Lombardi: Expect Broncos to set up private workout with Tebow
The Tim Tebow private workouts begin, with the Bills and Seahawks the first to visit the Florida campus. Expect the Panthers and the Broncos to follow. In a private workout setting, Tebow will be revealed as teams make him throw their route tree and in their rhythm of offense….

Mmmmm....
This is quite possibly the tastiest news of the offseason!
A vision without a plan is just a dream. A plan without a vision is drudgery. But a vision with a plan can change the world.
I looked into Tebow's (new) mechanics a bit (okay, a lot) last week
I used Elway as a measuring stick because he is, like Tebow, a baseball style thrower, but Elway had a much more natural ‘power’ technique (Elway throws like an ex-3rd baseman – watch a guy like Mike Lowell -see below). Tebow’s been all arm and no drive. Conversely, Elway used his whole body to generate tourque and drive.
Tebow’s new release & set up is much better and it looks like he’s driving better, although, he’s still more upright than Elway, but at least he’s moving/driving forward at release. He used to throw off of his front foot with no real drive and lift his back foot as he rotated, and he’d release the ball much later in his shoulder rotation than Elway or even Brady (who’s NOT a baseball style thrower). Now, Tebow’s not as upright and is rotating and releaseing a little earlier in his motion. Tim Tebow will always throw like Tim Tebow. He’s never going to throw like Elway or Brady or anyone else, so we need to remember that all he can do is tweak what he’s always done, he can’t recreate the wheel. His release is earlier and when he drives to his front foot from his back foot and really gets into a throw, I think he looks FANtastic (see the Senior Bowl photo below). The only reason I use Elway is that, frankly, he has a weird baseball style throw too. Almost 3/4, just like Tebow.
He has a much more classic delivery and set up now, but he still has a way to go for two reasons. It’s going to take him at least a year to pass this way without thinking about passing this way. And in pressure situations, there’s no guarantee that his old motion won’t show up.
Keep in mind that there is no perfect throwing motion set up, but there is definitely an inefficient one.
3rd base style thrower:

Elway’s 3rd baseman style throw:

Elway’s set up:

Tebow’s new set up (photo reversed – so he’ll look righty and comparable to Elway’s photo):

Tebow’s old release (late in his rotation):

Tebow at the Senior Bowl (3rd baseman style throw for sure – that could be a part of the reason why he struggled in the Senior Bowl, I believe he’d already transitioning his footwork and motion and the results were immediately shaky:

Oh and to close, Mike Lombardi thinks that the Broncos have all of the factors it’ll take for a team to draft him, click here to see say him as much. It’s my opinion Lambardi thinks Denver will take Tebow in round #2 if he’s there.
I’m actually on the fence about Tebow, but the more I look at this guy, the harder it is for me to not pull for him, regradless of where he ends up. Tebow could ‘redshirt’ in 2010 for Denver, but Denver would have to take him with (1) their second round pick – which is risky if they really want him b/c the Pats(they have the Jags’ pick) and Buf pick before Denver, imo or (2) Denver will either have to trade up/back in the draft to get a late #1 or very ealry #2 or lastly, with the pick/picks they get from a possible Marshall trade.
Imagine this:
Brandon Marshall for Tebow (Seattle’s #2), Rob Sims (starting Guard), and Seattle’s 5th rounder.

If we traded Marshall for a 2nd rounder
I would be okay with it if and probably only if we took Tebow.

You should turn this into a fanpost.
Seriously, you’re onto something here, and it’ll just disappear as a fanshot comment.

Hes an outstanding individual...tough, team leader and he wins.....
But…..I have HUGE doubts about his arm and his ability to come in and start as a QB.
Tebow would be nothing but a LUXURY pick for this team. In this perspective, you hope he could come in and sit behind Orton for 2-3 seasons and LEARN how to be NFL QB. His experience in college in a option style offense has done NOTHING to prepare him for the rigors of being an NFL Pro style QB.
Even then, you would hope a LUXURY QB pick (like Tebow would) you would still expect any QB taken in the 1st or 2nd rounds to be able to come in and lead the team in a crisis. Does anybody REALLY think Tebow could do this in his first year.
ANd my biggest problem with taking Tebow early! Our team does not have the depth yet to have a luxury pick in the 1st or 2nd rounds….we have too many needs to take ANY QB in the 1st or 2nd.
If we could get Tebow in 3rd…then cool……but not in the 1st or 2nd in a DEEP draft that could go a long way to putting our team on the correct path!
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
All I want is 53 Rod Smiths. Is that asking too much????

Tebow, who cares......
Right now I am very upset that we could not land Hadnot. Seems to me he would have made a difference in our many, many short yardage situations giving the possibility of the playoffs. In my thinking right now, I want a big center like Hadnot to drive open the running game on third and short or at the goal line and short. Would one of you guys tell me why we can’t make a special allowance for such a center. Or am I missing something. Thanks McmanJoe Semper Fi
Big =/= good.
He was a backup for the Browns. I never really saw what all the hoopla was over him. He’d be quality depth—nothing more—good to have but easily replaceable.
Hey kiddies.... I have Internet candy in my van...
Sorry about "Tebow who cares"
Tebow would be fantastic to me but that’s in the future. I would rather (in my limited football experience) have a beast like Hadnot in FA than draft a rookie Center. Personal opinion until you guys show me where I am wrong. Thanks McManJoe Semper Fi
"Beast"
is a term that gets thrown around a lot, but I wouldn’t consider Hadnot a “beast”, just a solid option in FA. If he asks for too much $$$, I’d be more than happy to sign Hank Fraley, a solid veteran OC with plenty of starting experience and the kind of character pluses McDaniels seems to like.
Hadnot
got hurt, but even though he was signed w/ the Browns, they STILL drafted Alex Mack w/ their #1. Hadnot was a good option for Denver, but Denver is doing the right thing and not spending money irresponsibly.
Its obvious that Denver’s not going to just outspend for anyone.
They want guys who want, specifically, to play in Denver, for the Broncos, and Bowlen and McDaniels.
Handont, like Pashos, was and is looking for a payday.
I’m also happy Dwan Edwards is not a Bronco. I’ve watched a lot of Raven football and he simply looks like a beat but not playing to potential or maybe the game moves a little fast for him.
Remember, UFA’s, for the most part, are players that other teams don’t mind losing.
RFA’s are the more marquee guys.
I’d rather build the O-Line & D-Line from the draft. Especially the Center and NT spots.
From what I understand...
the problem with Tebow’s throwing motion is when he checks down to other receivers and let’s the ball hang low before recocking to throw.
Committing random acts of Brandon since 2006...
Difference of right hand left hand thrower.
How much difference does it make to the OL whether the QB is right or left handed thrower. If there is a difference. Thanks McManJoe
really no difference...
I mean, the blind side is obviously the right side, not left, but it would be absolutely crazy to move a guy like Clady to a new position. He dominates the left.

My thoughts also
With the issue of Harris for the season and possibly beyond in doubt why draft a lefty that high. The pressure will be on to play the guy for the money they are paying him. Just saying. Also not a big fan of Tebow never have been and would just as soon use that pick for lineman either O or D.
i have a feeling
that BM gonna’s pull it together

Thanks Guys. I appreciate the feedback… I had the feeling that I was going to get put back on the right track. I feel better now about Hadnot. HA!! Thank the Lord for MHR and guys like you. Thanks McManJoe Semper Fi
