestricted
Not Sure
I first thought McClain too, but you don’t usually cut people to make room for a guy in the draft. Usually you draft first cut later, because McClain is not guaranteed to fall to us. Therefore, I would imagine they either have the guy on the team already, or they are negotiating a contract with a FA as wee speak. That’s just my guess.
Hey, at least one of my Bronco teams can Hoist a championship trophy this year! Fiesta bowl champs 2010! woohoo!

Can LeKevin play LB?

I feel like there’s something in the works. But sad to see him go. This is a business…maybe they didn’t see him how we did. Wonder where he ends up.

no way we can know that
they might be targetting ILB in the draft, but there is no way to know if they will be available when we pick,.
I agree with the person above who figures Denver already has an answer in place for this, either a FA in negotiations or someone on the roster.
At this time of year, moves aren’t made based off the draft board, the draft board is adjusted based off of moves like this. This is all about internal roster considerations. When I scratched ’Dre off of my chart, I noted that ILB is one of the positions that gets very weak next year with expiring contracts. I see this move as taking into account that staggering of contracts, and freeing up cash now to negotiate with.

I really wish I knew
my guesses feel to instinctive, and I “learned” at Shanny’s knee…. My guess is that Haggan is the most qualified to move back inside, and that we look at pass rushing potential early, from whatever position we can. I have a particular player in mind, but I have stopped bringing it up because no one wants to hear it….

yeah, i just feel like there is something in the works, otherwise why wouldn’t we keep him for competition in camp at the least? I’m not really sure

Got to be something going on.. Maybe Griesen is all that and more..
Maybe they are convinced Larsen is ready to start.
Maybe a trade. Maybe Our ex LB coach was unhappy with his coverage skills?
It’s pretty safe to say none of us saw this one coming.
yeah, liked him before the injury too
but it sound slike he’s in good shape. good value, would have gone much higher w/o the acl tear.
He’s big, plays well in tight spaces, stays off blocks, and have coverage skills.
My guess is that Nick Greisen is the man in waiting...
I think most of us have forgotten about him due to the early injury in Training Camp… but after a year of rehab and preparation, He might be the guy ready to roll.

pretty sure Griesen is gone...

On the Broncos website?
They haven’t “delisted” any of the UFAs, just guys who were waived or released. I don’t know what the logic is here, but it makes sense to them. They also list Holliday, Law, Hamilton and others whose contracts ran out. It is definitely confusing.
My guess is that they will be delisted when they reorganize the list for OTAs. That will coincide with announcing numbers for the new guys, I think. This would be a good question for Patrick Smythe at Broncos HQ….

Good point
That was true last off-seseaon too – folks were listed at old positions, even though they’d moved. My point was only that Greisen is still around and still listed at ILB – minor as that may be, he could be in the mix. If he’s not, I’ve wondered why they’ve kept him so far, but as you say, it would be nice to ask Smythe about it.
It all starts with the lines
Might also be Larsen
On the Jan 5, 2010 depth chart on Denverbroncos.com, Larsen was listed as an ILB, 2nd string behind Davis.

My only concern on Larsen is that he has had a little trouble staying on the field...
First a freak accident, and then something with the back…
But love him when he’s healthy…

One Thing Seems For Sure......
That very few should be secure in their positions on this Broncos roster.

It is classy cutting the guy now
Instead of after camp. The Chargers GM would have made him go to camp, and in the process burned a bridge maybe.
ILB A Davis
A little surprising. I am always uncomfortable when letting a decent player go and not knowing who will replace him-noth that Dove Valley needs to tell me anything. I felt he was good against the run but had problems with the pass. Hopefully this move means that we are going to draft an ILB or pickup a YOUNGER ILB via FA. I am not sure if Larsen is ready to step up and play full time. Very interesting move hope MCD can make this work. GO BRONCOS.
there must be at least one in-house solution. just not sure who it is right now.
