Report: Broncos sign J.J. Arrington
According to Josina Anderson,
After being released by the Denver Broncos last season, running back J.J. Arrington is now set to return to his former team.
Sources told Fox31’s Josina Anderson Thursday afternoon that Arrington has just signed a one-year contract. The terms of the deal were not disclosed at the time.
Arrington was on his way back to the airport at the time of this report.
Last year Arrington signed a four-year, $10 million deal on Mar. 4, but had just underwent a knee operation a month prior. Thus, Arrington had trouble working into the team’s offseason activities and was eventually cut.
Arrington, 27, was a second-round choice of the Arizona Cardinals in 2005"
I like this move, it brings a speedy guy (4.4 40 Yard Dash) Who can run (6.0 ypc off of 31 carries in 2008), catch out of the backfield (255 yards receiving in 2008) and take pressure off Eddie to return kicks (26 yards per KR in 2008). Its a one year deal, so it cant really hurt.

March 4th seems to be his lucky day. Crazy.
He signed his contract exactly one year ago, today. And he signs another contract today.
Has this ever happened before?
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

This guy played much of the 4th quarter in the SB against Pittsburg in '09.
If he is able to play, he could be a very good pickup – both at RB and KR.
If he pans out, wonder if he resigns next year on the same date – just for luck?
Josina's old info is wrong
Arrington was never cut because he was never signed. He failed a physical which voided the contract, so he was never even a part of team activities.
However, if he has resigned this is very interesting….
Precision in thought, concision in style, decision in life.

Arrington signed with the Denver Broncos on March 4, 2009. He was released on May 27, 2009 after failing his physical
When they cut Arrington last year, McD said
“Well, you never know. We might see him again.” He had kind of a funny smile when he said it. I’m not surprised – he’s a very talented returner and can give use a great third and fourth option. Good pickup – I liked him when I researched him last year. He blocks well and has good hands as a receiver, Nice move.

His blocking
is perhaps what endears him to coach McDaniels.

I was upset about the turn of events last year when he couldn't pass the physical,
hopefully the 365 days have been good to him and he can stay healthy, if thats the case, I love it. I’m the “we need speed” guy. This mildly satisfies me…..for now. What I don’t like is our two speed guys are injury prone. Woud LOVE McCluster. I almost don’t care what happens until it’s 2nd, 3rd round when we could be the team to call his name, hope this signing doesn’t exclude him from a possibility.
If it is true, I am happy that he will get another chance

Phew...
thought my time machine was acting up again. I’ve always liked Arrington and would love to see him as our KR and change of pace back.
Committing random acts of Brandon since 2006...
I've been wondering about a possible re-signing since he left
There were complaints about the $100, 000 signing bonus we paid but the injury waiver clause prevented us from taking a bigger hit.

I said when he was released that paying him the signing bonus for a few months of work could pay us back in the end. Arrington left saying good things about how we treated him so the groundwork was laid for an eventual re-signing.
I consider the speed back position a hole in our roster, and Arrington also fills the role of returner so he’s not a trivial pick up.
no goats, no glory.
agreed
far from trivial, and seems to be a player in McDaniels graces

A good third down back like Arrington, whose position we never quite filled after he was released.

I see these areas on offense as needing help:
1) – backup RB (either a power back or speed "change-of-pace" RB) (a KR could come at this position, which describes what Arrington would have provided)
no goats, no glory.
Interesting thought, Colinski
Few really noticed it at that time, but the McXanders approach had a positive impression on that player, it seems that they are making reasonable attempts to generate goodwill and to treat people fairly. They established that early – and it’s already borne fruit.
I hope to see that continue. This is a rather ugly time for the NFL, and it’s likely to get better before it gets worse. It was interesting, earlier today, to hear the agent saying that both sides, players and owners, have brought it on themselves. There are likely to be some very hard feelings from some good players. Orton won’t get the payday that he once expected, but in fairness, most of us could survive on 3 million a year or so. Doom is worth more than he’ll probably get, but he may have a long, very profitable career. He doesn’t seem to injure easily, and he really does still need to get better against the run. Scheffler’s money seems pretty fair, and that’s a good payday for Kuper, whom I’ve always liked. Tough-minded guy, good in the locker room and on the field, from all I’ve heard.
The entire country is going through a similar event. people everywhere are cutting back, and it’s going to happen in sports as well. It may be quite a while before the kind of prosperity that we saw grow, become based in a credit economy and dissipate comes back. It may take some changes in the way that we do things, and in what the markets will now bear. In some ways, I don’t think that it’s a bad thing. People are becoming more aware of the value of things other than what George Carlin so artfully called, “stuff”.

Jets/ Bolts on verge of trade. Cromartie goes to Jets for high pick in 2011. 2nd or 3rd
I’m reporting a surprise release, panthers are releasing QB Jake Delhomme, likely as early as tomorrow
When teams play the jets next season, should they just leave their QB and wide receivers at home?
It’s not like they’ll be used. lol. Golly that seems unfair.
Also, does this mean that Vick will be able to wear those Carolina unis he loves so much?
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Chargers traded cornerback Antonio Cromartie to Jets for a 2011 third-round pick that could turn to a second.
Wow, gonna be tough for us to match up against that duo of CB’s
Just run @ Cromartie

I used to love Arrington and this seems absolutely worth the risk
Only caveat is, well, yes, he was speedy, but is he speedy again after the knee surgery and the long layoff? We’ll find out. I’m assuming the Broncos liked what they saw enough to sign him again. And he’s very much worth the risk because if he IS healthy and back in form he’s a great 3rd back and kick returner.

Arrington is one year removed from an injury. That is an entire season of no football. Sure his legs will be fresh but I’ll reserve any excitement until after July. If he’s on the roster and able to do the things prior to that injury, then great. Until then, lets see what else we can do to address true needs on the team.
Say hello to my fast...
Josh McDaniels
Arrington will report for the start of the Broncos’ offseason conditioning program on March 15.
“This has been in the works for a long time,” said J.R. Rickert, Arrington’s agent. ""It’s really been in the works since J.J. had to go back to get his knee taken care of last year. The Broncos said then that as soon as he could pass a physical, they would welcome him back. Other clubs were interested but J.J.’s loyalty was to Josh McDaniels.
Josh McDaniels is a stand up guy!!
Awesome.

Maybe it was answered here already and I missed it
DId he pass a physical? If he did and he still has his quickness I like this move.

You know where I wanna go? I'll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen
Yes, he did, js
All of them do when the contract is signed. See my answer above for a little more. Good question!
