Who Would You Go Nuts For?
The draft is an exciting time for everyone: coaches, players, team brass, and even fans. For a lot of teams, it gives them hope for a brighter future and a sense they are getting better. The draft also gets very emotional, as some fans have a certain guy they see and want on their team. So my question is this: At the number 11 spot, who would you go nuts for if we drafted?
For me last year, I was ecstatic when Orakpo fell to us. I thought to myself we were going to get the best pass rusher in the draft and couldn't wait. However, when Knowshon was drafted, I (and I'm not kidding) threw a dumbell across the room, thinking our O was set and our D needed an overhaul. Now I see McD's wisdom, but I still wouldnt be mad if we had gotten the Rack, but we'll see. This year, I would be happy with McClain, but I would go nuts if we got Dan Williams. I've been on his side since before the Senior Bowl, and I still am. I really just dont know what I'd do if we got him. I would also go nuts for either of the QB's, but thats a longshot.
Now on the other hand, who would you get mad for? Dez Bryant is definitly the guy for me. I would really flip if we got him, and I've been completely against him since day 1. He reminds me of BMarsh way too much, good production bad attitude. His bad attitude was on display at the combine, as he was lacksidasical at all the meetings with coaches and was late plenty of times. Now I dont hate BMarsh, and I dont want to see him traded just yet, but we dont need another one.
So, I ask you, who would you go nuts for if we drafted them at 11?

I would be ticked if we drafted Terrence Cody
or Ricky Sapp, or a kicker/punter.

I like Cody
Call it a hunch. but I would love to get him. I have nothing to back it up other than personal preference.
You probably get this a lot. This isn't the real Caesar's Palace is it?....Did Caesar live here?

Look, the guy did show up to the Combine and faired OK.
I think his problem is weight control, at least that’s what I’ve been hearing. I wouldn’t mind taking him in the 3rd if he lasts that long.
i would be ecstatic if we got gerald mccoy. but he probably won’t drop far enough for us to even trade up and get him, so i put dan williams

My first choice is to trade down...I chose McClain...
Really like Derrick Morgan (ALOT!)…But I would not be upset by the Dan Williams pick…No QB (until round 5 or 6) and No WR at #11 please!

You give me a McClain, D Williams and a Rolle and I'll win you a superbowl.
All three of those guys would immediately make our team better and the offense can be built later in the draft. Target those three guys. I’m serious. Trade Marshall to seattle for #14 and select Dan Williams and Roland McClain at 11 and 14 respectively, then take Myron Rolle at 45. We will have our Nose Tackle, Inside Linebacker and Safety for years. All in one package.

LOL. I just think if the owner/coaches are really serious about winning and building a core group of players for the future it could be those three.
They have talent reeking out of their ears and that just might solidify the defense for years. I’m hoping McD does 10 times better with the draft this year then he did last. That’s my feeling anyway . . . And I will be watching! Heh!
but....since Bryant will most likely be gone by our NEXT pick....
Who do we get as our #1 receiver? I mean I love Royal as much as the next guy, I think gaffney and stokely are both great….but I don’t see a #1 in the group there……

I would go after my first pick
first and that would be McClain at 11, then at 14 I would take D Williams if he is still there, if he isn’t then I would take Earl Thomas. He is the second best Safety and with a year with Dawkins he could be just like him. Then at 45 I would take Cam Thomas 6’4" 330’ out of North Carolina. There are different ways they could go with this and as far as taking Dez Bryant, I’m against that and think it could end up in the same way Marshall has. IMO.
i love it
this is the best idea that i have heard. i love it all. i would be a little worried about a reciever but that defense would be awesome for years!
I wouldn't take a wide receiver in the first two rounds, there will be good talented prospects in the third on.
This way we could solidify our defense and start building the O-Line in the later rounds. Doesn’t that make more sense?
Rolle
I think you could even get Rolle with a 3rd rounder and use the second for a quality receiver with Marshall gone to Seattle, or a guard or maybe center. But i too get chills thinking about a McClain, Williams Front seven. Goose Bumps.
Just think of it this way . . . If any one of them need a neural surgeon in the future, Rolle is the guy.
I’ll take this a little further, Florida St got all bent out of shape when Rolle chose to take a year off to go to Oxford University. For one thing, there are only 35 American given that opportunity each year and he wasn’t going to let it slip through his intelligent mind and I don’t blame him. He has the tools and now just needs the teacher.
Reverse what you said and that's how i feel!
I think i would be most excited about McClain, But would be very happy with Dan Williams as well.
McClain and Williams if we stay at 11.
And I’m with you. I don’t want to touch Dez Bryant with a 10 foot pole.
I would think McDaniels had lost his mind if he let Bradford slip through his fingers at 11.
I don’t think he get’s that far and the reason I don’t even have him on my mind, but he would be worth the 11th spot IMO. Deffinitely!
McClain thoughts
I have been full round on the McClain train. First i loved him like everyone else, then i started to fall off because I was afraid he wouldn’t be there at 11. Then I got back on the train thinking he will be there after he didn’t run in the combine. Now I’m starting to fall back off. I’m a little worried about small little details. But overall I think McClain is a good pick at 11. Great match for value and need. At worst McClain projects to be an average starter. But i also love Williams, Pouncey, and Iupati as well. but those would be in trade backs I hope.
I loved his play when I watched him last year and that was 5 or 6 games.
He seems to have that football savvy and with better (NFL) teachers I could see a player there for the future.
Brandon Graham
And put Ayers on the line.

