Tim Tebow?
The ransom we paid to trade back into the first round for Tim Tebow makes very little to no sense to me. Why trade for Quinn? Seattle gets Earl Thomas S w/OUR 14th pick while we wait and see if Alphonso Smith develops in his second year. Now we have 4 QBs on our roster and gave up 3 picks to get Tebow.
What turned out to be a good start in the draft, I'm left puzzled and angry. Holes left to fill? ILB, S, C, G, RB and TE. Thomas was a great pick, Tebow was simply a reach and now hate the idea that our coach has a man-crush on Tebow.

I care
Not because I care what the MSM thinks, but because this was a totally bonehead move.

Someone help with what we gave for the tebow trade?
Give me impact at center, copmetence at guard and an upgrade at linebacker - sprinkle in strides from having the same system for two years in a row - and I'll show you a contender!

The Broncos gave up choices in the second (No. 43), third (No. 70) and fourth (No. 114) rounds to move up and take Tebow,
43 = 470
70 = 240
114 = 66
776
25 = 720
56 points isn’t a big deal by any means. I was hardly in the draft Tebow camp but cost isn’t an issue.
no goats, no glory.
The Broncos also received a 4th in there.
Step aside, my friend, I been doin' it for years.

LOVE IT!
I’m with you guys on giving away all those picks, hate that, but getting Tebow is a great move. The kid has everything to be a BIG star in this league. The future in Denver is clear, Orton is the veteran who will win games and help develop Tebow, Quinn is the solid back up (thank God Simms is gone), Brandstater is history.
McD sees Tebow for what he is, full of raw talent with great potential. The knocks on Tebow have been absurd, I believe he will be a star in the next few years and guess what? HE’S A BRONCO!!!
also...
Buffalo and Minnesota wanted Tebow (for good reason) so the Broncos HAD to make that move if they really wanted him.

I want to
believe what you’re saying but no QB that has played in a Spread offense has had much success w/maybe Drew Brees being the lone exception. I’m sure Orton can qualify too since his ability to ‘win’ games is why he’s in Denver. However, I see it this way, in the next couple of years Denver may have to spend a couple of drafts and maybe a new regime is this doesn’t play out. I’m hoping I’m wrong.
Say hello to my fast...
no doubt
McD has put his head coaching job on the arm of Tebow, which only makes me think he knows much more than I do about who Tebow is and what he can become. One thing I don’t think McD is is stupid, it’s a BIG gamble, sure, but hey, you gotta make those calls if you wanna be more than 8-8 every year.

Woah someone has drank the kool-aid
He might pray hard, work hard, and have more grit than a breakfast order – doesn’t mean he can throw accurate, relearn a new system instead of Spread, be patient and read routes, and throw deep passes instead of button hooks and bubble screens.
Remember its 3 picks we gave up for 1 draft choice we will never get back when our team has serious needs in the trenches – OL,DL and also CB and LB.
Over reach at best.

Belichik is a genius.............
Send out your assistants to destroy the competition. This has been in the back of my mind for 2 years, now Im sure of it.
Romeo Crennel – Browns?
Charlie Weis – ????
Eric Mangini – Rex has the Jets now.
Josh McDumbass – Tebow
KINGS WILL BE 10-11 CHAMPIONS
Great point!
That’s why the Bronco’s beat the Patriots in the regular season, to remove any suspicions. Kind of like how Hitler tricked the Americans into beating him, so he could become ruler of the world.
umm...the jets are kind of beastly now..
..just sayin….
Flagged for "McDumbass".

Man Crush
That what this pick is and I don’t care how ‘tough’ McDaniels tries to pass himself as. If Tebow can manage to be the opposite that last year’s trade/pick (this year’s first for Alphonso Smith-who was Earl Thomas S of Tenn. for Seattle), it might be worth it.
I hate to be negative or destructive but it makes no sense to me. Thank for the point system but I see it differently. We gave up 3 potential players of great potential and contribution for 1. Reminds me of that scene in Saving Private Ryan when they come across that crash site where a 2 star general was found dead.
At this point I’m hoping we can fill our needs in the next two days but right now I’m not very pleased and less impressed w/this new brass that has replaced the old.

With this reasoning...
We’d trade all our high picks for mid/low round picks. If Tebow pans out, he’s quite possibly the best player in the draft. He is a risk, but his upside is incredible.
remaining picks
2 – #45, 3 – #80, 3 – #87, 5 – #137, 6 – #183
It looks a lot like where we started with a little movement down with a 2 becoming a 3. That could pay when we draft for the OL.
no goats, no glory.
Where's the 4th we got in the trade for Tebow?

they pay for what they want
Cost is not a big issue — though. You can argue with who they like but I can’t say they were taken. They also moved again to beat out another team for someone they wanted (Buffalo in this case). I actually have to give them a lot of credit for how well they’ve been moving to avoid being scooped by another team. That was the story last year with Quinn.
no goats, no glory.

