One of those things that make you go hmmmm.
Denver tenders Marshall only a 1st. Baltimore and Cincinnati says they are not interested but Seattle is. How many other teams are? I don't know maybe 3 or 4.
Seattle tenders Rob Sims 6-3 312 the #5 Guard on Walters list of FA guards an original tender which would be a 4th. Clearly worth more than a 4th. Several teams interested.
Does there look to be a trade with Seattle in the works?
Sims and #40 for Marshall?
What do you think?

I wouldn't be opposed to it
I think many people would cry bloody murder thinking that we gave away a top 5 WR.

Yup, get out your "McIdiot"blocker sunglasses............
It’s about to get ugly in Broncos country.
Personally, it doesn’t sound too awful to me. We would be getting a quality starting guard and a 2nd rounder and getting rid of a productive, but troubled receiver. That’s actually not too bad of a deal, if you ask me.
At pick 40, we’d be in a good position to draft a WR, if we felt like we need more receiver depth or upgrade at a number of other positions. The second round seems like a pretty nice place to be sitting this year, so there should be plenty of options if we got their 40th pick.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I agree
I know everyone is high on Iupati, but I rather have a young proven commodity versus risk of a draft pick, it would also allow for maybe us taking a DL/LB 1st and a WR second, and not worry about gurad or center until later in the draft.

No way
we must get a 1st for BM. I think Sims and a 1st would be ok but not a 2nd.

Definitely. I would be all kinds of pissed if all we got for Brandon was a 2nd rounder and an average guard.
Here’s what the Cowboys gave up for Roy Williams:
“The Cowboys will give up a first-round pick in 2009, plus a third- and sixth-rounder that year for Williams and a seventh-round pick in ’10.”
Seeing as how Marshall is significantly better than Williams, and Williams also had his troubles in Detroit, although not at the same level as Marshall, getting a second rounder and Sims would be atrocious. An absolute fleecing.
And KB and Broncoman, I’m astounded that you two goofballs would be OK with that trade! The Shame! :) I kid I kid

+1 my McIdiot blocker glasses would definately be on if that happened.
For that kind of a price, I’d just assume keep him.

Why is he valued as a 4th if he's that good?
Unless they hate him with a burning passion… A fourth and a second does not even come close to the value of a first…
Probably the same reason that we tendered Marshall with only a 1st.
To draw more interest from other teams. Start the bidding low to get more teams interested.
It would probably be more comparable to a late second rounder or early third and an early second rounder for Marshall
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

Oh........... and with a diminished bustability.
If we did get a pick instead, then there’s always the probability that they could bust. If we got Sims, then we know what we’re paying for.
If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.

I understand all of this
but if he’s so amazing why in the hell are they trying to get rid of him???
Change #40 to #14
A 2nd and a 4th does not equal a first
A vision without a plan is just a dream. A plan without a vision is drudgery. But a vision with a plan can change the world.
All I'll say is a 4th may be the cost, but it's not the worth.

Sims isn't a 4th
He is ranked much higher than Kuper who Denver put a 1st round tender on and the players ranked ahead of him 2 have a 1st and 3rd tender, 1 is 33, and the other has a 2 nd round tender.
I’m a Marshall fan and think he’s worth a 1st and 3rd. Reality is that he is not drawing that much interest from what I am reading.

Shefter says Seattle is considering an offer sheet for Marshall
would give the #6 pick if they make the offer and Denver doesn’t match
http://www.milehighreport.com/2010/3/5/1358530/seahawks-considering-offer-sheet#comments
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
Wow, I can't see Seattle giving up a top 10 pick for Marshall, that would indeed be very surprising
I am curious if they would have to give up that pick or could they give us back our pick? Which would really be intrestiing, because essentially that would mean we traded BM for Alphonso Smith, there is some horrible value.

No, Smith and the player taken at #14.

not correct
We got Smith for the #14 pick. Then traded Marshall for the #14. After all that we have Smith, and #14 but no Marshall.
If we didnt have Smith, we would have #14, and whatever pick for Marshall. Meaning with those 2 picks we would be getting two players, instead we will be getting one at #14 and your second player is Smith
essentially, we had the asset of #14 and got rid of it for Smith, and to get it back we would have to give up Marshall, meaning that when you cancel out the loss and recovery of the 14th pick. you are left with Smith and no Marshall.
This also doesn’t factor in the extreme difference in the price of Smith vs. Marshall, but I am not trying to defend the move, clearly McDaniels thought he was going to get more from Smith…… Maybe he will get alot more from him in on the field in the future, but you can only evaluate what you see
i dont know that the broncos would be too excited about getting the #6
Depending on how the draft shakes out, if they aren’t taking a good long look at offensive lineman, then a Safety (Berry or maybe Earl Thomas), may be the only guys available at #6 that wouldn’t be there at #11.
According to the agreement
with the Players Union. The team matching the offer has to give up their selection or higher. Seattle doesn’t have a choice but the 6th unless a deal is made between Denver and Seattle.
Something like I said before but with signing him to an offer and possibly giving up the #6, I’d say Denver would get a better offer than I suggested in the intro. Possibly what TB suggested.

Gregg Rosenthal
at profootballtalk is a joke. Last night he called Cromartie a reciever. Now he says If Seattle signs Marshall that Denver and Seattle will negotiate a lesser price than the #6.
I’d like to buy a used car from this guy.
Me….“I’ll give you $2000 for that car.”
Rosenthal…." Make that $500 and we got a deal."

Personally I rate Sims as an up and coming lineman, still learning his trade. But I agree with the sentiments that have been posted that if we get rid of Marshall, we MUST get a minimum of a first round pick in return, so I would see two separate deals going on here, rather than trying to combine. If the Hawks only rate him as a 4th, give them a 4th. We rate BMarsh as a 1st, therefore the minimum price is a 1st. It’s not rocket science. I see some have said that this could be the Hawks 1st pick (6th overall), but where does it say that they couldn’t just return our old pick (14th overall)? Interesting post.
Its part of the Labor ageement that is still in place.

Why not #14 & Sims ???
I would rather make this deal, & keep our 4th rounder. Let’s say they offer the #6 for him. We say to them, if you want him, this is what we want ( #14 & Sims ). Otherwise, we will match your offer & keep him for ourselves.
this way we can make 1 trade, & hang on to our 4th rounder. Picks are too valuable this year.
I wrote this before
Seattle talked on a visit. What inspired it I suggested on another post that Denver trade Marshall to Seattle for Sims and #14 then i thought that was too high but not no more!

Don't forget
If Seattle doesn’t want to give up the 6th pick for Marshall, that puts Denver in the drivers seat. We would be the ones setting the terms. I think The #14 pick and Sims is a more realistic scenario.
I would love this trade
My biggest fear is that McD is thinking another player besides Sims. I have read in a few places, that he is possibly interested in Deion Branch. If he were the player in the trade, I would be very dissapointed. i think he is an injury prone bust.
