McD Calls Kyle, Confirms He's Still Our Starter (for now)
It would seem that this answers the question of how McD currently views Quinn's role on the team - as a project we obtained at a relatively low price. Still, if Kyle performs poorly in camp and or in the preaseason and Quinn is tearing it up, Kyle's seat could get warm in a hurry. In light of this development, however, I anticipate that Kyle will be under center on opening day in 2010.
As stated on rotoworld:
"SI.com's Peter King reports that Broncos coach Josh McDaniels called Kyle Orton immediately after Sunday's trade for Brady Quinn to inform Orton he's still the team's starting quarterback. There's little doubt that Orton will take the first snap at OTAs, but he's still going to have to out-practice and outperform Quinn in exhibition games to stay atop the depth chart. McDaniels may view Quinn as his long-term pet project. With better physical tools, Quinn offers more upside than Orton."

Let them compete but if they’re even the tie should go to Orton for the sake of continuity. If Quinn is clearly better, give him the job.

King
It is also worth noting that king has mixed up spencer larsen and Hill (in regards he believes hillis played both full back and linebacker)..
If he can’t even get something like that accurate i wouldn’t put much stock in anything else he wrote.
Think Orton will skip Minicamps now????
If just to bring Orton into the minicamps and OTA’s it was a great move. Orton can’t afford to let Quinn get ahead of him with the coaches or team.
Orton was never going to miss OTAs
It wasn’t going to happen – look at his career. He’s always accepted whatever happens and continued to show up and work hard. He’s also still the #1 QB on the Broncos.
King’s info contradicts what the DP printed — a quote from Orton, stating that he’d spoken to McD before the Quinn trade and is comfortable knowing that he’s the starter. Every QB – except, last year, Jay Cutler – knows that the job is only his until someone outworks and out-performs him. That’s certainly true of Orton, but so? Quinn has major issues with his technique that have to be ironed out before he’s even given the #2 slot, much less starting.
The Quinn trades says far more about how thee Broncos feel about Simms. Regardless of how hard he’s working, his performance last season gives the Broncos pause, and it should. Quinn has real game-day experience over Brandstater as well. He was cheap insurance, but fans are really reading a lot more into this than it has earned.
It all starts with the lines

I Think Competition Sucks
/s/ Bill Hancock, BCS head tool. In all seriousness, I think competition is the best thing of all time in sports! That’s precisely why I’m filling out as many brackets as I can in hopes of winning the March Madness jackpot. Competition will only make Orton a better quarterback and what’s not to love about that?

I had heard Orton along with pretty much every other RFA would be skipping the OTA
