Broncos Takin' Phone Calls From Multiple Teams
Seattle may be talking to BMarsh tomorrow, but apparently a bunch of teams are attempting to pull the rug out from under them.

I bet Seattle is calling now, too.
Even though this tender doesn’t force them to negotiate with us or anything.
Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?

The Denver Post...really it could be crap spun by Broncos FO to generate interest or
legit…or just stuff made up by someone else.

read again? I choose DP, but there are other sources.
Nothing firm, because I doubt the Broncos would leak such information.

The guy formerly known as ZAPPA
of course they would leak information like that — it’s in their best interest to =)
I don’t see the quote in that article either
Exactly.. even if it's a rumour
It a good one because it might convince others teams too call to see if they can get some action..
I read it. I just wanted to know why you post this article with your own title and summery; when what you are writing isnt even in the article. Did you read it?
Equating “other teams have expressed interest” to
“the Broncos Takin’ Phone Calls From Multiple Teams, Seattle may be talking to BMarsh tomorrow, but apparently a bunch of teams are attempting to pull the rug out from under them.”
Thats garbage come on man you know that. This is maybe the best football blog their is. Please keep it that way.
look down...I posted additional info. God you are annoying.

Don't know what to say man.
Don’t like what I put down, ignore it and move on.
I’m just trying to keep the information flowing. Both places said either Multiple Teams or OTHER TEAMS have interest…I did put my own spin and title on it….after, this is MHR, not Rotoworld or the DP. I quoted them – I am not under obligation to use their titles too.

Is it the takin' phone calls part that is bothering you?
Do you think they might be expressing their interest via e-mail or tin cans connected with string rather than via phone? :)

According to the Denver Post, the Broncos are engaged in trade discussions with several teams for restricted free agent Brandon Marshall.
We already know the Seahawks are interested. Seattle OC Jeremy Bates was the playcaller in Denver two years ago, and former Broncos receivers coach Jedd Fisch is also on Pete Carroll’s staff. Without knowing the other teams interested, the Seahawks have to be considered the prohibitive favorites to land Marshall.

The guy formerly known as ZAPPA
Other teams have expressed interest in Marshall, but Seattle would be a good fit because former Broncos’ play caller Jeremy Bates and former receivers coach Jedd Fish are now with the Seahawks. Marshall was a big fan of both coaches in 2008 when he had 104 catches in 15 games.

Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?
That's what I was talking about!
Oh the beauty of the first round tender! I wonder who’s driving these negotiations— oh right, it’s the Denver Broncos. We may get Seattle’s whole draft by the time things are said and done. lol
This is
exactly why giving the 1st round tender was a good idea! Once the report came out that BMarsh was headed to Seattle for a visit, it now leads to a bidding circus. This could be a GREAT turn of events for us.
And
We get instant gratification because something is GOING to happen today.
Gratification might not be the best word because we’re losing a talented WR, but at least the band aid comes off quickly.
Why does Madden suck at ranking the Broncos so much?
Exactly.
It is great to know that things are rolling. It is sad since we are losing a talented WR, but we all knew this is going to happen. The sooner we get rid of him, the sooner we can see 1029384 more mock drafts from Sayre with the knew picks :)
and if other teams are interested, what could easily happen is we could force Seattle to throw in something extra in some sort of sign and trade deal.

Seattle is dumb
By talking to him so quickly, they just basically started an auction. They should have been more patient, it wasn’t like anyone expect Brandon to be moved in the next couple days. If news leaked that he was going to Seattle in a couple days, I doubt there would be this much excitement
Seems like the DP agrees that Seattle could use the 14th pick and not the 6th
“This time, the Broncos may be getting close to accommodating Marshall’s desire to leave. The Seahawks have both the financial wherewithal to submit an attractive contract proposal to induce Marshall into signing an offer sheet, and they also have two first-round draft picks, one of which can be used to prevent the Broncos from matching the offer.”

