New Mock Draft
Denver has been very busy so far this offseason. I like the additions of Justin Bannon , Jarvis Green and Jamaal Williams. McDaniels improved our Secondary last year and has now done the same to the Dline. Lets not forget that most Rookies don't really contribute in the NFL. Sure there are exceptions ie. Ryan Clady.
I do think that with Andra Davis being released today says something. Denver will not draft Rolando McClain!!!! Think about this for 1 second. If Denver was targeting McClain , wouldn't they wait til after the draft to let Andra Davis go???? McDaniels is the ultimate poker player and would NEVER give away his hand. So you can cross Rolando McClain off the list.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
Next I ask everyone what Denver's biggest need is right now????? Center!!! Denver does not have a starting center on the team.
C , Guard , WR , NT
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Free Agents to be signed
1. Kevin Mawae - signs 1 year deal with option for 2nd year.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Trades
1. Brandon Marshall is traded to Seattle for their 1st(14th) and 5th Round Pick. Denver wanted the 6th Pick but gets the later with the 5th.
2. Tony Scheffler is traded to Cincy for their 3rd Round Pick.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
2010 NFL DRAFT
1st Round Pick(11th) ---------------------------------------------------------- Dan Williams - NT - 6'2" 327lbs. Denver draft Dan Williams because they know that Jamaal Williams is likely to play only 2 more years. He will rotate in and will be seasoned in the NFL before taking over.
1st Round Pick(14th via Seattle)------------------------------------------------- Maurkice Pouncey - Center/Guard Florida. Yes this is early for Pouncey but he will be Denver's Starting Center for the next Decade.
2nd Round Pick------------------------------------------------------------------- Demaryius Thomas - WR - GT - Thomas will fall into the 2nd Round with his recent broke bone in his foot.
3rd Round Pick --------------------------------------------------------------------- Tony Pike - QB - Cincy - Denver drafts this tall QB to groom into their starter in 1-2 years.
3rd Round Pick(via Cincy)---------------------------------------------------------- Amari Spievey - CB - Iowa - very solid CB
4th Round Pick------------------------------------------------------------------------ LeGarrette Blount - RB - Oregon - 6'1" 245lbs
5th Round Pick------------------------------------------------------------------- Micah Johnson - ILB - Kentucky
6th Round Pick------------------------------------------------------------------- Dexter Davis - OLB - Arizonia St
7th Round Pick------------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Dodge - Punter
______________________________________________________________________________________________
Final Thoughts
1. With Denver cutting Andra Davis before the draft means that Denver has No intentions of drafting Rolando McClain.
2. Denver must find a Center and signing Mawae and then drafting Pouncey would be a very smart move.
3. Dan Williams is a great NT prospect but we all know that most Rookies take time to have a IMPACT.
4. Demaryius Thomas should be available at our 2nd Round Pick because of the broke bone.
Any thoughts????

I like this mock draft.
Especially the Tony Pike Pick up. Well done sir.

Really?
Did you see what the Florida Gators (the only real defense that Pike’s Cincinnati Bearcats went up against last season) did to Tony? Don’t let the overall stats – which are still rather pedestrian – fool you, neither: he finished that game with a flourish once UF took its collective foot off the pedal. His stats through 3+ quarters were 22/38 for 130 yards and 1TD. Heck, I don’t even think he was that good… I can understand people liking either Sam Bradford or Jimmy Claussen in the first, Tim Tebow or even Colt McCoy in the middle rounds and a whole slew of late round guys with potential; I just don’t think I’ll ever get anyone liking Pike in this draft…

For the UF game
He lost his HC and OC in Brian Kelly, that would be like the Broncos playing a game without McD. Thats a really tough game to make judgement on.
Want a game to make judgement on? Look at the Pitt game. Sure, he only completed 50% of his passes, but when the game was on the line and his team needed him, he went above and beyond the call.
Now I’m not his biggest fan either, but getting him in the 3rd wouldn’t be that bad at all. But, given the position he plays and his physical attributes ie: height, arm some team will probably snag him in the 2nd.

I’m serious now. I’ve asked nicely. Please lay off the images and put a jump in to your posts.

