Mount Cody on draft day
Words from national media "Any 3-4 should jump at the chance to get this guy. He is a beast and was obviously successful despite his weight at Alabama under Nick Saban. Even if he is just a 2 down player, his impact on those 2 downs and one special teams where he had a great impact blocking field goals would be worth a late first round pick."
IMO the way the NFL teams take guys like this out of the game by running the no-huddle, what good is a 2-down player. I have the same feeling about 3-4 LBers who can not drop into coverage.

If an offensive lineman gets sucked up into a roll in Cody's belly and can't get out, does it count as defensive holding?

You know what? The coach doesn't need to tell you more than once to do something!
This tub of lard was told over and over to trim down by Saban…Coaches don’t need that crap out of a multi million dollar investment. That’s a character issue I think Josh will do without.
I think the kid from UNLV is the sleeper who will surprise.
Last year I was preaching Sammie Lee Hill and he did a good job as a rookie with Detroit, the year before it was Kendall Langford who is with Miami.
This year I think it will be Martin Tevaseu of UNLV. Like Hill, he is moving up the boards, so far I understand he is ahead of Oghobasse, Ivey and Granger on most draft boards. He sits right behind Linval Joseph and Torrell Troup as NT’s.
Like last year with Hill, I think he has all the intangibles and desire one would want. Same for my favorite OL small schooler Jared Veldheer of Hillsdale College. The last Hillsdale guy I remember was K Chester Marcol who played many very good years in Green Bay.
My personal belief is that we should trade down, get more later picks and stock up on depth. Get good OL early, forget Dez Bryant and get the kid from KU or Mizzou in the 2nd or 3rd round.
We have Williams, Baker and in an emergency, Fields at NT, so get Tevaseu or Troup to learn and build up in the mid rounds. McBean will be better after a year on the frontline and Pedescleaux has a year also under his belt and will learn on the frontlines this year behind Fields, Bannan, Green and McBean. I think things look good on the DL because we have Fields who can play anywhere at any time.
So I have no fears or desire to get Williams in the first round.

Big risk, potential big reward
I look at it how much risk are you willing to accept, I see Cody as a huge risk to eat himself out of the league with an unlimited food budget after draft day. If you have confidence you can control his weight, then I agree he is a great potential to be a dominate 3-4 NT, probably the best NT in the draft, but I would have a hard time justifying a number one pick for him early in the draft.

I'm intrigued by Cody
I think his stock will rise simply because he appears to be the closest to the prototypical NT, with regard to size, in this draft.
Also, I thought I saw an interesting trend – 370lbs during the season; 355lbs a couple of weeks before the combine; 349lbs at the combine. If this is his trend, he might be a real find at about 340lbs.
I’m also beginning to think that he will not be available by #45.