It cant be a pick they gained thru trade. It has to be theri original pick is what I have read from most sources. Realistiaclly, I think it willbe 14 and a player!

If they sign Marshall to an offer sheet
However, any team may make a bid to the Broncos and aquire the “tender” we placed on Marshall. Usually the tender and and an additional asset. In this way that team would be acquiing exclusive negotiating rights.

Sorry instead of double "and",
should be “amount and”.
"You can make mistakes, but you are not a failure until you blame others for those mistakes." -John Wooden
They can
Do a sign and trade, basically if they want Marshall they have to give us the 6th pick. This is where it get fun, they have to negotiate with us and not Brandon if they do not want to give up the 6th pick. They ask us to sign him, then we trade him for the 14th pick and say a player. Excellent move by Denver, and this is exactly what McD and Xanders had in mind when they used the first round tender on him.
not really
Brandon doesnt have to sign the tender or contract.

this is from nfl.com saying they have to give up #6
by black_knight101 on Mar 5, 2010 2:31 PM MST up reply actions
CBA does not allow that. The only way we get 14th is if we trade BMarsh to Seattle for it.
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.
The guy formerly known as ZAPPA
the confusion comes from
The idea of trading a tender, or negotiating a deal and signing him. If they sign Marshall to an offer sheet, then they are forced to trade their original pick (#6).
However for practical matters, they can trade anything that they want for Marshall as long as Denver agrees. Marshall and his agent would agree to a deal with Seattle (they would never acquire the tender without having a deal in place before hand.) Then once they organize the contract, they can make a trade with Denver before signing an offer sheet, for Marshall’s tender.
This mean they would be in the exact same position Denver is in right now, as far as Marshalls rights are concerned, then they would take the deal they agreed to earlier and sign him to it.
Which would be the exact same thing as Denver agreeing to a contract with him right now and signing him to it
Suppose I should just scroll down a little in the future...........
meh.

NO Seattle can not use the #14 in the right of first refusal..
BUT they can use the #14 in a trade with Denver.
BOLDIN NEWS
2:30 p.m. MST: Word has it the Chiefs are interested in trading for Arizona wide receiver Anquan Boldin. ProFootballTalk.com says the Ravens and Patriots are also interested.
I have found no updates
on our current recruits. If anyone hears, let me know
A vision without a plan is just a dream. A plan without a vision is drudgery. But a vision with a plan can change the world.
From nfp
Things are going well for Cleveland Browns free agent offensive lineman Rex Hadnot on his visit with the Denver Broncos, according to a league source.
We’re hearing that Hadnot may sign with the Broncos.
No deal is imminent, but there is momentum being generated toward Hadnot becoming a Bronco.
I pretty much knew BM was a goner the moment I saw 1st round tender.
Bummer, it’s not easy to replace elite and young WRs and I certainly don’t think we have a legit or potential #1 WR on our current roster. Guess we will need to find a new #1 WR in the next few months.
The 6th overall pick would be pretty steep compensation (worth more than a last 1st and 3rd). Based on the compensation for Top 7 overall picks, I wonder if Seattle prefers to trade #6 and hole #14.
In my opinion.
Who cares what Seattle prefers...they either sign him and we get the 6th or
they try to deal with us. I think the #14 and NEXT YEARS #1st is appropriate, don’t you? lol
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.
The guy formerly known as ZAPPA
That would be a high price paid by Seattle. Two 1sts, including an unknown pick. I don’t like trading Marshall, but that would be a nice return that I hope our draft guys could cash in.
Marshall is a very valuable to what we do in Denver so it would be ashame to lose such a critical piece of the puzzle.
In my opinion.
I just want to screw over Seattle for screwing us over last year. ;-)