Sorry maybe this is because of conflicting reports
and maybe my link is the wrong source… but if this link is correct information, it goes to prove how ready everyone is to rip into the Broncos in the media… all i keep reading is Bronco’s gave a 2, 3, 4… everyone leaves the 4th we got back out…
If the Broncos got a 4th back then I just wonder no one knows about that little tidbit…

I’m starting to wonder if they got a 4th next year.

The Broncos landed Tim Tebow with the 25th pick overall after trading with the Ravens. Denver also gets a fourth-round pick as part of the deal, in exchange for a second-round pick (No. 43), a third-round pick (No. 70) and a fourth-round pick (No. 114)
It’s one way of resolving the conflicting reports.
no goats, no glory.
yeah
If you look at it,
One of our twos moved down to a three,
and traded #11 for #22 AND #25.
If we weren’t all that thrilled about the players in the first half of the first round anyway, then we really didn’t pay all that much to get Tebow.
I would rather ...
I would rather have those 3 picks back and add 3 more player to the line, either side, I don’t care. Orton is fine for now, just give him some protection. Not even Manning (either one) can throw behind our current line. All I want to see are players for both sides of the line for the rest of the draft. McD made his splash, now lets get boring for awhile.

I think
our line is fine w/the exception of the interior. Hell we could have drafted Pouncey at 13 and traded up for Tebow and settle for second tier WRs. I have more doubts about this regime than last year. Maybe we could start the season 0-6 and finish 8-8 and state how strong we finished?
Say hello to my fast...
A Silver Lining
I’m trying to find a silver lining and all I can think of is at least Tebow is built like a player, unlike the 5’ 8" corner this year we traded up for last year. (I’m really missing Shanahan right about now).

List of Pics
Does anyone have the definative list of our remaining picks?
One thing McX is not, and that is boring.
Boring
Of course boring can be good. Like the Steelers with Pouncey @ 18.
we may have gone boring, too
I think the one big mistake people make is in assuming that everything was planned. Either Pouncey or Iupati could have been (would have been) targets for us but we can’t control everything that other teams do. The 15th spot may have been a little high and they were both gone by the 24th. I don’t see a big problem with the trading down, nor with the Demaryius Thomas pick.
There’s still more highly rated interior OLs left. I see potential for a pick in the 3rd.
no goats, no glory.
The cost is a non starter
Colinski is correct, “cost isn’t an issue.” There’s risks and uncertainties with every draft pick. Whether they can really play with the big boys; whether they can stay healthy; whether they’re smart enough to learn whatever system they have to learn; whether they can stay out of trouble with the law (Hello! Ben Rothlisberger), and on and on. We gave up a 2nd, 3rd, and a 4th. for a guy who has done nothing but win his whole life. And win against the best., and put mind bogling numbers along the way. PA-LEZZZ! If we didn’t make this move and kept those three picks, God knows who we would have gotten, and we’d be wringing our hands about them. We’re all trying to hedge our bets on who’s got the skills to make it. It’s a big "who the hell knows, from the number one pick to “Mr. Irrelevant”’ So, I don’t see much sense in getting caught up in the paralysis of ananlysis on this, that and the other about Tebow’s mechanics, smarts, character… or whatever. It’s all a calculated risk. If I’m McD, I throw in with a proven stud like Tim Tebow. Geez! he made a player out of Matt Cassell for crying out loud, and got pretty good production out of Kyle Orten. As far as I’m concerned the cost for Tim Tebow is Mr. Bowlen’s money well spent. I give him a “Mile High Salute” for having the stones to make all of these changes and stickin’ his neck out there. He sure ain’t dull.
the short board philosophy
The Broncos are frequently initiating trades to get the players they want and they give up a small premium in the process. However, it’s not much. And the trades probably wouldn’t go through if they didn’t offer some profit.
McX are operating on well-delineated ideas of what they want. Giving up small chunks of value in the process isn’t an issue because teams slough off value every time they cut a pick or lose a free agent (which happened quite a bit in the Shanahan era). We also gain value when we sign free agents, which we’ve done a lot of lately.
You can look at this process of gaining/losing value as a value budget. And we’ve been gaining on the value budget lately, which is why I predict that this team will continue to get better. Also, rookies and younger players can gain in value and veterans can lose value. Fans tend to get bent out of shape over the apparent loss of value in a trade but rarely is a true accounting of the value budget made. An added boost to our budget lately has been our ability to recoup value through the trades of Scheffler, Marshall and Cutler.
no goats, no glory.
Clarification: Broncos moved up from 43 to 25 by trading away picks 70 and 117.
I have been several different things posted. In essence what Denver did is pick the best short yardage runner in this draft for a 3rd and 4th round pick.
Denver looked great with Cutler yardage wise but had a hard time scoring. With Tebow at 245 lbs, the Broncos at the very least have a powerful wildcat QB they can use in short yardage and goal line situations. He is a proven TD machine. The object of the game is to score TDs, something the Bronco offense has been lacking in the past few years.
