My First Mock- "Lets pretend he stays" (First Post)
Ok guys, this is my first post on this site so it obviously wont be perfect. I know some people don't like all these mocks, which I understand, but i love reading them. I am a huge fan of the draft. I have a few thoughts about what I hope will happen (even if I don't necessarily think it will). This will be assuming Brandon Marshall stays this year, then is likely traded midseason or next offseason.
Trades:
We trade our #11 to Pittsburg for their #18 and #52. Pittsburgh trades up for one reason: get in front of Miami for Dez Bryant. Its simple, Hines Ward is great but old, and Holmes is gone. Big Ben is a mess. I think they need a big move like this to hold their passing game together.
We trade Scheff (tear) to Cicninati for their #86. It could honestly be any team in that region, I just think Cinci fits. I think he is worth more but I don't think thats the general consensus around the league. I'm certainly a homer.
Gives us picks....

2-13,20
3-16,22
4-16
6-14
7-13
THE DRAFT
#18- Markice Pouncey. I think this one is obvious. It is the one area on our team that really has no one to cover for. It was between guard and center for me here. Seth Olsen can play guard well, but our only center is Dustin Fry. Its just a need we can't ignore.
Round 2, #13- Terrence Cody. This pick was hard for me. I think we need to get younger in key areas, like NT. He will definitely help us establish the line on run plays, something we struggled with last year. On this pick, he barely edged out Carlos Dunlap. I think he'd be a great end, and I'm shocked hes fallen so far. But we do have a lot of players at DE right now.
Round 2, Pick #20- Vladimir Ducasse. While I do like Seth Olsen, I would really like to get a bigger guard for our power scheme. Take a page out of the Vikings or Cowboys book and bulk up. He is a monster and I think he can easily transition from tackle to guard.
Round 3, Pick 16- Carlton Mitchell. This mock is assuming we keep Marshall, which I doubt we will atleast 2 years down the road, but either way I really like this pick. We need another big receiver. He has a good combination of speed and size. Immediate impact player.

Round 3, Pick 22- Brandon Spikes. First of all, HOW did he fall this far? 6 months ago I was praying he would be our first round pick. I really like the fact that he stayed his senior season, and hes a tough player. Im shocked a 40 time could drop a solid leader on a great defense this far. This would be my favorite value in this draft. -

Round 4, Pick 16- Legarrette Blount. I think he fills a huge need. A real short yardage power runner. I know the character issues, but in this case I really think he learned his lesson early. Love how he runs, doesn't give up after contact. He'd be a great compliment to Moreno and Buck.
Round 6, Pick 14- Myron Rolle. I don't know why, but I've loved this guy for the past few years. He's a genius. He is an extremely high character guy, and I feel his play is GREATLY underrated. He is a steal here, where he is rated.
Round 7, Pick 13- Zoltan Mesko. We need a punter, Zoltan Mesko is one. Nuff said.
RECAP
Pouncey,Cody,Ducasse,Mitchell, Spikes,Blount,Rolle,Mesko
What was I thinking?!? no CB? no FB?
The reason I didn't draft a CB is that in order for a CB to be good enough to even crack our top 5, he would have to be in the first few rounds. I don't think we have the ability to use a high pick on that right now when we have Champ, Goodman, Phonz, and Nathan Jones. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice, just not an immediate need like OL.
The reason I didn't draft a FB was because I really don't think its a priority in our offense. We had a great one, and gave him up. I think we could get a starter calibur FB as an UDFA that would fit MCDs system.
The other focus I had on this draft was underrated players who dropped after combine. Spikes is a great player. Hes proved that for years. He would have been a top 15 if he came out last year, but stayed for the team. If hes around 3rd round where hes projected, hes an absolute steal. I also think Cody is similar. Hes not necessarily a guy I'm in love with, but I think hes a great 2nd round value. Especially with how hard it is to get and keep a quality NT with all the teams switching to 3-4.
this would give us a ...
starting o-line of CLADY-DUCASSE-POUNCEY-KUPER-HARRIS
Wrs ......BMARSH-ROYAL-MITCHELL-STOKELY-GAFFNEY-McKINLEY
RBs...... MORENO-BLOUNT-BUCKHALTER
LBS.......AYERS-DJ WILL-SPIKES-DOOM
Thoughts? Thanks for reading.

Awesome
I love all the picks, but I think it’s fairly unrealistic. Pitt just proved they don’t like players with low character, ie, Santonio Holmes for a fifth round pick, and they need a center too much to trade down and get a troubled WR.
Second, i highly doubt Cody or Ducasse would be available at the those picks. I see Cody going late in the first or early in the second, and Ducasse fairly early in the second. Same with Musco and Rolle, they’re too popular to be in your repsective rounds
But overall, if this was our draft, I would be ecstatic, it has a lot of the players I wish we would draft
First off
welcome to MHR. I am fairly new on this site also.
Pouncey is good
Ducasse is fine
Spikes is fine
Mitchell is good
Rolle is good but I don’t think he will be there but I know that’s where he is rated so I understand why you did that
Now the bad
Not a Cody fan. I know he has potential, but he has problems and his weight issues keep coming up. I would rather draft Gerhart in the 2nd then Cody.
If we draft Gerhart we don’t need Blount. In Blount’s position we can draft someone like Mardy Gilyard (WR) Tony Moeaki (TE) or Kevin Thomas(CB)
Overall it’s a good draft. I wouldn’t be upset at it.
