The Fans Draft Strategy Part 3
Last post, I asked the Bronco nation what we should do to address the guard position. In the first poll we had 151 responses. In this one we had just about the same amount coming in at 149 votes. 54 % of the Bronco universe voted to draft a guard such as John Jerry, Jon Asamoah, and Mike Johnson in the 3rd round. 10% of the Bronco universe voted for Brian Bulaga, 24% voted for Mike Iupati, and 9% voted to sign Bobbie Williams. I appreciate all of the Bronco fans participating in this little poll experiment of mine.
In this poll, we are going to talk about the Inside Linebacker position. Last season, Andra Davis was our primary Inside Linebacker. He did a good job at the beginning of the season. However, as the season wore on, Andra noticeably struggled throughout the season. Most of the people here, including myself, thought that Andra was going to remain on the team and help whatever personnel we got to add depth to the position. Early this off season Andra was released to the shock of many people. Now there has already been a poll as to how we are going to address the linebacker position, but mine is going to have different options. So Bronco fans, what do you think?

I said McClain
Because IMO, Dan williams was a late 1st who is rising becuase of the need for such a pos. I think McClain if he fell to us would be great value so I find it hard to pass on him. But if hes taken Dan Williams.
However,if both of em r not there, I would like us to trade down to pick up Iupati/Pouncey/ one of the other great interior OL positons. this is def one of the best interior OL drafts in a while at the top and depth so I wouldnt mind adressin it in the 2nd/3rdd. Any later than that would be bad drafting IMHO
I would not
be opposed to drafting Rolando. I would be lying if I said news of his Chron’s disease didn’t have me worried. I know they say it’s manageable, but Idk if that risk is worth the guarenteed money he would receive. We definitely need to address that area in the first 3 rounds. A talent like John Jerry or Jon Asamoah would be great value in the 3rd.
The word is that we are going to move Mario Haggan to ILB.
He seems like a pretty good player. Who knows if that is a pre-draft smokescreen or not.
You never know
with McD. I would be suprised if we didn’t draft at least one person to add some depth there.
I'd like McClain
But if Hagan is moving to ILB that should be fine. I’d also be interested in seeing Woodyard or Larsen getting a shot.
Mario Haggans is a gr8 move...
He’s hitter w/size and speed! I think he’ll be better than anyone thinks! But we need a J Norwood/Micah Johnson type of ILB in 3/4th rnd’s as future studs. Both have gr8 upsides! Personally I’d love to see Joe Haden @ #11, but if he’s not there….Dan Williams becomes BPA @11, though Cam Thomas is probably better value with equal upside in 2nd/3rd round!
I’ve become fairly secure in the fact that Spencer Larsen will be a ST stud along with Josh Barrett. They’re probably as good as they’re gonna get, which isn’t a bad gig. We could use more hitting machines on our special teams unit. Larsen will continue to see reps as FB primarily.
"Attitude reflects Leadership" Hogblog...aka KSM
I like
Haggan as an ILB. I agree that we need to get another person to add some depth to the ILB position. I would shocked if we didn’t get someone in this draft. Micah Johnson is currently ranked a 6th rounder on CBS draft prospect ratings. That would be a steal since his only major flaws are his injured past.
Brandon Spikes' proday was somewhat disappointing as he ran a 5.1/40
I’m not sure he will be taken in the first couple of rounds. And as Hogblog mentioned, Spence is in his 3rd year and may be primed and ready to go this season. Mario Haggan seems like a logical pick for the job but I could see an ILB later in the draft, say 3-7th.
I will be angry
if we don’t get at least aback up ILB. Hagan will start though. Pat Angerer is a solid pick. He may be smaller than some, but plays with more intensity. He’s good in coverage too. i don’t know where that would put Woody though, who I also like alot.