At least it’s not all in bold. :) I hadn’t noticed him posting on here. Is he up to one a day yet?

i would take it
i think that that fact that we scoped out Ducasse means that we are willing to a OG with that second round pick and would not be shocked if we did.
not that i would be saddend by Thomas though
oh yea, dont like taking a QB- we are biding our time until the jets cut O’Connell who we will then sign to backup Orton
in my opinion of course

When you make a post..
In the text box where you right what you want to talk about, there is a thing called the jump. It is enclosed in two lines..
It looks like this
_________________________________
The Jump * Add or Remove The Jump
-———————————————————————————
All you have to do is post a short introduction before the top line of the jump and then the main article after the bottom line of the jump. Easy. I means mobile users don’t have to scroll through miles of text and images, which is tedious.
also put any pictures after the jump then people can choose if they want to read the article 'now' while on there mobile..
Or come back to it later when on their pc.
Sorry man... didn't mean to be harsh but you cost me money :)
Great if you can do what HS asks… because i appreciate your posts.

Sounds like you might like Pouncey more than McClain?
1. With Denver cutting Andra Davis before the draft means that Denver has No intentions of drafting Rolando McClain.
2. Denver must find a Center and signing Mawae and then drafting Pouncey would be a very smart move.
Am I missing something here? You’re using the same reasoning to draft a center as you are to NOT draft an ILB.
We cut our center early, therefore we should draft an early center? But we cut our ILB early, so we would NEVER, ever, never draft an ILB early? Double standard?
Next I ask everyone what Denver’s biggest need is right now? Center!!! Denver does not have a starting center on the team.
Neither do we have a starting ILBer. How can you say to cross off the ILB from the draft list, that McD would never show his hand, then for the same reason say we’re drafting Pouncey?
In both cases, we don’t have a starter. IYet, in one case you say it’s very smart to draft the highest rated guy at the position (Pouncey), and in the other case you say “Denver will not draft (the highest rated guy at the position) Rolando McClain!!!!”
?
Good luck with the Redskins Mr. Mike! I'll be watching and cheering for a non-Bronco team for the first time in my life. Well, except when they play the Broncos!

bey bey aka d. thomas
I go to tech and I believe he will be a play maker at the next level. He is tall strong and fast with good hands… what more do you want from a receiver.
by broncosforever on Mar 11, 2010 10:43 PM MST reply actions
Personally I would prefer using the 3rd rounder on WR Carlton Mitchell or a big Guard
Could you imagine a WR corps of D. Thomas and Mitchell. Those are some big fast boys with E.Royal or Gaffney in the slot this would be dangerous. I think we can skip the punter with pick 7 and pick up a project QB like Hiller or trade it to the jets for O’Connell. If we get M. Johnson in the 5th round I would be happy about that too.
Rather than picking Dan Williams with 11 I would almost rather see us trade back and pick up Weatherspoon and an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick.
The difference is that we pick up Kevin Mawae in Free Agency where Pouncey could learn from him and has the abiltiy to play guard and center if Seth Olsen doesn’t cut it.
I just don’t think McDaniels would cut Andra Davis if his intentions were to draft Rolando McClain. It is tooooo obvious and McDaniels is sneaky.

Yeah maybe but you need to understand
Every post like this costs me cash if I hit the fanpost section on my mobile. You instantly get hit with a 100kb download. Not to mention the scrolling. Also I’ve asked nicely at least twice on his last two posts.
There was also a highly recommended post on this issue that sat on the main page for at least a week.
I don’t want to be the post police. I appreciate all effort in here. But I have asked nicely. Seriously.

Man, people are jumping all over you.
Personally, I love this mock. This is a pretty solid one, top to bottom. Micah Johnson is a personal favorite, of mine, by the way. He’s a very talented linebacker. Last year, he didn’t have a very productive year, compared to his junior year, but there is a pretty simple explanation. The defensive line that had protected him and allowed him to make plays in his junior year left. He had to take on a lot more blockers, limiting his big play potential. He still led the team in tackles, though. Micah Johnson could be a steal in the 5th round, if he falls that far.
Very nice job.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Agreed!
I like the mock also, one of the better ones I’ve seen.(With the exception of Blount and the punter) Blount has too much baggage and I’d rather draft the punter, Zoltan Mesko(Cool name!).

haha, right on. I'd love to have a Zoltan on our team.
In the event of an alien invasion, maybe they would allow our beloved Broncos to play on.

