Mock Draft keeping Marshall/Scheffler
It seems like the market for both Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler isn't as hot as most of us expected. It seems like Brandon Marshall's BAGGAGE is causing teams to shy away from the very talented WR. So with every day it gets more likely that Denver holds on to both players.

Updated Team Needs
1. Center - Denver does not have a starting center on the team after cutting Casey Wiegman. This is now the top priority in my eyes unless Josh McDaniels has secretly trained Seth Olsen to take over there.
2. Left Guard - Is Seth Olsen ready???
3. NT - Yes we have Jamaal Williams and Ron Fields but what happens if either go down.

Free Agents yet to be signed
1. Kevin Mawae - Denver should sign him to a 1 year deal with option for 2nd year. Mawae just made the ProBowl and would be a great 1-2 year fix at Center .

2010 NFL DRAFT
1st Round Pick -------------------------------------------------------------- Dan Williams - NT /DE - Tennesee - 6'2" 329lbs - Denver drafts this big player who can play both NT and DE. But drafting Jamaal William's replacement now makes alot of sense and NT is alot harder position to fill than LB.
2nd Round Pick ------------------------------------------------------------------- Matt Tennant - Center - Boston College - 6'5" 300lbs - Tennant has started over 40 games for Boston College and will learn from Kevin Mawae for 1 year.
3rd Round Pick ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Jordan Shipley - WR - Texas - 5'11" 193lbs Shipley is the type of player McDaniels loves.
4th Round Pick ------------------------------------------------------------------- Walter Thurmond - CB - Oregon - Thurmond was rated a possible 1st/2nd Round Pick before injury. He has tons of upside.
6th Round Pick------------------------------------------------------------------------- Micah Johnson - ILB - Kentuky - Nfldraftscout has him as 6th round due to slow 40 times after knee injury.
7th Round Pick ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Javarris James - RB - Miami 6'0" 210lbs Great pickup in 7th round.

Final thoughts
1. Denver is going to draft a center this draft unless Josh McDaniels has plans for Seth Olsen at center. But to count on him there is a little scary so I do see Kevin Mawae getting signed and Denver either trading down in 1st for Maurkice Pouncey or drafting Matt Tennant in 2nd.
2. Dan Williams to me is the best player available at 11. This is not counting players who will most likely be gone - Berry , Suh. I do think that Joe Haden is going to be in play.
3. Jordan Shipley would be a very nice addition to Denver and that he can play some WR and take over special teams from Eddie Royal.

Nice, I like this mock
I think getting a nose tackle and center early would be very smart. A receiving corps of Marshall, Royal, and Shipley could help us for years.
I like this mock.
Why Tenant over Walton? Don’t you think either Tenant or Walton would be a stretch in the second round?
Tennant and Walton
are both around 300 lbs. but Tennant is couple inches taller. Tennant is probably considered more athletic but Walton is considered stronger. He put up 34 reps compared to Tennant’s 27 on the bench press at the Combine.

Calm waters in trades not forever
I understand mock drafting with only our current picks, but saying that you expect not likely to be moved is wrong. I truly believe you will see both Marshall and Scheff moved on or near draft day. It will cause all of these mocks to be absolete. I hope we get a chance to see the results of the trades so we can mock with the more likely scenarios but I dont think it will work out for us.
Regardless, I do like your mock, with the exception that we now need an ILB more than ever – despite my fanaticism for Larsen to be given a chance to play.

O & B is correct about changes...
At #11 McClain is better value than Williams. I agree with O&B about Larsen and I will still hold up hopes for Baker at NT.
I am gitty with expectations
I don't mind my own
I can read my own stuff just fine. ;-)
A man does what he has to do, and sometimes it’s not what I believe he should do. There’s no reason to use up energy hating him for it. Shoot him if you have to, but don’t hate him.
Louis L’Amour
Hamilton at center??
He is my thought;
Ben Hamilton is a 10 year vet and does have the center experience. He is big at 6-4 285-295. Maybe he is the ‘trainer’ for the young center group? (Fry, Olsen, draft)
Seems to me that Mawae would have had some discussion already.
Hamilton isn't on the team but he could possibly fill in for a year or 2 but I don't think he is any better than Wiegman!!!
Mawae is better than both of them

i think it'd be a mistake
Hamilton’s injury prone and is a serious medical risk. Him playing center would exacerbate his concussion issues. I just think that it’s way too risky to ask him to play center. I barely trust him at guard, but that’s just me.
Anyone remotely comparable to Nalen is a stud. He should be in the HOF. The amazing thing about Tom is that he’s actually a superb athlete with a fairly thin frame (much more so now than when he was playing) and I’m amazed he played so long and so well with an extra 50 to 75 pounds than he ever should have weighed.

i'm not a mock draft guy...
But, this is the best, most reasonable, most realistic one I’ve seen in a while. The probablity that our ’10 draft looks somewhat like yours is higher than most mocks, in my opinion.
If Denver’s roster stays static from now until the draft, Denver will need 2 centers, an extra NT, at least 1 more ILB, and a younger slot WR. You have those bases covered pretty well.
I’d love Denver’s draft if it came out like this. Great job!

