He irks me, He irks me not. (NFC East Version)
Aloha from Hawaii (where the Pro Bowl belongs...haha) everyone! The good thing about living in Hawaii is that there's great diversity when it comes to football fan-hood. As I was working out this morning, I noticed that there was a Cowboy fan, Giant fan, Charger fan and last but certainly LEAST, a raider fan. I started thinking about how much certain players from each of those teams "irk" me. I also thought about some players that I truly respect from those teams. It inspired me to write a series called "He irks me, He irks me not." I know that the purpose of this site is not to bash people. I just wanted to get my thoughts out and create "blogalogue" (blogging dialogue?) So, for each Friday I will be covering a different division, starting with the NFC East and ending with the AFC West (best for last.) More after the jump...
NFC EAST
Dallas Cowboys: He irks me: Roy Williams. Is it just me or does this guy think too highly of himself? I thought he was a monster coming out of Texas, but he should be considered somewhat of a bust. He's slow, he sucks and yet he complains about not getting the ball enough. The Cowboys gave up a fortune for him...and for what? So Miles Austin could step in and take his role??? I know a bunch of Cowboy fans here that are still scratching their heads at this. I'm glad that he got lit up when the Broncos played him! He irks me not: Tony Romo. I know that a lot of people just don't like him. He folds in pressure situations, goes to Mexico with Jessica Simpson and works on his golf game a lot....but I think he takes too much blame for the Cowboys misfortunes. I think he's a very good QB. There are teams out there that would love to have him instead of the QB that they currently have. Also, I think he's a quality guy. Check this link out for more info:
New York Giants: He irks me: Brandon Jacobs. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy watching him run people over and all. I just can't get over him celebrating running over a 210lb safety or sub 200lb corner. I mean c'mon, that's what you're supposed to do...act like you've done it before! I'll have no problem with him running over a LB or D-Lineman and standing over them celebrating. Plus, I think he's the second best RB that the Giants have. He irks me not: Eli Manning. Look no further than the Super Bowl against the Patriots and one of the most memorable plays in sports history. Love the determination and escape factor. This past season, minus Plaxico, Eli turned a seemingly mediocre core of wideouts into a pretty solid group. Now that is a QB making his WR's better...I remember another QB saying that about Marshall and Royal too...Oh, I'll save that one for later!
Philadelphia Eagles: He irks me: DeSean Jackson. This kid is an absolute stud. But, he needs to learn how to be a bit more professional. From that infamous dropping of the ball before a TD to the "we goin sting they ass" quote before their embarrassing whooping that they got from the Cowboys. Plus, I like our 2008 1st round WR better...just a little bit biased there. He irks me not: Donovan McNabb. Is there any other QB with such a huge target on his back? He hasn't had support since the day his was drafted! Though he's never won a Superbowl, he's been a highly productive QB. And just like Tony Romo, there are many teams that would jump after McNabb if he became available. I also believe that he is one of the truly good guys in the NFL.
Washington Redskins: He irks me: DeAngelo "Eddie Royal is my Daddy" Hall. Has there ever been a CB who ran his mouth so much, yet was unable to back his talk up? This guy causes so much drama, yet with little production. I believe that he's got some skills, but it certainly doesn't match the size of his mouth. What I do like though, is that Eddie Royal has DeAngelo a lot in his highlight reels. He irks me not: Jason Campbell. Geez, it seems like I have a soft spot for QB's. This guy has played QB in a different system for a record setting 133 straight years now, with this upcoming season proving to be no different. Talk about perseverance and strong character. Not only that, but he got killed last year! Did you see how many times this dude got sacked??? It seemed as if he knew that every drop back could be his last. Ouch! I really do hope that Shanny helps bring consistency and develop this guy. If not, there's always Colt Brennan...Sorry, couldn't resist. Had to give Him a Shout-out. He did after-all, treat the University of Hawaii fans to a season to remember in 2007...only to get owned by the Knowshon Moreno led Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl.
Well, there you go. I hope that I didn't step on anyone's toes. This is strictly my BIASED OPINION. I don't claim to know everything. And I even asked for my wife's input...LOL! Have a great weekend everyone! God bless!

Fun series
I would have a hard time picking only one “irks me” from the Cowboys, but a lot of that is in the past for me. I agree that Romo can be a very likable dude. He seems pretty genuine, and has held up well under the Dallas pressure. He catches a lot of flack for not getting tough when the going gets rough, but last I checked he was still the starter, so i guess we’ll see if he can get his by enduring and keeping his game at a high level…

Yeah picking one 'irks me' from the Cowboys is barely a step behind from....
Having to pick 10 from the Chargers….
There are indeed multiple people (fo) included that irk me.

I like this
This pretty good I like. Refreshing. BTW, not be nitpicky but you have it labeled as AFC East. But we all know your’e talking about the NFC. Sorry, just my bit of OCD coming out. Plus I would never bash someone from Hawai’i since it’s my hometown. Anyways great post. Can’t wait for the next one. Aloha braddah!

Great Idea...
For post. Would be cool maybe to poll the least and most irksome from each team, if not too comprehensive.
Exactly
How are we going to choose just one????
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Haha!
I’ll chose mine and let everyone else choose theirs…Open up a can of worms!

That's fair.
You can choose the obvious one (Philip……) and we’ll fill in the gaps in the comment section.

OK then. Number 1 would be Darren Sproles...
I hate a self centered egotistic player. When he score the touch down against us in the Monday Night game he pointed over his shoulder with his thumb pointing at his name as to say, I’m the one, I’m great, I’m bad. Bull crap, and part of a reason inside of me why he isn’t here even though they tagged him with a 1st and 3rd. Oh, don’t get me wrong, he’s talented but a team success depens on players playing on a team, not by themselves. That’s what I loved about Jerry Rice, after he scored he usually tossed the ball to somebody and trotted off the field.
Hawaii, Nice Post!
DeSean irks me because I don´t want him to go down as the best receiver from that draft…….Come on Eddie, you can do it!
Abide, the dude does. Know you not, but comfort in that I take.
Marion Barber
I know most see him as a pretty good hard-nosed running back. However, living in Dallas I’ve scene pretty much all his carries. This dude celebrates a 10-yard run like he just ran it 80 yds for the winning TD in the SB. It even irritates my bro-in-law who is a die-hard Cowboys junkie. ACT LIKE YOU’VE BEEN THERE BEFORE!
Sounds like Nate Webster...
The dude would jump around and dance if he was within two strides of the tackle and was close enough to see it. I guess the difference would be that Barber is kind of good.
I look forward to more of this
I agree with you on Romo, he seems like a quality guy…… and he turned in some good games for my fantasy team this past season, but still…..
A personal favorite of mine who happens to play for the Giants is Gartrell Johnson, the running back out of Colorado State. In college it was fun watching him plow through defenders, and also making Todd McShay look like even more of an idiot after the New Mexico Bowl.
A poll is now up!

In terms of football ability, talent and production: DeSean Jackson > Eddie Royal.
Jackson is a bit of a Tool, but he is also one heck of a playmaker.
On the other hand, Eddie Royal was terrible in 2009. Guy guy, but man did he ever let Denver and his teammates down last season with his disappearing act.
In my opinion.