For the most part
I like this draft. Only things I disagree with are the fact that we would pass on McClain if he is there, I don’t think that the Crohn’s will be that big of an issue for him. The only other thing I have a problem with is taking pike in the third. Do we really need another project quarterback sitting on the bench with Branstater when we have so many other needs?
It just doesn’t make sense that if Denver was going to target Rolando McClain that they would let Andra Davis go before the draft. This would tip every team in the NFL that Denver was going after McClain. McDaniels just doesn’t work like that. He would try to hide his plans of drafting Rolando.
As far as Tony Pike. He is a tall QB who has thrown alot of TD’s in college. Besides Bradford and Graham almost every QB drafted after them are going to need alot of work!!! So Pike could be possible. I understand your concern.
by Broncosfansd on Mar 12, 2010 9:22 AM MST up reply actions
You are on the right track here.
You have pretty much all the same guys again, but you are speaking logically about McClain. The McClain enthusiasts are not going to buy it though. Marshall leaving is all whether or not you think we want him gone. You, obviously do. It sure makes it easier to make your mock look good, I’ll give you that.
11.Pouncey. If we can trade down a little without risking losing him we will.
45.Ducasse
80.Jamar Chaney ILB Mississippi State 6-1 242
The rest BPA
Febuary 16, 2009 the Broncos released 6 players including LBer Jamie Winborn...
The Broncos on Monday announced the release of the following six players: John Engelberger, Nate Jackson, Niko Koutouvides, Marquand Manuel, DeWayne Robertson and Jamie Winborn.
Is that saying they didn’t draft Robert Ayers? I don’t see the logic here of thinking McDaniels won’t draft Rolando McClain at #11 just because he released Davis. There may be a ploy behind this release to get teams before us to jump on McClain so we can target and get the player we want. I can see McD being devious enough to do something like that, make it look like we are in fact going to draft McClain when we get a Joe Haden, Eric Berry or Jimmy Clausen.

orange and blue aussie
I understand the Jump part of the post and I am with you, But come on Aussie most of us like the images and I think it is a little selfish to ask for no images bacause it costs you money.Get a better phone my man! Great Mock, but I am hearing it will be Hiller as QB not Pike.
2/3 of the earth is covered by water the other 1/3 is covered by Champ Bailey!
THIS IS BRONCOS COUNTRY!!!
Okay fair enough
I’m good with what you say fella.
But chuck a jump in… if I choose to pick his post… then cool. I’ll cop the images. But if I choose to browse the fanposts on my phone then I have to download the entire post of every post that doesn’t have a jump. I’m not sure that’s too fair.
As I said, there was a good post that was well recommended about this. It was in a slow period so it was on the front pages of the site for ages. Most regular posters should respect that others like to use their phones and quite frankly, money or not… it’s a pain in the arse scrolling through every image!
Just sayin’

Stupid posting before I'm ready.
I agree that a properly formatted fan post is much better than the alternative, and I’m not nitpicking you in anyway, just felt by reading the comments that it seemed too many jumped on his case because he used images and didn’t add a jump.
If we complained about everyone not doing everything perfect when posting, etc. then the community as a whole will suffer because people will just say screw it and I think we can all agree that is not what we want.
Now, if you just doing it because he’s in SD. then never mind and I support you. (Just kidding)

If McD takes Dan Williams they will only do it to take him out of San Diego's hands.
Chris Baker has basically the same frame as Williams and ran a 4.9/40, plus with a year in systemhe is way beyond what Williams would be on draft day. IMO Baker is our future NT. Puncey taken at 14 would be a reach similar to what the tRaiders do and that isn’t going to happen. Blount didn’t even show up for his Proday? What’s up with him?
Some I like, some not so much
I’m ambivalent about Maewae – to expensive and short term for the need. I actually think we may have the solution (at least temporary) in house.
Amari Spievey, Micah Johnson and Dexter Davis interest me a lot.
Dan Williams is allright but is more another Chris Baker than a successor to Jamal Williams. Cody would be better, especially if he could play at 240-245. (He’s already done to 250-255 from 270 I think I heard)
Pouncey is all right in the first round but I have others that might interest me more. Besides I still don’t think Seattle and Denver will agree on #14 for him.
Don’t know about Blount. Still thinking.
I’m not above drafting a punter though most would say it’s a waste of a draft pick. It is a need if Colquitt or Trapasso don’t work out.
Demaryius Thomas is IMO very overrated. Later round receivers are more attractive to me.
Tony Pike is a clone of Tom Brandstater with less arm strength and mobility (probably less smarts as well since TB did a masters in his 5 yrs in college). Someone like Skelton in the late rounds appeals to me more.
