Stedtfeld's Denver Broncos Mock Draft 17.0

This might be my last mock draft, and let me say this has been fun, making all these mock drafts. I just find pleasure in finding players that could potentially be on my beloved Broncos. These next days are going to be loooooong waiting for the draft to begin. I will be so excited when the commissioner comes up to the podium with the Broncos' first pick, whenever that may be. Here we go...

TRADE ALERT

Arizona receives: Tony Scheffler, TE

Denver receives: 88th pick overall

TRADE ALERT

New York Giants receive: 11th pick overall

Denver receives: 15th pick overall, 86th pick overall

With the 15th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Maurkice Pouncey #56 of the Florida Gators lines up in a game against the Kentucky Wildcats at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on October 25, 2008 in Gainesville, Florida.

Maurkice Pouncey, C, Florida

You've probably seen this guy too many times to count, so I don't have a lot of explaining to do. I really hope we get him, as I don't want to worry about not being able to run up the gut, which is obviously something McDaniels loves to do.

TRADE ALERT

Indianapolis receives: 45th pick overall, 88th pick overall

Denver receives: 31st pick overall

With the 31st pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Linebacker Sean Weatherspoon #12 of the Missouri Tigers reacts after stopping the Baylor Bears offense during the game at Faurot Field/Memorial Stadium on November 7, 2009 in Columbia, Missouri.

Sean Weatherspoon, LB, Missouri

If this draft wasn't one of the deepest in NFL history, there's no way this guy would be here. But it is, so I wouldn't be overly shocked to see him make it here. But there's no way he gets past here. If I didn't trade up here, he would have been taken at 32, by the Saints. Since I'm sure some will tell me that there's no way he falls this far, so I will give you an alternate to all this later. Anyways, how happy would you be Thursday night, knowing the Broncos just snagged one of the best center prospects in a LOONG time, and a great linebacker that is very much needed in Denver? I wouldn't be able to sleep, thinking about our newly acquired players. Denver seems interested in Weatherspoon, and Weatherspoon surely seems interested in Denver, as we can tell from some of his tweets.

With the 43rd pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Damian Williams #18 of the USC Trojans returns a 63-yard punt return for a touchdown against Oregon State Beavers during the fourth quarter of the college football game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on October 24, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.

Damian Williams, WR, USC

Damian Williams is a guy I really want in Orange and Blue. I really would love to see us pick up a receiver in the 2nd round, 3rd round latest. Damian Williams is very talented, especially in his route-running. Route running that will get him open, get the ball in his hands, and let him earn more YAC. He is great after the catch, and is a VERY dangerous player in the open field. USC liked to screen to him, which is something McDaniels likes to do as well. Let me say this, though: I am totally open to Arrelious Benn here, he is also a very talented player, but if I have to choose between he and Williams, give me Damian.

With the 80th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Torrell Troup, DT, UCF

We need to continue to improve our line on both sides of the ball, and Troup can help with that. Troup is great anchoring against the run, and has a powerful bull rush that collapses the pocket. He's great at shedding blocks, and I think he could get into the rotation at NT and/or DE his rookie year.

With the 86th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Wide receiver Jacoby Ford #6 of the Clemson Tigers rushes upfield with a first-quarter pass against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the 2009 ACC Football Championship Game December 5, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

Jacoby Ford, WR, Clemson

Jacoby Ford fits two needs for us: wide receiver and returner. This versatility is what will attract McDaniels, I hope. I think many would agree that we need to bring in a returner, and along with it we add talent to a right now average to below average receiving corp. After this pick, I hope we would be done getting receivers for a while. With young talent like Royal, Ford, Williams, and McKinley, I think we should be set.

With the 114th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Alterraun Verner #1 of the UCLA Bruins runs after an interception against Denarius Moore #6 of the Tennessee Volunteers on September 12, 2009 at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Alterraun Verner, CB, UCLA

I think we should get a corner in this draft, just not too early. Verner is the perfect pick for us. I hope McX feel that way as well, as Verner could take one of the outside CB spots in a year or two, once Champ and/or Goodman are gone.

With the 183rd pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

O'Brien Schofield, OLB, Wisconsin

If he is still here, I would love this pick. The guy is a natural pass rusher, and can stop the run as well. He was projected as about a 3rd rounder before his knee injury. I would love McDaniels to give this guy a chance, he probably has a huge chip on his shoulder.

With the 220th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Stafon Johnson, RB, USC

Ok, we all know about his horrific throat injury, and it has definitely dropped his stock a lot. But the guy still has talent, and again I would like to see McDaniels take another guy whose stock fell because of an injury, and now has a chip on his shoulder, something to prove. Johnson probably really wants to prove he can come back and be an effective running back. I also think we need more depth at RB.

Now that I've thought about it, I will probably make one more mock. Not that I wasn't satisfied with this one, but I want to get another possibility out there before this thursday. I hope you enjoyed this one!