How did Seattle screw Denver..
Denver ends up with pick #11 and Seattle has #14
Denver has their next starting CB in the Phonze
And now we may get the pick back. GREAT just great
http://www.necn.com/03/05/10/Green-drawing-interest-from-Broncos/landing_sports.html?blockID=191832&feedID=3352
The Broncos have expressed interest in free agent defensive end Jarvis Green, according to Green’s agent, Albert Elias.
Denver along with the Patriots are the two teams to show the most spark when it comes to the veteran.
“We’ve gotten some calls from other teams so far, but it’s the Broncos and Patriots right now,” said Elias. “We’re not going to take visits just to take visits.”
Green, 31, fought a knee injury last year that required surgery but is a good leader and productive player who’s been solid in big games throughout his career.
I think it was a mistake to slap him with the 2nd round tender
I doubt we’ll get any interest in him at that price….we should have placed the 3rd rounder on him at the most. Unless McD wants him on the team.
There was no lower tender we could slap on Scheff since he was a 2nd round pick.
The lowest tender is “round drafted”. That is what we used.
In my opinion.
I heard that RFA's usually don't receive much attention during the first two weeks of Free Agency...
BMarsh is apparently an anomoly.
Schef could get some action in a few weeks…

Musical chairs
When the music stops after the initial round of FA frenzy, we’ll see what teams are left standing without a chair (receiving TE). I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s traded on draft day.
Right now
I’d rather have Marshall on my team than Ben Rothlisberger

Elway was a #1 over all pick….no body bitched about that selection. lol
Of course, for every Elway there are 15 Ryan Leafs.

Actually, at this moment BMarsh holds the cards
He and his agent are fielding calls as well, for sure. And there may be another auction going on – who offers more $$$ to HIM. And he may stop the Broncos/picks auction at any moment by signing an offer sheet. If he is just after $$$ and would agree to play in Denver for the same money, he is fine – he does not care if Denver matches or not, because he gets the same money. Now, if he truly wants out of Denver, he must have Broncos in on negotiations so they receive good enough compensation and agree not to match. We shall see, I guess.
Actually....
before BMarsh signs on the dotted line – the Broncos hold all the cards. They could trade his rights at any moment.
so I guess I disagree. :)
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.
The guy formerly known as ZAPPA
Say they do...
and he still signs the offer sheet. Now the difference is – it is another team, not Broncos that will match the offer. Of course, they will be pretty determined to match it and get him, having already paid Broncos (in picks/players/cool-aid gallons) to have this privilege. So yes, I agree with you. Let’s put it this way: Marshall negotiates or his salary and Broncos let him do it on his own. Broncos negotiate compensation in picks/players.
not really. B marsh has to sign the tender for us to trade him
by black_knight101 on Mar 5, 2010 3:54 PM MST up reply actions
I don't believe that's the case.
I’m pretty sure we can trade the tender. The Dolphins did the same thing with Wes Welker, I believe.

Truthfully
Anytime an RFA is involved both teams and the player need to be involved in the negotiations.

Print Journalism Sucks
those of us who are radio broadcasters, at least in rural Utah, tend to do our homework while print fabricates everything. It seems things are no different with the Denver Rag ERRRR the Denver Post.

Yeah, right
Let’s see, the broadcasters get the same news feeds as print. The only difference is that print journalists have an entire evening to fact check and edit the stories while you broadcasters just spurt out whatever you read and apologize later. Broadcasters have no ethics.

Will Witherspoon
released by the Eagles. 91 tackels in 09 1 forced fumble and an interception..Given Denver’s history of going after Eagles, Dolphins, and Baltimore players, you got to think Witherspoon will get some consideration
My question was, is he an upgrade over Andra Davis?
Witherspoon’s production fell off sharply when the Eagles moved him from Mike to OLB. Let’s move him back inside. :)

Boldin traded
Done deal: Arizona trades WR Anquan Boldin and a 2010 fifth-round pick to Baltimore for Ravens 2010 third- and fourth-round picks.
And we have people complaining about
us possibly getting a first. Arizona has been trying for two years to get a first or a second for Boldin and now they settle for a third.
Amazing.

Yer that's crazy
If we get a first for Marshall and they get a 3rd for Boldin, i think we would have come away pretty good.
Wonder if this effects the seattle offer?