Very nice draft.
I’m really stoked about maybe getting Shipley. He’s a player, and I think you’re right that he fits right in to the McDaniels mold.
I still hope that if neither player (B-Marsh or Sheff) get traded that we can find some way to move back in the draft.
It takes neither courage nor intelligence to cheer for a team only when that team wins. The true test of a fan's mettle is the same as it is for a player: Were you there when you were needed?
aka Solace
Anyone hear about Brandon Spikes' 5.0+ second 40 yd dash time?
Now I think we have to pick up Mcclain in the first.

What now? I'll tell you Butch...There ain't no 'what now' . . . between me and you! Pulp Fiction
I just had to do it, it was so inticing after the comment you made of, what would we do if Jamal Williams or Ronnie Fields went down to injury…Well, let’s see, if you consider that Marcus Thomas or Chris Baker as nobodies, then we’ll have to address the position. Not with the first pick though. IMO. Let’s say for a moment that Chris Baker’s development is slow and not yet ready for prime time, but he is able to be a 3rd string backup this season, that should suffice the teams need for NT, shouldn’t it? And just for grins, let’s say that Marcus Thomas’ hold out of OTA’s somehow P’s the coach off enough to cut him. Does that still have us short in the NT position? Hmm…Something to think about and consideration should be made to draft a NT then right? Well, let’s take a look at one more posibility here. The acquistion of Justin Bannan from the Ravens. Remember him? He has played the NT position with success and even though we project him to play in the Defensive End position, he could fill in at NT in an emergency. Right? Counting backwards I count 5 potential NT’s on the roster already, with at least 2 (J Williams and Fields) who we figure will start. OK, do we want to draft a 6th potential NT in the first round? I’m not saying Dan Williams isn’t the next best thing to ever play the position, I am playing devil’s advocate for the people wanting to win the MHR mock draft coffe cup! Now if we were talking about reaching up from 45th in the 2nd rd to get Cam Thomas at say maybe 38-44 then I would be more at ease with the positional choice. Cam could have the same impact as D Williams IMO. But, if you are intent on D Williams and will be satisfied to take 2nd place in the mock draft here, then by all means, pencil D Williams in. I’m looking in another direction myself…Thanks for the nice mock and it has been a pleasure talking to you…
you make a pretty good case on this point bf2b..
.. you almost have me convinced.. not quite yet but almost. :-)
Congrats on your first jump.. :-)
Really like this one..
At this point, i wouldn’t mind Williams, McClain or Haden.. each are talented with plenty of potential but i am not completely sold on any off them for one reason or another..
Tennant in the second i would be totally happy with..
Jordan Shipley is a great prospect but i am not sure he is the right kind of receiver for us.. I see deep threat as being more of a priority but maybe Lloyd is just right for that role.
RB might also be a nice option in the third.. We will be working out Toby Gerhardt.. imo if he is there when we pick in the third we would be stupid not to pick him up.
Thurmond is good with me..
Micah Johnson would be ok but i wonder if us getting rid of Davis is an indicator that we are looking for for more speed/coverage skills in the middle.. If so then maybe a slightly faster prospect would be a better fit?
Dan Williams
Obviously McDaniels didn’t think to highly of Chris Baker , Kenny Petterson , Ryan McBean because of the signings of Bannan , Williams and Green.
Dan Williams can play both NT and DE. He is very big but has a high motor and would be great at DE too.
good job
nice mock, glad to see you getting some respect, would prefer to see a little more attention to the the guard position on the ol
Seth Olsen determines our 1st round pick
As weird as it sounds, he will determine if we go with a guard or center in the first two rounds. If he’s capable of starting center, we go MacClain #1 and Ducasse #2, and pick up Eric Olsen in the sixth (yes Olsen twins at center). If he’s more comfortable at gaurd I see us trading back for Pouncey #1 or going Tennant #2. I do like the Shipley pick also
Thank you for Shipley!!
I have been much higher on his ability and potential than many. 3rd round feels about right, but I think that even if he went second round to some team, the initial cries of “What a reach!!” will change over a couple ot years. No way to know for sure, of course..
LOVE SHIPLEY
Having lived in Austin and seen the man up close, he is the real deal (although I am no NFL scout). It seemed like every ball that came to him was either a deep ball (in which he was wide open having burned the DB) or a circus catch. The guy has hands of glue (although I saw him drop one at the combine, NOT the best time Ship). For those who didn’t see it, the dude caught a pass from Colt McCoy going 40 mph in a boat. Need I say anything else?
