The Wake Forest Demon

From GM McDah:  Aaron Curry is as good as they come. The lions need a sure thing with the #1 pick. They can’t afford to have a bust. Come on lions fans you know the names of the past eight years of first round picks: Gosder Cherilus last year (I'm not kidding you), Joey Harrington BUST, Charles Rogers bust, Mike Williams bust, Ernie Simms bust.  Plus a linebacker will cost them a lot less money at #1 then a quarterback.

Almost everyone seems to agree that Curry is one of the best prospects available in this draft and it’s pretty rare to see such a uniform consensus on a player. Aaron Curry is a special player that we can build our defense around.

I’ve said it before and ill say it again Matthew Stafford looks like Phil Mickelson with Down syndrome. TimTebow, Sam Bradford, and Colt Mccoy are all arguably better the Matthew Stafford and they are all going out next year. Dante Culpepper can be the starter this year. This will make them competitive but also insure they will lose enough to be in the top 10 again. The lions can get their quarterback next year. The Lions still have two more premium picks (#20 and #33) to beef up their offensive line.

The Matt Millen era is over  and we won't be bullied into taking another player that could end up on our long list of busts.

Commish's Comments:  Love the pick.  It is a solid play, grabbing a guy who will be worth every penny he gets paid, with little chance of a burn.  Detroit simply can't afford a mistake at #1, and this pick sets up the rest of their draft like dominos.