I would jump up for:
at the 11th pick:
1) McClain ILB
2) Bryant (only if Marsh is traded) WR
3) WIlliams (only guy I would reach for) NT
4) Haden CB
if we traded down or traded Marshall for a late 1st round pick (18 – 28):
1) Iupati OG
2) Pouncey C
3) Price DE
4) Jason Pierre Paul DE
at the 45th pick:
1) Pouncey (I can dream) C
2) A slimmed down Cody, NT
3) Spikes ILB
4) Benn WR
I like the trade down picks the best!

JPP scares the hell out of me as a prospect..
Did you see him do some of the lb drills? His hips looked rigid, I don’t think he would be a good olb, maybe a good edge rusher but at lb I’ll pass.
I am pretty much the opposite of you, other than I also do not want Dez Bryant on this team.
Here are my three nightmare first round picks:
1. Bryant
2. Williams
3. Haden
Bryant screams Diva to me, and I don’t think McD wants any part of him. He is falling on draft boards lately any way, shouldn’t be a worry. If we were going to take a receiver, I would take Golden Tate over Bryant any day, and a couple others before him as well.
Williams just screams bust to me. I can’t get excited about the guy. I’ve watched him play, and just don’t see it.
Haden is only a nightmare to me because I don’t want to see a first rounder spent on a DB, we definitely need depth there, but not a first rounder with the guys we already have in place.
Overall, our first rounder needs to go to either the O-Line or D-Line. Or to McClain. McClain is my dream pick.
I also would be very excited if one of the top 4 tackles made it to us. I get more and more sold on the idea of us drafting a tackle and using him at guard. The reasoning being that tackles can excel at guard, and we would have a starter quality backup in case Harris isn’t able to come back or has more injury problems in the future. In this scenario, Bulaga or Campbell would be awesome. I also wouldn’t mind Iupati, because he’s Samoan and awesome.
I agree with you, but Haden didn't have an eye popping Combine.
I have to wonder if some of these prospects haven’t already been guaranteed a pick and he really didn’t put the effort forward? Because we know he play the position, we’ve seen that.

That’s a lot of doing. It certainly would change the face of the team – I appreciate the perspective. Do you think that Mawae has 2 years left in him?

Or we could!!!
Trade Marshall to Tampa for them 2 second round draft picks (there first round pick is too valuable to them, they’ll never trade it for Marshall)!!! Trade Sheffler to the Bengals for second round draft pick. Trade down our 1st round draft pick and collect an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick.
That would give the Broncos 7 picks in the first 3 rounds. If you look at the needs of the teams who pick in the first round after Denver, on projection we still maybe will be able to pick up Dan Williams later in the 1st round! Then in the second round we can really collect some quality with the 4 or 5 picks we have acquired!
Thx for everyone for answering the poll
And for the great feedback in the comment section. I think most fans are in agreement that McClain or Dan Williams would be great picks at 11.
Dont get me wrong
if we drafted McLain or Williams I would be happy but for me to go nuts it would the prospect of seeing an exciting player in the Broncos uniform or something a little unexpected happened like if for some unlikely reason Eric Berry fell to us and we picked him up.
In the later rounds if DeMariyus Thomas or Jacoby Ford fell to us that would be make me sit up and look forward to the next season.
I would go nuts for...
Trading down out of the 11th pick!
I would go nuts for
JOHN ELWAY!
